2 FROM YOUR PASTOR S PEN I get these s from Daniel Cellucci because of a Catholic leadership seminar that I have been a part of. I have used his reflections before and received this one in my today, so I am sharing it with you to ponder in your heart. Is your heart shattered? The Church Fathers teach us that a shattered heart is the most pleasing gift to God. It is the sign that we are conscious of our sins, of the evil we have done, of our wretchedness, and of our need for forgiveness and mercy. ~Pope Francis It was an atheist who once told me, The only way to be absolutely invulnerable is to be absolutely vulnerable. That thought has stayed with me for years. I d like to think that I have never had a problem owning a mistake. After all, I ve had lots of practice, just ask my wife Tricia. However, putting it all out there and giving voice to our faults is only one part of the equation. With my classic and endearing (or so I d like to believe) self-deprecating humor, I may share chips and dents with those I meet. But, do I lay the all the shattered pieces of my heart at God s feet, not because I want to be invulnerable, but because I know He is the only one who can truly make me whole? Why do I hide my shattered heart from this invisible, silent, merciful God who loves me? He doesn t seek for me to be shamed or embarrassed. Better yet, why do I keep thinking he can t see it? Let s pray this week for our hearts to be made absolutely invulnerable by making them absolutely vulnerable to God s love and mercy. Discerning Insights About Leadership from Daniel J. The Day-End Dough-Nation program at Panera Bread shares unsold bread and bakery products with us once/week. We have some faithful angels from St. Paul Parish who pick up the products and distribute them to places like Casa Maria House of Hospitality s shelter for homeless women and children, St. Ben s Community Meal and the Milwaukee Rescue Mission. We thank Panera Bread for their assistance in the corporal work of mercy to feed the hungry and we thank our volunteers for picking up and delivering these delicious treats. Sept 1 - First day of School Sept 5 - Labor Day, No School Sept 7 - Parent Night (3K-8), 6:30pm Blessed Art Coming to St. Paul and St. Bruno August 20/21. Blest Art will be visiting your parish on behalf of the Christian families in Bethlehem, Palestine. Our mission is to support those families in the Holy Land. For centuries, the Christians in and around Bethlehem have earned a living by carving religious olive wood art to sell to visiting pilgrims. Fewer pilgrims are journeying to the Holy Land today, making it difficult for those Christians to support their families. As a result, there has been a dramatic rise in Christian emigration from the Holy Land. Now, less than 1% of the population in the Holy Land is Christians. Blest Art Inc. helps the struggling Christian families of Bethlehem by marketing their artwork in the United States. Due to this work, we help many Christian families to maintain their livelihood and their ancestral homes in the land of our Lord. When Blest Art visits your parish, we will have hand-carved nativity sets, statues, crosses, rosaries, and many other pieces of beautiful olive wood art. We kindly invite you to visit our display and to consider purchasing a piece of art from the Holy Land. In doing so, you will help support the many families who depend on this form or art for their living. Your purchase will make a difference in the lives of many Christian families. We gladly accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Please note that we do not ask for, nor do we accept, any donations. Check out their website at JOIN THE ST. BRUNO BOOK CLUB The next meeting is Sept 13, 9AM in the St. Bruno Family room. We always welcome new members. You do not have to have read the book, just come, enjoy the discussion, coffee and snacks.
