If you are new to the parish, please introduce yourself to a member of the Parish Staff after Mass or at your convenience. Sacrament of Matrimony Couples should make arrangements with one of our priests or deacon at least six months before the wedding. Pastoral Care of the Sick and Elderly Please contact the Parish Center Office to make arrangements, if you are going into the hospital, or have a family member who is homebound and would like to receive the Sacrament of the Sick. If a family member cannot come to church and would like to receive Communion at home, please notify us. Dear Friends, You should have received the Grand Annual Appeal in the mail this week, along with the annual Financial Report for fiscal year As you can see from the Financial Report, we have made progress in cutting expenses and increasing revenue. We need to continue this progress in order for our parishes to thrive. Please give to the Grand Annual as your means allow; if everyone pitches in, we will be successful. 4 Page 4 Collaborative of St. Francis of Assisi Parish & St. Joseph Parish, Medford, MA National Coast to Coast Rosary Rally October 7 th at St. Joseph Saint Joseph School was pleased to welcome International Students from China who were visiting the United States. These students, pictured here with Principal Tim Forti and Fr. Peter Shen, attended grades 4 and 6 at Saint Joseph School last week. The Collaborative of St. Joseph & St. Francis invites you to join us in participating in the National Coast to Coast Rosary Rally for our country on October 7, 2018 at St. Joseph Church. The Event begins at 3:30 pm with the Divine Mercy Chaplet, followed by the Rosary at 4:00 pm, Eucharistic Procession and Benediction. We will open our doors at 3:00 pm.

With the Holidays fast approaching, we are looking for $10.00 gift cards for supermarkets for our Thanksgiving Dinners. This year we would like them earlier as we will be giving our Turkeys earlier. As always we appreciate your generosity. You may leave them in the box at the back of the church, at the Collaborative Office at 114 High Street, or at the Food Pantry on Thursdays from 12pm to 4pm. Thanks, Jerri DiClemente Page 5 Parish Facilities Rentals Several facilities within the campus of St. Joseph and St. Francis of Assisi parishes are available for rental to parishioners and groups closely affiliated to our parishes. These facilities include the Gymnasiums, Dining Halls, and conference rooms. Availability is limited as we are fortunate to have many active Parish ministries, Faith Formation and School programs which use these facilities on a regular basis. For details on fees, availability and policies regulating use of facilities, please visit our website at or call the Parish Office at St. Francis of Assisi Decorating Committee St. Francis of Assisi is looking to form a new Decorating Committee. Primary responsibilities are decorating for Christmas and Easter with smaller projects for 1st Communions and Confirmation. St. Joseph Parish Annual Concert Sunday, October 14 th at 2pm The music ministry invites you to join us on Sunday afternoon, October 14, 2018, at 2pm in the upper church, for our St. Joseph Parish Annual Concert. Both our Adult and Youth Choirs and The Messengers (our young adult music group) will perform, and there will be an opportunity for the audience to join with us in singing! This year's program, entitled, "Building Bridges, is being dedicated to Prayer for Unity in our communities and in the world, and will once again consist of a varied program of sacred, classical and popular selections. A portion of the proceeds from our concert ad book will be donated to UnityWorks Foundation, a national 501(c)3 nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote understanding of the oneness of humanity, the value of diversity, and the need for unity - with a focus on education and schools. There will be a luncheon in the social center following the concert, catered by Carroll's Restaurant in Medford (kindness of parishioner, Attorney Victor Garo). Please note: when you arrive for the concert, you will receive a voucher which will enable you to attend the luncheon. We are looking for an individual who possesses a firm grasp of the fundamental teachings of the Catholic Faith; has strong organizational and interpersonal skills; possesses demonstrated ability to multi-task and has a background in clerical and or office administration with working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software products & knowledge of Connect Now our parish database management software - preferred, but will provide training. The graces of this sacrament are Strength, Peace and Courage in times of illness. We come together as a community to pray for healing for one another. After Mass, lunch will be provided at the St. Joseph Parish Social Center next to the church. Both the church and social center have wheelchair access.
