These pictures are from last weekend s donations. If you are bringing food items to help out St. Joe s, you can bring these with you to Mass on the weekend. SACRAMENTS PARISH STAFF Reconciliation: Confessions are usually heard on Saturdays from 4:15 PM - 5:00 PM in the Reconciliation Room at the Church, or at other times by appointment. Communal Services are scheduled during Advent and Lent. Eucharistic Adoration: Usually 12:30 to 4pm on Thursdays. Baptisms: Important information can be found on our website at as to how to get started. Baptisms for children are scheduled no more than 2 months in advance. Adults interested in becoming Catholic should inquire about the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA). Anointing: Persons concerned about their health are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of the Sick. Marriage: Our wedding guidelines document which contains key information can be found at Couples planning marriage are asked to contact the Parish Office at least 6 months prior to their proposed wedding date. Confirmation: Adults seeking Confirmation should call the Parish Office. Young people are usually confirmed in the 10th grade after two years of preparation. 4 2019 Bishop s Annual Appeal (BAA) The Bishop s Annual Appeal is not about me. It s about the Bishop as the shepherd; fulfilling a responsibility to all of the people of the Diocese of Raleigh. The Annual Appeal is about serving helping pastors do God s work in ways they cannot do alone. None of us can do it alone. We need to serve each other so that we can better serve others. The Bishop s Annual Appeal is our opportunity to support the work of the Catholic Church in Eastern North Carolina, with support going to more than 30 pastoral, educational and human service programs within the Diocese of Raleigh. Please give prayerful consideration to your sacrificial donation. You can mail your donation along with the completed pledge card in the addressed envelope provided by the diocese or drop it in the Offertory at Mass and we will send it for you. Weather permitting, there will be a table set up in the courtyard after all the Masses next weekend for the convenience of those who have not yet donated. There are extra pledge cards and envelopes available at the back of church. Toiletry Drive - This Weekend St. Therese is holding it s annual toiletry drive this weekend, supporting the International Seamen's Center and Mother Hubbard s Cupboard. The Seaman's Center at the Port of Wilmington opened in February of The Center ministers to over 7,000 seamen annually coming here from every corner of the world. More than 70% of these men are Catholic. These men serve on cargo ships for approximately 9 to 12 months at a time. Half of what we collect Feb 9th & 10th will go to the Seamen s Center and the other half will be given to Mother Hubbard s Cupboard. This is one of Wilmington s very respected agencies which serves those who are hungry by providing emergency food all year long. Our thanks to all who are supporting this effort! From the Diocese of Raleigh Office of Child and Youth Protection Diocese of Raleigh During the holidays, it was announced that the Diocese would publish an update on Diocesan Child and Youth Protection efforts. Brochures in both English and Spanish entitled Promise to Protect, Pledge to Heal are available in the back of the Church. It is our hope that this brochure will provide you with helpful information. Catholic Charities - Looking for Volunteers From the local Catholic Charities office Catholic Charities is in need of volunteers in our office during walk-in hours from 9am to 11:30 am Tuesday though Friday - we do find ourselves very shorthanded on Tuesday and Thursday. Our volunteers are very important to us - without them we could not function. Typically, a volunteer would assist us by gathering toiletry items from our backroom for clients, assembling bags of food from our food pantry on Fridays, and assisting clients with carrying their items to their vehicles in the parking deck below us (we have an elevator). We also have a small baby shop in our office, where mothers can obtain clothing for their infants at no cost. Volunteers assist with stocking the baby room with clothing we have, stocking diapers from the diaper bank in the office, and assisting clients when shopping in the baby shop.
