This Sunday, March 29, is a Fifth Sunday of the month. As has been our parish custom for many years, there will be a second collection at Mass this weekend for the St Vincent de Paul Society of St Charles Borromeo Parish. Visit us on-line at This is Palm Sunday, the gateway to Holy Week. I encourage your participation in the various special liturgies offered this week. Echoing Fr Woost s words from our Lenten Retreat: Holy Week is not about history (just remembering the events of the past). Holy Week is about mystery as we come into contact, sacramentally, with the events of our salvation. The saving actions of Jesus are made manifest for us to grow in His grace. The Youth Group will offer Dramatized Stations of the Cross on Palm Sunday at 6:30 pm and again on Good Friday at 12Noon. We will hear confessions on Spy Wednesday, April 1: 11am 12Noon, 3 4pm, and 7:30 8:30pm. This Wednesday at 9:00pm, we offer the ancient service of Tenebrae: song, Scripture, and the dramatic extinguishing of the candles, leaving the church in darkness. On Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday each day at 8:30am--join us in church for the celebration of Morning Prayer. On Holy Thursday at 7:30pm we will celebrate the Mass of the Lord s Supper. After Mass, the Blessed Sacrament will be reposed in the Upper Parish Hall, until midnight, for personal prayer and devotion. On Good Friday, we offer the Celebration of the Lord s Passion at 3:00pm: Scripture, Veneration of the Cross, and Holy Communion. The traditional Blessing of Easter Foods will be Holy Saturday at 11:00am On Holy Saturday only one Mass is permitted and that is the Easter Vigil Service that will begin at 8:30pm. This includes the Blessing of the New Fire, Scripture, Baptism and Reception of Converts, and Holy Communion. Participation at this Mass does satisfy the Sunday obligation to attend Mass. Masses on Easter Sunday (with the Renewal of Baptismal Vows) are scheduled for: 7:30am Father John Carlin 9:00am Father Terry Grachanin 10:30am (Church) Father Ryan Mann 10:30am (Hall) Father Anselm OSB 12:00Noon Father Edward Janoch There is no late afternoon/evening Mass at St Charles on Easter Sunday. By popular demand, we will offer a PTU Lenten Fish Fry on Good Friday, April 3, from 4:00 until 7:00pm in the Corrigan Gym. A full menu will be offered. That will be the final Fish Fry for I know that Easter is a time for special generosity to the parish. Again, I set no goals nor do I request any certain amount. I will ask you to be generous and I promise that whatever choose you do for St Charles your gift will be much appreciated and will be put to good use. You will find in this bulletin a Parish Activities Calendar for the month of April.. Please clip-and-keep that calendar as a handy reminder of what s happening at St Charles during the next four weeks.
