2 Today s Meditation There are three interwoven themes in today s readings: listening to God, faith vs. good works, and losing our life in order to find it. How are they related? The Suffering Servant of Isaiah undergoes much distress and ridicule, but is able to bear it because he has listened to the promptings of God day after day. The psalm tells us that God listens, too. God hears our prayers for help and is always ready to save us. As our faith deepens, so does our desire to do the works of justice and charity that build up the reign of God. God directs our actions in ways we often cannot see, and we don t always see the results. We are called upon in faith to trust that what we do is enough, and that willingness to listen to God s promptings will lead us in the right way. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co., Inc. Come have fun planning with us This is a fun filled and very beneficial fundraiser for St. Stanislaus. Each year, the Catholic Church in the United States designates the third Sunday in September as Catechetical Sunday a day on which to celebrate and pray for the Church s mission to teach the Gospel to all people. This year s theme is Enlisting Witnesses for Jesus Christ. As a catechist, you are responding to a call to share the gift of faith with others, even as you deepen your own faith. This call may have reached you through your pastor, the director of your parish s religious education program, or through your role as a Catholic school teacher. But know that this calling ultimately comes from God whose Holy Spirit inspires and guides you. UNCW and CFCC UNCW Catholic Student Center: UNCW and CFCC students, faculty, staff and friends are welcome to join us for mass three times a week at: 4802 College Acres Drive (across the street from the UNCW water tower.) Mass times are: Sunday evening at 5:30, Wednesday at 6:00 followed by community night dinner, and Friday at 12:15. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available on Wednesdays at 5:00 or by appointment. Anniversary Mass To honor the sacred vocation of marriage, Bishop Luis Zarama will celebrate a special Wedding Anniversary Mass on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Name of Jesus Cathedral in Raleigh. Every couple or person is welcome to attend the Anniversary Mass. Registration is required for those who are actually celebrating 25, 50 and 60 years of Marriage. These couples will receive a certificate from the diocese honoring those years of matrimony. Everyone else is welcome to attend and does not need to register. If you would like to register please call Rebecca in the office at to assist you. Registration is due by October 10, 2018 for this special Mass. We need to have the information required as to how many will be attending the Mass along with the couple and a few more logistics. Thank you!
