Acts 2:1-11 A SIGNIFICANT DAY And suddenly there came from the sky a noise like a strong driving wind, and it filled the entire house in which they were (Acts 2:2). The Holy Spirit s arrival on that first Pentecost was signaled by a rush of wind. We all know what it s like when our windows are open just as a summer storm rises up. Curtains fly, papers become airborne, house plants shudder, dust is scattered. A rush of wind disrupts the orderliness of our home. The coming of the Holy Spirit, as celebrated each year at Pentecost, can also disrupt ways that have become comfortable and orderly. The Church always needs Pentecost. We need the breath of God s Spirit to blow away any complacency or malaise that has settled into our faith. Jesus breathes on his disciples and they receive the Holy Spirit. With that reception comes the power to share the Good News of salvation. Today, this is no less true for us. Copyright J. S. Paluch Co. You could also remember your deceased Mother by ordering a 3 x 3/4 memorial plaque to be placed in our In Memoriam Prayer Room in our church. The requested donation is $ Masses for our beloved departed whose names are inscribed on the memorial plaques are offered once a month in our parish church. We will be making Sun Kits for our friends at the shelter. Planning, cooking and serving will be done in the sub-groups throughout the summer. Santiago Bernard Sha, a priest from the Diocese of Dindigul, India, but currently completing his licentiate in Sacred Scripture in Rome. Fr. Bernard will be helping our parish while Fr. Antony is gone on his vacation to India from May 26 to June 25. We wish Fr. Bernard a pleasant stay with us. There will be a Lector training and information session on Thursday, June 11, in the Parish Center, Fireside Room, at 7:00 pm. Please join us. In addition, all current Lectors are encouraged to attend; we will review upcoming changes. For more information, please call Marina Cuico ================================== Sound System Our sound system for the church was purchased through a generous donation from a long time parishioner about 9 years ago. As with any equipment, our microphones, cords and music stands have had much use and are in desperate need of an update. Upon research, a total of $4, was reached for this need. We are asking all of you to prayerfully consider a donation to purchase these much needed necessities for our sound system. The RCIA: Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults is for those who are interested in becoming Catholic or those wishing to complete their sacraments of initiation, The ministry team participates in sessions, dismissals, discussions, study of scripture, the tenets of our Catholic Faith, and fellowship. St. Barnabas School News Applications for new students and returning students are now available in the school office from 7:45am to 3:00pm, Monday through Friday. New siblings (entering school for their first time) of current St. Barnabas students must also pick-up an application. Mrs. Smith would recite the prayer, one line at a time, and Veronica would faithfully repeat the words. Finally, Veronica decided to go solo.
