Trinity Lutheran Church teaches and confesses that although all people are imperfect, the Heavenly Father sent His Son Jesus Christ to live the perfect life for us, die on the cross in payment for our sins, and rise from the grave to open the door to eternal life. The Bible clearly teaches that those who live and believe in Jesus Christ have the promise of everlasting life in heaven. We offer two worship styles each Sunday: Traditional Services at 8:00 and 10:30 a.m. in the Sanctuary and a Contemporary Service at 10:45 in the gym. We also offer a Wednesday evening Traditional Service at 7:00 p.m. in the Sanctuary. We pray God will bless your worship and invite you to return and worship with us soon. If you are without a church home, we invite you to join us at Trinity Lutheran. We d consider it an honor and privilege to have you grow with us in the Christian faith. Please fill out a registration card located on the back of the pew in front of you and include your full name and address. Please introduce yourself to one of our Pastors after the service. Remote Hearing Units are available from the ushers. Please return them after the service. Children s Bulletins filled with activities geared to youngsters are available from the ushers. Staffed Infant/Toddler care is available in the Nursery for children ages three and under on Sundays during the 8:00 service, Sunday School (9:15), the 10:30 and 10:45 a.m. services. Busy Bags for the hands of small children are available at the Welcome Center (Traditional Services) and from the ushers (Contemporary Service). This informational booklet written by Rev. John Pless was produced to assist with crucial decisions about medical treatment and care for loved ones at end-of-life. The booklet provides some guidance in asking the right questions when end-of-life issues such as hospice or treatment in the intensive care room happen in our lives. 2 Contemporary Altar Flowers are donated today by Mike & Dana Falkenberg in loving memory of Dana s dad, Moe Damman, to commemorate his 81 st birthday. During Pastor Carr s surgery recovery, please note that Pastor Kleimola, Deaconess Hibbard and Principal Landskroener will be assisting with hospital calls and visits. If you have an emergency during the next month, please call the church office, and we will arrange for someone to assist you. Deaconess Hibbard will make calls Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, with Principal Landskroener filling in (especially on Thursdays). Pastor Kleimola will be available at all other times. Thank you for your patience, and please continue to pray for all of our members and their families who are ill, and also for Pastor Carr. Bringing up Boys, a video study by Dr. James Dobson, and facilitated by Principal Landskroener, resumes today at 9:15 a.m. in the 8 th grade classroom. Trinity to Install Field Worker today Today we welcome to Trinity s staff Seminarian Jacob Deal, who has been assigned to us from Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne for the Fall and Winter Quarters of the Academic Year. This on-site internship will be a great blessing for us during Pastor Carr s recovery period and Pastor Voorman s leave of absence. This internship will certainly enhance Mr. Deal s training for the pastoral ministry of our church body. Jacob is a life-long Lutheran and was confirmed here at Trinity in He graduated from the University of Toledo with a BA in Communication. Jacob is the oldest son of members Todd & Robin Deal. He served Trinity as a short-term lay missionary for two trips to Haiti in March and June of He is currently in his second year of studies at the Seminary. Please welcome Jacob and his wife, Ana as they serve in our midst for the next six months. His duties will include preaching and worship leadership as well as teaching the Sunday Morning Youth Bible Class and visiting in the hospitals (on Sundays). Trinity has arranged for a new pictorial directory to be published for our church. Photographs will be taken beginning October 26 th. Dates for the pictures are: October 26 from 9-3; October 27 from 8:30-1:30; October 28, 29 and 30 th from 5:00 8:00 p.m. and finally, November 2 nd from 9:00 3:00. Check your schedules and be ready to sign up. Mission Trip. If you are interested in considering the possibility of going on a Short Term Mission Trip to Guatemala in the summer of 2014; plan on attending an informational meeting on Tuesday, October 1 st at 6:30 pm in the Luther Room. Contact Pastor Kleimola via if you have any questions. Altar Guild will meet on Tuesday, September 17 th at 6:30 p.m. in the Conference Room. Trinity Lutheran School Chapel will be lead by Pastor Shirrel Petzoldt of Good Shepherd of the Deaf Lutheran Church on Wednesday, September 18 th at 8:25 a.m. Please plan now to join us. Sunday, September 22 nd, Rev. Terry Cripe, President of the Ohio District LCMS, will lead us in worship during the 8:00 and 10:45 worship services. Pastor Cripe will also lead the Adult Bible Study in the Luther Room. Cancer Awareness Bracelets. We have available (for a donation of $5.00) cancer awareness bracelets on our Welcome Centers. They are brown with purple engraving that states: Our God is greater than cancer. Show your support for cancer patients and survivors of this disease. The donations received will go to the Trinity Comfort Dog Ministry Fund. We are trying to gather the funds to begin a Care Dog Ministry here at Trinity. Comfort Dog Ministry? K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry is a ministry utilizing the unique skills of dogs to open opportunities to touch people with the mercy and compassion of Christ. The comfort dogs are trained service animals prepared to interact with people in ways that provide a bridge for compassionate ministry to take place. Trinity would utilize a Comfort Dog Ministry as an outreach tool for interacting with patients in nursing homes, homebound members, school children and throughout the community. We would have a committee of committed individuals to care for and present the comfort dog to various venues. Have you made your reservation for Friendship Circle as they Come on Board for the Canal Experience at Providence on September 12 th? After a ride on the mule-drawn canal boat, a luncheon will be enjoyed at Miss Lilly s in downtown Grand Rapids. For carpooling, meet at the East Parking Lot of Trinity on the 12 th at 10:00 a.m. The cost is $5.00 to ride the boat and you must make your reservation today with Grace Harris at

3 Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet here at Trinity in the Luther Room on Tuesday, September 10 th at 1:30 p.m. Please plan to join them. You are cordially invited to attend Concordia University s Cantus Men s Vocal Ensemble as they perform on Sunday, September 22 nd at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Holy Trinity on the Concordia University Ann Arbor Campus. Tickets are $15.00; seniors $ Feed My Starving Children. Globe offerings will be collected each Sunday through October 6 th for this ministry. Your donations of any amount are appreciated. Historical Exhibit! Trinity s Historical Committee is displaying graduating class photographs dating back over twenty-eight years. The displays line the hallways so take a few moments as you walk through to view all the photographs. At the same time, a display of documents and pictures reflecting the history of Trinity School are located in the Trinity Room. Stop in and see how many people you can identify from Trinity s past. Our thanks to our committee who have worked hard this summer to put together this nostalgic and informative display of Trinity s past. Ladies mark your calendars! This year s CRHP (Christ Renews His Parish) retreat will be on October 12 & 13, 2013 here at Trinity. This year s theme is "I Love You, Lord" and promises to be full of friendship, fellowship, food, and fun! And it's FREE! For more information or questions contact Kristy Snyder (419) LWML will be collecting used eyeglasses for MOST Ministries of Ann Arbor, Michigan. If you have used prescription, over-the counter reading or especially children s glasses, please bring them to church and place them in the boxes located on or near the Welcome Centers. Your help with this project will help to provide reading glasses to the less fortunate around the globe. Tickets for the Women s Luncheon are available after services today. The luncheon will be held here in Trinity's Luther Room on Saturday, September 28th. "A Sandwich of Great Value" is our theme for the luncheon. Deaconess Mary Anne Hibbard will share experiences of a mission trip to India where she visited a leper colony. Tickets are $8.00. Plan to come for fellowship, hear an interesting program and of course, have some good food. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member. Brass Choir Practices will now be held on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. in the Music Room. Rehearsals will begin on September 16 th. Although God calls each of us to follow and serve Him, many of us are much more concerned about our own lives and goals than assisting in the Lord s work. If we focus on I, me, mine, and myself, we take care of number one to the exclusion of helping and serving. In our prayers, we should be asking God to grant us hearts that want to serve, and we should be asking Him, What do You want to achieve through me today? The Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost... September 8, 2013 Lights, Camera, Auction! On November 1 st we hope you will plan to come and have an evening out to enjoy fun and fellowship with church and school friends. The proceeds of the event are designated to offset the cost of technology and student services and will support the overall ministry of Trinity Lutheran School and Church. Action! We are asking for your help. First and foremost, we ask that you would please pray for the many volunteers as they use their time and talents to prepare for this exciting event.
