There are also active prayer and Bible study groups, as well as women s, men s and youth groups. 3 DOVER DISTRICT THE TALK WE NEED TO HAVE On Saturday November 8, 2014 Union United Methodist Church 2 N. Laws St. Bridgeville, DE will be hosting a seminar/workshop titled The Talk We Need to Have. It will begin at 9:00 a.m until 12:00 noon. Check-in will begin at 8:00 a.m. and a continental breakfast will be served. This seminar/workshop will feature a variety of speakers who will provide information on how we can and should prepare our family members for the time when difficult medical/financial decisions need to be made and we are no longer capable of making them. Family members are already under a great deal of stress and anxiety and need to know what our wishes are. Although this is a challenging and very personal topic it makes it much easier for those family members left to deal with the situation. This event is free and open to the public. Pre-registration is required for planning of food and materials needed by speakers. 5 DOVER DISTRICT Women's Worship Services (Ladies Night Out) at Slaughter Neck UMC, to be held the 2nd Friday of each month (next one on November 14, 2014) starting at 7:00 p.m. These services will not include religious formalities, nor will they hold any expectations of those who walk through the doors. No matter if you've walked with the Lord for many years OR if you've never surrendered your life to Christ, you are encouraged to come. It will simply be a time of women coming together to sing (or sit and listen to, if you prefer) praises to God, hear the Word of God spoken, and experience the unconditional love of Christ. Services will be led by Sharon Stevens and held in the Sanctuary. Greenwood United Methodist Church has a Baby Pantry ministry to supply those in need with diapers, baby food, and formula. The Pantry is open each week on Wednesdays from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. and serves twenty-five to thirty families each week. We have families coming in from all over the western communities in Sussex and Kent Counties. Often the amount of these three items provided by government programs is insufficient for the weekly and monthly needs for these families. The success and continuation of this program depends on the assistance we receive from other churches and non-profits in the area. Monetary donations and donations of diapers, food and formula made be made by contacting the church by phone at and leaving a message. Pastor Doug Harbaugh or one of the volunteers with the Baby Pantry will return your call. If you donate diapers, please feel free to purchase the store brand, e.g. at Walmart it's Parents Choice, and we especially need sizes 4 and 5. 7 EASTON DISTRICT National Documentary Premier IN PLAIN SIGHT The documentary film is narrated by Natalie Grant, Grammy Nominee and five-time Gospel Music Association Female Vocalist of the year and coproduced by David Trotter. Also featuring Jeanne Allert, Executive Director of the Baltimore Samaritan Women, as one of six women across the United States trying to provide hope and freedom from sex trafficking. FOLLOWED BY A QUESTION/ANSWER DISCUSSION This is a wake-up call for parents. Kids are looking for love, care, attention and shelter. Traffickers use those needs and desires to manipulate children, ultimately making profit for themselves. Many children come from broken homes, where they may have experienced sexual abuse, making them highly vulnerable. This film features six extraordinary women who are providing care for survivors and stopping sex trafficking. They have filmed in Nashville, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Little Rock and Sacramento. The documentary is focused on the power of hope, the people who are making a difference, and the transformational stories that are emerging. Sex trafficking is sexual slavery. Women and children are, sometimes, being sold through ads in the back of weekly newspapers, posts on Craigslist.com and Backpage.com, at massage parlors, via escort services, at truck stops, and at motels.
