10 EARLY LIFE Born in Clounouty, County Tipperary in Ireland Father was the Reverend Canon Robert Renison ( ), a Priest in the Church of Ireland Mother was Mary Elizabeth Kennedy ( ) He had two brothers, William and George and two sisters, Julia and May. The family moved to Canada in 1880 so Reverend Canon Robert Renison could be a missionary on the shores of Lake Nipigon. All three brothers became Anglican or Episcopalian priests

13 EDUCATION Robert John and his brothers attended Trinity College School ( ) He attended the University of Toronto and received a B.A. in English in 1895 He received a Divinity degree from Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto in 1896 From he enlisted in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers under the name Sergeant Patrick O Reilly In 1899 he was ordained as a priest in the Anglican church.
