Living a stewardship lifestyle, being grateful and generous with our gifts, serves a twofold purpose. One, it helps build God s kingdom here on earth. Two, it is a road map to Heaven. Let s help each other get there! PRAYER FOR FATHERS God our Father, through the intercession of St. Joseph, foster father of Your Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, we give you thanks and praise for all fathers in the world. We pray for them so that they may they find courage and perseverance to balance work, family and faith in joy and sacrifice. We pray for those whose children are lost or suffering; May they know that the God of compassion walks with them in their sorrow. We pray for men, especially the priests and monks, who are not fathers but still mentor and guide us with fatherly love and advice. We remember fathers, grandfather, and great grandfathers who are no longer with us but who live forever in our memory and nourish us with their love. Amen Taken from

4 Page 4 SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION Sacramental Preparation St. James Parish If your Child has not received the Sacraments at St. James Church or St. Michael s Church, a copy of their certificate of Baptism must be given at time of registration. If you are interested in learning more about Sacrament Preparation please contact Leanne by at: religiousedu@stjamesparishrc.com or call FIRST RECONCILIATION 2017 For Grades 3 and up. Registration will begin again in September CONFIRMATION 2018 For Grades 6,7,8 and up for Registration will begin again in September FIRST COMMUNION 2018 For Grades 2 and up. Registration will begin again in September BAPTISM PREPARATION Registration takes place at the Parish Office before the session. A Baptism Preparation session is required for the baptism of your first child. Baptisms take place the 2 nd and 4 th Sundays of each month after the 11am mass in Okotoks, and at the 9am mass in Black Diamond. 5:30pm also available. Cost is $ Session One: Wednesday, September 13th, 7pm If your child is older than seven years and in need of baptism, please contact the parish office at MARRIAGE PREPARATION Phone the Parish Office at least 6 months before marriage and make an appointment. Marriage preparation sessions are mandatory for those preparing for marriage. 6 Page 6 Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary Announcements from the Catholic Pastoral Centre For June 18th, 2017 Corpus Christi FAMINE RELIEF FUND FOR SOUTH SUDAN, SOMALIA, NIGERIA, YEMEN - The CCCB, in its interfaith appeal letter to support the famine relief in Africa and Yemen declares Our joint appeal is a unified cry from the heart, with one voice and one message... the insistent call for peace and the need to protect the vulnerable. The protection and promotion of human dignity are foundational elements of all our faith communities. Willful indifference towards violations against human dignity is always wrong, at all times and in all places. Parishes have been asked to take up a second collection to support the Famine Relief Fund. - Individual donations can also be made directly on the diocesan website: - All donations made before June 30 will be matched by the federal government. Please continue to pray for all those suffering from hunger and the humanitarian workers working in the region. CONSECRATION OF CANADA TO THE IMMACULATE HEART OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY As part of the celebrations marking the 150th anniversary of Confederation the Bishops of Canada will be consecrating our country to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Bishop McGrattan will consecrate the Diocese of Calgary on 1 July, All are invited to St. Mary s Cathedral at 10am for a service of Adoration, Scripture, rosary, and the consecration followed by a BBQ. The regular daily Mass at St. Mary s remains at 9 am followed by exposition of the Blessed Sacrament.
