St. Paul's faith community supports approximately a dozen agencies through gifts purchased each year by our parishioners for the Giving Tree. Thank you for your generosity in choosing angels (for individuals) or stars (for general agency distribution to their guests/clients) from the Giving Tree. For questions: Contact Sharon Rehnberg at evening hours only. You are invited for Bereavement Support. St. Paul Catholic Parish is offering three sessions for people who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Please allow us to nourish you, pamper you, and empower you, in a loving environment. We, St. Paul s Bereavement Committee, believe that as we are supportive of people in times of joy, we also want to walk with those in times of sadness, loneliness and mourning and help them bear their burden of sorrow. Our sessions are planned for Sunday mornings, after 9am mass, in the Family Room from 10:15 Noon. The facilitator will be Cathy Labinski, a retired hospice chaplain, and Mary Kingsley. On November 25, an overview of the grieving process will be presented. On December 2, we will focus on how to take care of oneself as one moves through the grieving process. On December 9, ideas will be shared on how to get through the holidays which are just around the corner. Light refreshments will be served, so please RSVP to St. Paul Parish Office at to help us plan appropriately or just come. We want to help you walk through a dark time. - the Bereavement Ministry Team Our Catholic faith We have a series of sessions on Sunday mornings for people who wish to become Catholic (RCIA). If you would like to brush up on some of your Catholic faith, you are welcome to come, too! Please see the schedule on the parish website (in the RCIA section in the Faith Formation tab). If you would like to attend, please let our team leaders, Beth and Peter McFadzen (bpmc90@wi.rr.com); know so they can send you the reading materials ahead of time. Beth and Peter facilitate the discussion along with Deacon Joe Senglaub, and, when time permits, Fr Dan. The sessions run from 10-11:30am in the Family Room at St. Paul. WORK & PRAY Our next gathering is Dec 3 at 9:00am in the Family Rm. Join our group of knitters and crocheters to create prayer shawls for anyone who needs one. Join us anytime. If you or someone you know would find comfort in a prayer shawl whether at home, in the hospital or nursing home, please contact the parish office. Faith Formation Keeping the Faith What the Heart of Jesus Looks Like P - Pray everyday R - Read Scripture daily E - Eucharist - go to Mass and Receive it weekly P - Participate in Parish life - we need you A - Ask for forgiveness - go to Reconciliation R - Reach out to the Least e - evangelize - share Jesus with others I have had an opportunity to belong to a mom's group here at St. Paul's - even though I'm not a mom. The ladies are generous enough to let me join them regardless - I kinda feel like I am getting invited to sit at the cool kids' table in middle school when I am with these ladies! I am in awe of their generous and loving hearts... hearts that seek to remind each other of the dignity and worth we have as women created in God's image and likeness. Their hearts seek to lift one another up and remind each other that we are important... every single one of us. Even when we don't feel like it. In each of them, I see Jesus. I see His heart revealed. Want to know what His heart looks like? Because, I can tell you what it looks like: It looks like the unconditional love of a mom cuddling her daughter after a bee sting (it was sad - we all felt it) It looks like a cup of coffee brewed with love and a great attempt to avoid grounds in the coffee (which is a heroic effort given some of the coffee makers here) It looks like baked goods delivered, delighted in and gratefully devoured... with people taking care so even I was able to have some (and that hardly happens unless I bring it) It looks like hearts revealing struggles and victories - both big and small It looks vulnerable at times - willing to share even struggles It looks like marriages rejoiced over and husbands discussed and cherished It looks like an encouraging smile or word given It looks like prayers offered It looks mamas loving on their kiddos It looks like little kiddos looking up to mom during prayer and joining us in the sign of the cross and a Hail Mary But mostly, the heart of Jesus looks like Kelsey, Chris, Ann- Marie, Rosa, Maria, Amy, Missy, Jamie and Marisa. Each of us have the ability to share Jesus with those around us. We need to lift one another up. And... as we grow to love Jesus, we cannot help but to share Him. And, as we share Jesus and have Jesus shared with us, we are transformed and renewed. We begin to see ourselves, not as the world does, but as Jesus does. Jesus looks on each of us and simply loves that we are. As we are transformed and renewed... the world around us becomes better and is transformed and renewed as well. All because we chose to be Jesus to one another. 3

If you can help with this, auction@stpaulgenesee.net Plan to stay after mass on Nov 25 to pray the Rosary. Patrick Duemling will be leading us in praying the rosary for all the ministries of the parish. We are planning to repeat this every month. BIRTHDAY WISHES Happy Birthday to Gordy Carlson, turning 88 on Nov 24 and Don Martin, 89 on Nov. 24. Best Wishes to all who are celebrating this week!! Get connected to our POWER! Barb, thank you so much for your time and above and beyond commitment to St. Paul Catholic School! Barb implemented our Coding and Maker space this year and has done amazing projects and activities with the students! Check out our school Facebook page to see pictures of some of the projects. As many of you already know, Barb s passion is being our librarian. She spends countless hours making our library one of the best school libraries around by keeping it up to date with new and interesting books. She recently hosted our week long book fair and carried much of the workload herself. Not only did she spend time here at school setting up the book fair, she also spent time at home creating decorations to bring our Enchanted Forest to life and baking goodies for the students to enjoy after purchasing a book. Who else do you know that will dress up like a bear and Clifford to promote their book fair?! I have never seen a book fair as elaborate as the one Barb coordinated. It is because of Barb that our book fair is so successful. During book fair week, Barb also hosted three VIP lunches. VIP lunches allow students to invite special people in their lives (grandparents, aunts, uncles) to enjoy lunch with them and go to the book fair afterwards. Additional thanks goes to Jennifer Harder, Gina Rhodes, Denise Vavra, Ann Bielinski, Maria Myers, and Dennis Budzban for their help with the book fair and VIP lunches! And in case Barb isn t busy enough with all of these activities, she is also our Student Council advisor! She meets regularly with our student council members, helping them come up with different activities for our school. We recently had a book fair coin drive raising money to buy Spanish books for our sister parish and school, St. Clare in Peru. The goal was $ The students at St. Paul raised $250.33! Barb s reward for them reaching the goal is her special homemade chocolate chip cookies! We can t wait to taste our reward! Once again, THANK YOU, Barb, for the many ways you serve St. Paul Catholic School! We are truly blessed to have you! Just a reminder, registration is open throughout the year. Continue to spread the word about St. Paul School! Contact us at for a school tour. We may be exactly what you are looking for in a school! CASH OR TUITION RAFFLE Raffle drawing will be on December 12th. Join our Family, Angela Gunderson, Principal St. Paul School For the Kids Sharing the Gospel Today's Gospel reading gives us both a warning and a promise. One day Jesus will come back, so we need to be ready. For those of us who follow God to the end, Jesus promises to take us to heaven. So live every day like you are going to meet Jesus. One day you will. Prayer Dear God, keep me close to you until I live with you in heaven. Mission for the Week Invite a friend to come to church with you. Share a meal together, and talk about the promise Jesus made about heaven. 4

5 Why Do We Do That?-Catholic Tradition Explained Question: I've heard that gratitude is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. What does that mean? Answer: In St. Paul's letter to the Galatians, he talks about the "fruits of the Holy Spirit." He is referencing an idea that Jesus talks about frequently in the Gospels. "By their fruits you will know them" (Matthew 7:16). He uses the example of a plant. If the plant is healthy, it will bear good fruit. If the plant is unhealthy, it will bear rotten fruit or none at all. Jesus echoes this idea at the Last Supper, when he says that if we remain close to him we will "bear much fruit" (John 15:8). If we allow the Holy Spirit to work in our lives, we will bear the fruits of the Spirit! Technically, gratitude is not one of the fruits St. Paul lists. "The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control" (Galatians 5:22-23). But doesn't that sound like the response of a grateful heart? When we're grateful, we experience a sense of joy and peace that makes it easier to love. We can be kind, patient, generous, and gentle with others rather than possessive or competitive. When we're grateful, we don't need to grasp at what we don't have. We practice self-control. Gratitude helps us to be faithful, knowing God will always be with us. Sounds like good fruit to me! The Catholic Study Club: We welcome women belonging to any Catholic parish in Waukesha County. Our next luncheon will be on Tuesday, December 11 th. Following the luncheon will be entertainment by the Spirituality Ambassadors of Harmony, our Christmas Study Program. Reservations are required and due Service by Tuesday, December 4 th, please give me a call...rita Keber, Advent Day of Prayer Wednesday, December 5, 2018 Redemptorist Retreat Center 1800 N.
