Link: Stewardship Reflection: October 8, th Sunday in Ordinary Time The stone the builders rejected has become the corner stone - MATTHEW 21:42 Jesus was the corner stone and He was rejected by the religious and political leaders of his day, as well as ordinary citizens. Living a stewardship lifestyle may cause you to be rejected by others in today s society. For example, saying grace before a meal in a restaurant may attract some strange looks from some. But to others it is sign that God is alive and well! Let us welcome, into our parish community, all the children who have received the Sacrament of Baptism today. We sold 160 pies. A special thank you to the pizza restaurants in our community who provided their boxes to put our pies in: Boston Pizza, Canadian Pizza, Papa Johns and Pizzaberg. We are also grateful for the continued support received from Safeway Stores with 2 boxes of apples and gift cards from Sobeys and our newest supporter Save On Foods. Sessions will take place bi-weekly on the 2 nd & 4 th Tuesdays, starting Sept 26 th, from 7-9pm at St. James Church. Please contact the Parish Office for more information at Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Registration is ongoing for all those interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. Inquirers are instructed in the Catholic Faith and introduced to the life of the Church. The sessions are Tuesdays from 7-9pm at St. James Church. For more information please call the Parish Office at Starting Oct. 10th. BAPTISM PREPARATION Registration takes place at the Parish Office before the session. A Baptism Preparation session is required for the baptism of your first child. (Baptisms take place the 2 nd and 4 th Sundays of each month after the 11am mass in Okotoks, and at the 9am mass in Black Diamond. 5:30pm also available. ) Cost is $ Next Session : Wednesday, September 13th, 7pm (If your child is older than seven years and in need of baptism, please contact the parish office at ) *NEW* As per Diocesan guidelines, the following documents are now required when requesting baptism: Birth Certificate of child Baptismal Certificate of parent(s) Annotated Baptismal Certificate of Godparents MARRIAGE PREPARATION Phone the Parish Office at least 6 months before marriage and make an appointment. 5 Roman Catholic Diocese of Calgary Announcements from the Catholic Pastoral Centre For Oct 8th, th Sunday of Ordinary Time BISHOP'S DINNER Bishop s Dinner We are two weeks away from Bishop McGrattan's very first Bishop s Dinner. Do you have your tickets yet? On Thursday, October 19, our keynote, Michael Chiasson, and Bishop McGrattan will share their thoughts on how youth will impact the future of our Faith. 6 Page 6 This year, World Mission Sunday will take place on October 22. On that day, we celebrate who we are as Christians: missionary disciples. It s a time of prayer. We are also invited to look beyond our local Church in Canada and assist through financial gifts, the missionary work needed in the young dioceses in many developing countries. An example of this work is providing health care centres, building schools, and empowering lay pastoral workers, construction of convents and presbyteries. Please pray for the missions and show generosity on World Mission Sunday. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind. Luke 10:27 Christian yoga is a spiritual discipline, much like prayer, fasting and meditation, designed to facilitate the worship and celebration of God through physical movement and meditation.
