4 Music Box Dr. Marc F. Boensel, Director of Music Ministries Our anthem this week is based on Hymn #451. The text is a prayer asking God to be in our hearts and minds always, and to grant us the promise that even when all else in life is over, He is still with us. The Chancel Choir will begin its regular schedule of Wednesday night rehearsals on August 2, at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary. Please join us, even if you have never sung in choir before and just want to give it a try. The Hand Bell Choir will begin rehearsing at 5pm on Wednesday, August 9. There is room for you in the Hand Bell Choir if you have a love of music and have basic music reading skills. Please join us. Studies have shown that making music in a group setting, like a choir or ensemble, actually lowers blood pressure, relieves anxiety, and improves mood. Make the Music Ministry your spiritual connection with your church this fall! WORSHIP IN SPANISH: 12:20 p.m. worship in Turner Chapel, Rev. José Villegas preaching, Venzamos el temor Salmo 27:1. CONTEMPORARY SERVICE (THE NINE): 9:00 a.m., Ministry Center, The Rev. Brett Maddocks, preaching. ALTAR FLOWERS: The beautiful flowers in the chancel area are given to the glory of God and in loving memory of Agnes and Glenn Albright by the family. OUR KNOWN SICK: Orchard View Rehabilitation (Whitesville Rd.): Gene Dickson, 111P. Emory University Hospital: Mary Rudi Cumisky Pierson, G 707. St. Francis: Bennie Phillips, CV 17. WELCOME NEW MEMBERS: Mrs. Reynolds (Arden Huff) Cheney and her daughter, Miss Dorothy Cheney, join by transfer of their memberships from a church of another denomination. Arden's mother, Judy Hubbard, who is a member of St. Luke, and her husband, Reynolds, stand with her in support of her decision. Mr. Daniel Leon comes by profession of faith. HOW DO I JOIN THE CHURCH? You may become a part of the St. Luke family of God in one of the following ways: 1. If you have never joined a church before, you may become a member by profession of faith in Jesus Christ and by being baptized. If you have already been baptized (as a child or as an adult) in a Christian Church, your baptism is recognized by St. Luke United Methodist Church. You will be asked to uphold St. Luke church with your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. 2. If you are a member of another United Methodist Church or another Christian denomination, indicate to one of the pastors that this is your desire. St. Luke will then transfer your membership. 3. If you have any questions about faith in Christ, about United Methodism in general or St. Luke in particular, please ask one of the pastors!
