A Last-Minute Note from Father Carlin I am sorry to report that on Monday, October 24, Bishop Lennon informed us that Father Edward Janoch, parochial vicar at St Charles Parish since June of 2014, will be transferred to St Mary Parish in Chardon, effective December 31, Additional details and date and time of a farewell service will follow in future bulletins. This Sunday, October 30, is a Fifth Sunday of the month. Honoring the long-time practice of our parish, there will be a second collection at Mass today for the St Vincent de Paul Society of St Charles Borromeo Parish. Your faithful, consistent, and generous support of our SVdeP enables our Vincentians to help those who are in need. Next weekend we kick-off our traditional November Canned Food Drive. In addition to stocking our St Charles SVdeP Food Pantry, we also fill the shelves of Our Lady s Kitchen at our Cleveland sister parish, Our Lady of Peace, on East 126 th Street. Last year, thanks to your generosity, we also helped the West Side Catholic Center, St Augustine Meal Program on West 14 th, and the Parma Hunger Center. Leave your non-perishable food items in the church lobbies anytime during the upcoming month. Please check the expiration dates on those donated cans! Those attending this Sunday s 9:00 and 10:30am Masses are invited to this morning s Donut Social, hosted by our Parish Council, in the Lower Parish Hall. We hope to see you there! Still hungry? Then come to the St Charles Day Pancake Breakfast next Sunday, November 6, in the Lower Parish Hall, after the 7:30, 9:00, and 10:30am Masses. Thank you, Youth Group, for hosting this event. Just a reminder that Daylight Savings Time 2016 ends next weekend in the wee hours of Saturday/Sunday, November 5/6. So turn your clocks and watches BACK one hour next Saturday night. Word has it that Father Terry has cooked up something special! See you Monday evening! This Tuesday is November 1, the Solemnity of All Saints, and a holyday of obligation. For your convenience, we will have a special holyday Mass schedule: Monday, October 31, All Saints Day Vigil Masses: 4:00pm and 7:00pm Tuesday, November 1 All Saints Day Holyday Masses: 7:00am 8:30am and 4:00pm 7:00pm Wednesday, November 2, is All Souls Day, a special time to commemorate the dead. Masses are scheduled at 7:00am 8:30am 7:00pm (The 7:00pm Mass will offer a remembrance of all the deceased from this parish since All Souls Day 2015) The Parma Catholic parishes will again offer a Thanksgiving Day Meal on Thursday, November 24, at St John Bosco Church, Parma Heights, in the Bell Tower Hall. This is a traditional turkey dinner with all the trimmings! Those who might otherwise be alone on that day, or those who are in need of a Thanksgiving Day meal, are most welcome. The COMMEMORATION of ALL the FAITHFUL DEPARTED ALL SOULS DAY The Book of the Names of the Dead will be displayed near the Holy Family shrine throughout the month of November. You are invited to inscribe within the book names of any and all deceased loved ones. All Souls Day is Wednesday, November 2. As in years past, we will provide a distinctive opportunity for relatives and friends to gather and remember those whose funeral celebrations took place at St. Charles Parish within the past year. EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT I, Brian Bowne, am an Eagle Scout candidate from Troop 221 currently working on my Eagle Scout project. The project is the Polish Village Pocket Park, which will be located just down the street on Ridge Road. The finished park will include flagpoles, two garden areas, and a brick walkway. To accomplish this, I am looking for donations. By donating, you can get an engraved brick in the brick walkway, similar to the St. Joseph's shrine here at St. Charles.
