1 St. Rose of Lima Church 312 Ridgedale Avenue East Hanover, New Jersey Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time July Our best wishes go out to Fr. Michal who has been appointed to St. Catherine of Bologna in Ringwood as parochial vicar. Though I miss Fr. Michal terribly, I know he is well prepared to serve the people of Ringwood. Fr. Michal is a wonderful priest and will always remain in our hearts. I know he will be back to visit from time to time. In his name I thank you for the love and support you have so generously given him. As I mentioned last week, Fr. Andrew is helping temporarily in St. Anthony s in Hawthorne. I look forward to seeing him before he starts his road trip at the end of this month. During the month of August he will be celebrating Masses for his family in Ohio and Florida. He will return to Rome September 20 th for further studies for one year. In his name I thank you for the love and support you have so generously given him. I have enjoyed mentoring Deacon Kamil this past month and helping him. He is a wonderful young man and I know everyone here liked him. I was more than surprised to receive a call from Bishop Serratelli stating that he transferred him to Our Lady of Mercy in Whippany. We wish Deacon Kamil the best toward his journey to priesthood. We re all enjoying having Alex home for the summer. He was particularly helpful during the weekend of the first Masses. This weekend he is visiting a friend from seminary in the Boston Archdiocese. Through the grace of God we hope that he will be ordained a deacon in September 2018 and a priest Memorial Day Weekend Congratulations to Joe Zecchino who received the Msgr. Michael J. Fitzpatrick Award for outstanding scholarship in the studying of the Catholic faith. Joey is an alumnus of St. Rose of Lima Academy and Oratory Prep. He is an altar server, an Extraordinary Minister and a member of the Antioch Team. I m very proud of him. I m thrilled by the beautiful sign located by the entrance to the church donated by the Knights of Columbus. The sign is donated in loving memory of Tony Giuliano and the deceased members of the Knights of Columbus. Our prayers and sympathies go out to Angelina Sweeney upon the death of her beloved husband John. Also, to Ann Brennan upon the death of her beloved husband Des, a past Grand Knight here at St. Rose. I love to look out of my office window and see the happy faces and hear the joyful voices of our summer camp children. They are learning in a Christ centered environment having fun and enjoying the summer while mom and dad work hard. Miss Lorie and her staff are doing a great job with the children. We re also accepting registrations for September and we ll provide more information in the weeks to come. Enjoy this beautiful month of July and try to take a little time to relax with family and friends. Fr. Owen

SUMMER MUSIC CAMP We would like to invite the children of the parish going into 3rd up to 6th grade to join us for a short music camp, August from 9am to 12noon. We have ordered the books for all registered children and are compiling the class lists. Families will receive their class assignments and program calendars by during the week of August 7. Classes will begin September 17 and September 24. If you have not registered, the registration form is available on the parish website. Please submit the form with full payment to the parish office. Our program needs catechists and aides for grade three and grade five. If interested please contact Bernadette or Gina. Amen. Italy Pilgrimage 2018 Information Session You are invited to join us for an information session about our next pilgrimage to Italy, on July 31st at 8pm in Messina Hall. We will provide you with information about the pilgrimage, enjoy fellowship and answer any questions you might have. Fr. EAST HANOVER TOWNSHIP - The East Hanover Knights of Columbus Council #6504 recently dedicated a Memorial to Anthony Giuliano, pictured on the Memorial, as well as all Deceased Members of the Council. Offering a Blessing at the dedication is Father Owen Moran, the Pastor of Saint Rose of Lima Church; outside of the church the Memorial is on display. Others in attendance, left to right are Carol Giuliano, Antony's wife; Deacon Vincent Leo; James Giuliano, Anthony's son; Altar Servers and Father Owen. The Memorial was designed and produced by Mario Accumanno, also an East Hanover Knight. Catholic High School Entrance Exam Prep Class This program services boys and girls entering the 8th grade this fall. It provides as intensive review of math, reading and language skills, instruction in quantitative and verbal reason, practice with all sections of the examination and training in the appropriate test taking strategies. Summer classes offered in August at Mary Help of Christians Academy and Immaculate Heart Academy. Weekend fall classes will be held at St. John s Academy, Hillsdale. Parents are welcome to have the Baptism celebrated either at a week-end Mass or at the Liturgy of Baptism at 1:15. To make arrangements for Baptism please call Father Owen or Fr. Matthew. Godparents must be confirmed and be active members of the church and attend Mass regularly. Sacrament of Reconciliation July and August at 4:45 5:15PM (or by appointment with Fr. Owen or Fr. Matthew). Sacrament of Marriage Please contact Fr. Owen or Fr. Matthew and set up an appointment. Any Catholic couple needs approximately a year to prepare for the Sacrament of Marriage, which includes sessions with the Priest celebrating the marriage and attendance at Pre-Cana conferences. Sacrament of the Sick / Hospital Visits At St. Rose we are strongly committed to the spiritual care of the sick. Because of privacy laws, hospitals and nursing homes are not allowed to release the patient s religious affiliation. Therefore, we must depend on families of our sick parishioners to inform us of their whereabouts and condition. Please notify the parish office of any need for a home or hospital visit. RCIA The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a program for people who seek full initiation in the Catholic Church through the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation, which are received at Easter Vigil.
