What a joy it was when we kicked off the first CPI training in Siem Reap, Cambodia! We were thinking and praying whether we should start a training centre in Siem Reap as our concentration has been in Phnom Penh. On our trip in December last year, the Lord spoke to our hearts that it is time to do it. And how He provided a couple to anchor the training! Denis & Charlene were called to be missionaries to Cambodia four years ago. Their journey was not a smooth one, but the bumps and humps were all worth it. continued on next page..
GTIS Phase 2 update At last, the long-awaited auditorium & canteen building is ready. Football field is almost ready to fulfill our dreams:feed the poor, gospel rally, sports & football club. The latter reaches out to youth which form 50% of the population under 25 years old. We need your gifts and talents. CPI trainees praising the Lord! Interior of the new auditorium The new football field taking shape This is because they learn to trust and depend upon the Lord who showed them He is Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides. The Lord provided a large property to them, and we were wondering a House of Prayer certainly doesn t need a big place. We were wrong, because it turned out to be another house of refuge and CPI training centre! Interestingly, the place seems to attract people who are demon-possessed and those who have lost their minds over some painful experiences. All of them were delivered and set free, hallelujah! 16 of them, mostly widows, are living at the compound. The first batch of 18 out of a class of 20 graduated after a two-month intensive residential training in late February to April this year. Their bonding as a result of staying together was strong as it showed through when they put up a skit and decorated the whole place up for the graduation ceremony. We are glad that most of them were youths in their 20s, smart and raring to go and impact their nation with the love of Jesus. The next batch of 22 will start their training in August and end in September. We invite you to come and join us! Ready for missions - My mission trip to Cambodia My experience with the Cambodia mission trip was a very fulfilling one. The weather was very hot and I was sweating profusely, but seeing the smiles on the children made it worth going. This was the first time I led the children s program by myself, and although nervous, the encouragement and prayers by the mission team made me feel confident. The children were so enthusiastic and it was a joy to see them following along with action songs like With Christ In The Vessel. We ministered to children in the orphanage, many of whom were preteen or teenagers. We also went into the villages to minister to the children. They were much younger, around 1 to 6 year olds. In the village, I was encouraged to see the people listening intently to the messages shared, and touched to see them praying for each other. Although their living conditions weren t ideal, the people and children were happy and very eager to learn. We also visited some houses to pray for families, and also visited a fish farm owned by one of the church members. It was a good experience and I am thankful to have been part of the team. 2 Kimberley Ann - ICM Partner Kimberley leading in children s ministry in Takeo province
5th - 12th MAY MISSION TRIP Village Ministry in Phnom Penh Children ministry at an orphanage in Kampong Speu Giving of clothes and food ICM Singapore geared up for missions to Cambodia with a very unique partner. For the first time, employees of a commercial company is joining ICM Singapore for missions. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program is a way companies give back to the less fortunate in society. Combining this with their passion for missions, Magnificent Vine Group (MVG), a local Singapore company, CSR program would be missions to Cambodia. For this trip, 8 members of the team are from Magnificent Vine Group, joining with 6 members from ICM Singapore. It is the first trip to Cambodia for many of the team members. During this packed trip, we visited Glad Tidings International School (GTIS), the joint project between Glad Tidings Church and ICM Singapore. GTIS dedicated its newest classroom building in September Since then, it has been bustling. Teachers and students are making full use of their new classrooms, dedicated subject rooms as well as common study areas. Today the school is running one session with 420 students. 170 children are waiting to register for Grade 1 starting October this year. A major part of this trip is ministry to the villages around Phnom Penh. We held adult and children ministry and sharing in villages of Kampong Chhnang and Takeo provinces. During children s ministry, we distributed food, school bags, stationery to the village children. They were sponsored by MVG. Through songs, games and testimonies, we shared with them the love of God and the gospel message. For the adults, we distributed sacks of rice to every household in the village. We also ministered to them, praying for healing of the sick and sharing God s love for them. The Lord united the hearts of the team with a compassion for the people in Cambodia. We pray that He will continue to use us for His Kingdom purpose in Cambodia. Outreach in Kampong Chhnang 3
19th - 26th JUNE MISSION TRIP Sri Lanka CPI graduates singing praises to the King! Finally, 35 Timothys graduated after eight months of intensive CPI training. This is the 11th batch since we started engaging the Church in Sri Lanka. Inspite of ethnic and religious problems they face, our graduates have gone on to plant more than 200 house churches all over the country. One word which constantly resonated among them is boldness. The Holy Spirit gave them boldness to be His witnesses in the villages. They were threatened for sharing the Gospel; a number of churches were shut down and burnt. Some of them were even physically beaten up but the Kingdom of God is advancing against all odds! Nine of us went on this trip. Every one of us could testify that it was no coincidence we were there. God has wonderfully orchestrated a divine appointment for each of us, to heal and be healed by Veteran Kwee Choo (in red) teaching on Kingdom Character His grace. Inspite of our own struggles and pain, we experienced His power to change as we ministered. We saw God s plan for fallen man, His love for the destitute, the sick and the downcast. How we wish every believer could go and see what God is doing in the nations beyond our shore. The youngest member of the team was Dawn Tan and she was such a blessing to the orphans, the abused and under-privileged children. She engaged them with Bible stories in puppetry and art work and topped it up with ice cream for all. How the children loved it! It seems each batch of Timothys (trainees) gets better and better in terms of enthusiasm and knowledge. They were so hungry for the Word when we shared on the final module on God s Glorious Manifest Kingdom. Lord, your Kingdom come! 5 6 th - 16 th JUNE MISSION TRIP Kyrgyzstan Washing of feet to demonstrate Christ s love A team of 7 travelled to Kyrgyzstan to conduct our church planting training (CPI) program. Starting off in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan, we taught for 4 days on the topic of discipleship. We had the opportunity of meeting some leaders from the non-russian churches. They are mainly Kyrgyz farmers from the more rural areas. Some travelled several hours to Bishkek to attend our training. We also conducted a 2-day seminar and retreat for 30 pastors and elders from the cities of Bishkek, Osh and Jalalabad. Held in the scenic lake town of Issyk-Kul, this seminar focuses on encountering God spiritually. On the last night of the seminar, Ps Darren organized a spiritual Waiting before the Lord in the retreat encounter night that involved feet washing, prophetic prayer, soaking in the Holy Spirit and Holy Communion. The ICM team followed the example of Jesus by showing love for one another through the washing of the participant s feet and then encouraging them to do the same for one another. For prophetic prayer, words, visions or impressions were released to each individual. The night ended with Holy Communion and remembering what Jesus did on the cross. One of the highlights of this trip was visiting the headquarters of Mercy Foundation in Tokmok, an hour s drive from Bishkek. This Christian foundation manages a university, primary and secondary schools and CPI Training in Bishkek even a school for the disabled. The founder is an 85-year old Chinese brother who, after hearing the Lord s call 15 years ago, sold his business and started these Christian schools in Kyrgyzstan. Today they have more than 1,500 students. Finally, I would like to encourage you to join us to go to Kyrgyzstan. You get to reach out to brothers and sisters in Central Asia and experience what God is doing from Asia going back to Jerusalem. Come and be a part of His Kingdom s work! Joan Chua ICM Director 5
THE STORY OF OUR LATEST CHURCH PLANTING CENTER IN SIEM REAP Trust and Obey! Charlene teaching at a CPI training session In December 2013, Pastor Richard Toh of ICM Singapore came with a team to Siem Reap. During this visit, the Lord impressed on our hearts and theirs that we should start a Church Planting training program (CPI) in Siem Reap. We have been missionaries in Cambodia for 4 years now and we are excited the next step God has for us and believe that this is a new chapter in our journey here. The CPI course is an 8-week intensive residential training. It is a huge commitment for the church planters but we thank God for dedicated people who came forward to attend. The course started in February 2014 with more than 20 students. Two weeks into the course, the fire came. God started to baptize the students in the Holy Spirit. There was a hunger for God and His Presence is tangible in our midst. We witnessed healing, deliverance Congratulations to our first CPI graduates from Siem Reap! and freedom from all kinds of bondage. Lives were being transformed for His Glory! By April, 18 students graduated! They walk in the power of God like the church of Acts. They are not afraid to pray, heal or cast out demons, because they had hands on experience during their 8-week program. They are on fire and zealous, they have gone out to serve in the capacity that God has prepared for them. Since graduation, some church planters continue to stay with us in Siem Reap while others have returned to their home villages. They are serving in their village churches, teaching what they have learnt and shining for Jesus in the darkness. God has used the CPI course to bring about His Kingdom revival in Siem Reap. We pray that as it starts here, revival will go forth to the rest of Cambodia, winning Cambodia for Christ! Charlene Kruger ICM Partner 6
14th - 19th JULY MISSION TRIP Myanmar Our 3rd batch of church planters in Myanmar We received a double blessing at our latest trip to our Myanmar Church Planting Mission centre in Yangon. Firstly, the pigeon-infested roof at the Centre has been renovated with funding from a House of Prayer church member. What a relief it is to breathe in fresh air once again without the toxic dust from the pigeon droppings! The second blessing came in the form of our 3rd batch of CPI trainees. The Lord knows our desire to have godly men and women from all over Myanmar to be trained in the vision and skills of church planting. God granted the desires of our heart with 42 church planters. These 42 participants came from all over Myanmar, from Myitkyina in the north, Hpa-an in the south, Sittwe in the west, Mandalay from the central area, and many other areas as well. We were also delighted to have two Mission & Evangelism directors attend this training. At the end of the first two weeks of training, the participants said that they are more equipped now and are blessed to be attending the course. This first two weeks of CPI covered topics such as Fundamentals of the Christian Faith, Effective Prayer Life, Bible Study Methods and Praise & Worship. Leaders from Sittwe and Toungoo Hill station have also expressed their desire to start CPI training centres. We thank God that he is extending our tents to spawn more CPI training centres throughout the country. Pray with us that God will raise up visionary teachers and equippers to help equip the saints for the work of spreading the good news of Jesus Christ. Our next trip to Myanmar will be from 7-13 September We invite you to come along with us. Our latest CPI training course in Yangon 7
Update on Nepal Ps Nehemiah and newly baptised believers Dear Partners, I was in Nepal in June and would like to update and ask you to keep Nepal in prayer. 1) Pray for the Christians in Nepal who are facing persecution. Many churches in Nepal (mainly Kathmandu) were told by the authorities to stop services. Pray for the strengthening of the saints in Nepal. 2) We celebrate with Pastor Nehemiah, our key local partner in Nepal, who baptised 37 people the week before I arrived, Praise the Lord! 3) Join us for our next exciting trip from Sept 22 - Oct 1! We will be conducting:- a) Timothy training on Module 8 - Glorious Kingdom of God and Graduation. Thanks be to God we will now have more than 900 church planters (Timothys) trained. b) One day ministry to the women. c) One day Youth ministry with 150 or more young people. d) One day seminar with Business people, with about 50 Christian business brethren. e) Ministry to school children and orphans. f) Two day Advance Timothy program for past CPI graduates. 4) Praise God we have completed the basic plans for our new school. With the land we have purchased, we can build a 3-storey training school. The cost is estimated around S$130,000 inclusive of all furnishing, which is much lower than the original estimate of S$ k. Partner with us in this kingdom endeavour in Kathmandu by praying and giving. You can make a contribution to ICM Singapore and indicate Nepal CPI School at the back of the cheque.
