Please call the parish office in advance to register for the class and the baptism. Sacrament of Marriage The common policy of the Diocese of Madison requires a six month minimum notice before the date of marriage. Sick Calls or Team Care Please notify the parish office if you or someone you know would like Holy Communion at home, is in the hospital, or in need of Team Care.

2 NEWS & NOTES Baptism Blessings We welcome into God s family and our parish family, Matthew Russell Turba, son of Timothy and Elaine who celebrated the Holy Sacrament of his Baptism last Sunday. God s blessings to Matthew and his family. In Sincere Sympathy Thomas Joseph Clark Sr. passed away last week. Kindly remember Tom, his wife Jean and his family in your prayers. As part of the Traveling Chalice program each host family is asked to say a prayer each day as a family for increased vocations and for current seminarians in the diocese, and to display the chalice in an appropriate but visible place at home. Look for sign-up sheets for August at Saint Michael, September at Saint Thomas and October at Saint Patrick near the church entrance. Also another thanks to Sharon Sellner for serving as the coordinator of this event. Sharon has been the coordinator for so very many years and was just a little girl when she remembers our Festival being held on a weekday evening! What a testament to her dedication and love for Jesus Christ and our parish. Thanks to all - enjoy this wonderful day! A Prayer For Our Students Dear God, Thank you for the Gift of education in every form. As our children prepare to start a new year may confidence be their foundation, may grace be their guide and may hope be their compass toward a bright future. We pray they would have eyes to see the needs of those around them and a heart to love well. May they face each day with positivity knowing that no matter what comes their way, they do not have to face it alone. Amen.

3 PARISH & COMMUNITY EVENTS Third Quarter Birthday Party Our quarterly birthday celebration for parishioners observing their 80th and above birthday in the months of July, August, September will be held this Tuesday, August 22 following the 8:00 am. Mass at Saint Patrick Church in the parish hall, Lodi (8:45-9:45 am). A spouse, family member, friend or care-giver is invited to join those celebrating! Volunteers to assist with light refreshments, or set-up and clean-up chores are needed. Please contact Cindy Fischer in the parish office to assist. Thank you! August Donations For Lodi Community Store: Food: Gelatin and pudding mixes (instant), canned fruit, cereal, graham crackers, granola bars, canned fish and meat (tuna, salmon, chicken, spam, ham, etc.) canned pasta meals (spaghetti, ravioli). Personal Essentials: toilet tissue, kleenex, paper towels, paper napkins, hand soap and body wash, q-tips, underarm deodorants and antiperspirants, feminine hygiene products, disposable diapers (toddlers and up to size 5), children's socks - all sizes. Household Items: dish detergent, laundry detergent, fabric softener sheets, large (30 gal.) garbage bags, tall kitchen garbage bags, wash cloths, hand towels and bath towels Respect Life Retreat, September 15 & 16 Vigil For Life invites you to come away to be re-energized in your prayer and work to protect life. Please join us for this Respect Life Retreat led by Fr. Eric Sternberg, pastor of St. Cecelia Parish in Wisconsin Dells. The retreat will run Friday evening, September 15through 3:30 pm on Saturday, September 16 at Durward s Glen Retreat Center in Baraboo. $85 with overnight room or $30 for commuters. Classes begin the week of September 10. Volunteers are needed at all program levels. Specific Needs: Sunday Morning - Preschool OR Kindergarten teacher and two room assistants; Wednesday Afternoon, Grade One teacher and room assistant, Grade Two room assistant, Grade Three teacher and room assistant, Grade Five Teacher and Room Assistant. Each teacher is provided with a parish RE manual (new this year) which presents the weekly lesson in a step-by-step process and you also have the guidance of the program coordinator and our catechist resource center. Thank you for giving thought to how you can support this parish ministry. We cannot provide classes without the gracious donation of time and talent from you, our parishioners as teachers of the Faith.
