Donations of new and used furniture, appliances and household goods are greatly appreciated. Even if you have nothing to donate, come by and help load the truck. As we gather around the Eucharistic table this weekend, we find ourselves celebrating several joyful events. We celebrate the Fifth Sunday of Easter, Centennial of Fatima, and the Marian Month. As we continue to celebrate the Marian month, I would invite you to join our parishioners praying the rosary daily here in the parish. The rosary is prayed and led by our parishioners after the 6:30 am Mass (Monday Friday) and before the 8:00 am Mass each day. I also invite you to join our parishioners praying the Novena of the Miraculous Medal after the Saturday 8:00 am Mass. As Pope Francis prepares to celebrate the Centennial of Fatima on May 13 th, Cardinal Jose Saraiva Martins shares the following insights of Pope Francis on Fatima: It is a call to faith, a call to conversion, and to peace and hope. These four calls constitute the core message of Fatima, a message that unfortunately today people have forgotten. The pope goes to Fatima to remind today's men and women of those four calls that we should never forget; if we want to live in peace, we have to live as men, to live as brothers. Let us join together and pray: O Mary, our hope and our joy, help us to pray with you for peace in the world. Unite all children with your Immaculate Heart. Make us strong in praying for those who have no one to pray for them. Keep us always close to the Sacred Heart of your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen. Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us! During this month of May, we offer our congratulations and blessings to our First Communicants! On May 13 th our students from our Religious Education program and St. Joseph School (SJS) celebrated their First Holy Communion. On May 20 th our students from our Spanish Religious Education program will celebrate their First Holy Communion. We are blessed to have these children joining with us at the Eucharistic Table. Let us continue to pray for each child as they continue their faith journey. I would like to thank the parents, the Religious Education staff, catechists, SJS staff and faculty, and all those who prepared these children for this Sacrament. Your witness and example inspires these children and enriches their faith journey. Throughout this Marian month we reflect upon the role which Mary plays in salvation history. Her yes to God s invitation forever changed the course of history. Mary offers us three essential pathways for living our faith: Mary shows us how to listen; Mary shows us how God s word must be shared with others; and Mary shows us how to live in God s word. As faithful Catholics we observe Mary s month through many different devotions and traditions. Please join us in one or several of these devotions and traditions. In the peace of Francis of Assisi,

A Message from the Pastoral Team We wanted to share the following information and assignments with you that came from our Minister Provincial. The friars assigned to Saint Joseph Church are: Father Thomas Bourque, TOR Pastor Father Alberto Bueno, TOR Parochial Vicar Father James Puglis, TOR Parochial Vicar Father Patrick Whittle, TOR Weekend Ministry Father Jonathan will be returning to St. Bonaventure Friary in Loretto, PA on May 22, We have been blessed to have Father Jonathan ministering with us at the parish for the past year. He returns to his ministry as the Director of Novices for our Province. There will be three young men invested as novices at the end of this month. Father Jonathan, may God continue to bless you in your ministry as a formation director and your ministry to the Church and Province. Father Pat will now reside at St. Louis Friary in Washington, DC as he continues to pursue a doctorate in liturgy at The Catholic University of America. Father Pat has been asked to be the Vicar of the Friary and assist Father Benedict, the Local Minister of St. Louis Friary. He will continue to assist us with celebrating weekend Masses here at the parish. Brother James, one of our transitional deacons has been assigned as the parochial vicar here at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Brother James will be ordained on June 10, He will begin his full-time ministry here at the parish on July 3, Let us welcome Father James and offer him our prayers as he begins his priestly ministry. June 10, 2017 Ordination Our Franciscan Deacons, Brother James and Brother Jason will be ordained to the Priesthood on Saturday June 10, 2017 in Loretto, Pa. The parish is providing a bus for parishioners who are interested in attending. A free will offering is asked to help defray the cost of the bus. The number of seats is limited. Brother Jason, one of our transitional deacons has been assigned as a parochial vicar at Good Shepherd Catholic Community in Colleyville, TX. The parish is staffed by the Franciscan Friars, TOR, for Bishop Michael F. Olson of the Diocese of Fort Worth. Brother Jason will be ordained on June 10, 2017 and begin his ministry after his ordination. We wish Brother Jason many blessings as he begins his priestly ministry at Good Shepherd Catholic Community. We would ask you to remember the parish community in your prayers as we continue to embrace the Gospel of Joy and the works of mercy. Many blessings! We are very excited to announce that we have planned yet another Vacation Bible School (VBS) here at St. Joseph Catholic Church! This year's theme will be "Maker Fun Factory: Created by God Built for a Purpose." It will run from Monday, June 26th through Friday, June 30th from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. Last year we had over 80 young people participate; this year we are aiming for 100! Last year s VBS was a great success and we had a fun loving team. This year we are offering you the opportunity to join us for yet another exciting VBS year. At VBS we will make memories with singing and dancing, playing games and learning about the Bible and our Catholic Faith, not to mention making crafts and enjoying delicious snacks!
