3 From the Desk of Father Ed: Dear Parishioners, Today we celebrate the Fourth Sunday of Easter known as Good Shepherd Sunday. This weekend in our Gospel from St. John, Jesus says, I am the gate. Jesus was referring to the entrance of the sheepfold where the sheep enter in and find safety. It is through following Jesus by hearing and recognizing His voice, that is through His Church and her sacraments that He leads us to safety and a sharing in His life both here and now and in the life to come. Congratulations to our children in our religious education program that received the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Please keep them in your prayers. During the Sundays of May they will be wearing their First Holy Communion dresses and suits. May 13, 2017 is the 100th Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima. Our Bishop has asked that every parish in the diocese recite a prayer of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary at all the weekend Masses on May 13th & 14th. On the 100th anniversary the Bishop will consecrate the Paterson Diocese to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Our Blessed Mother has asked us her children to pray the Rosary every day for peace in our world, and to receive Holy Communion and go to Confession on the Five First Saturdays in reparation for the sins and offenses committed against her Immaculate Heart. Come and join us for Mass and the rosary on Saturday at 8:00 am. A special thanks to one of our parish families for donating our new and beautiful Pilgrim Statue of Our Lady of Fatima. We have two important events coming up in May. Dulibber will be ordained a Transitional Deacon on Saturday, May 13th, at St. Peter The Apostle Church in Parsippany at 10:30 am, and we will have a party for him after the 5:00 pm Mass. The Bishop will be here at our parish for the Diocesan Crowning of Mary on Sunday, May 14th, Mother s Day at 3:00 pm. Please make an effort to be present for our Bishop who has given our parish the privilege of hosting this day to honor our Blessed Mother. Our Lady Queen of Peace, pray for us, Father Ed, Pastor 100th Anniversary of Our Lady Of Fatima May 13th (13th Of Every Month) 8:00 AM Mass Please join us to celebrate the 100th Year Anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima on the 13th of the Month starting May 13th through October 13th. First Friday Mass: 8:00 am Adoration: 8:30 am to 8:00 pm Following are the promises that our Lord made to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque for all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Friday of nine consecutive months: "I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life. I will establish peace in their homes. I will comfort them in all their afflictions. I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death. I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings. Sinners will find in my Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy. Lukewarm souls shall become fervent. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection. I will bless every place in which an image of my Heart is exposed and honored. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in my Heart. I promise you in the excessive mercy of my Heart that my all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in my disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment."

Cindy Costello Gifts Into Flame Ministry The 100th Anniversary Of The Fatima Apparitions On May 13, 1917, in a mountainous region at the center of Portugal, the three children Lucia Dos Santos, Francisco Marto and his sister Jacinta, who were ten, nine and seven years old respectively at the time, took their flocks out to pasture in the small area known as the Cova da Iria. After lunch and the rosary they suddenly saw a bright flash of something like lightning, followed quickly by another flash in the clear blue sky. They looked up to see, in Lucia s words, a lady, clothed in white, brighter than the sun, radiating a light more clear and intense than a crystal cup filled with sparkling water lit by burning sunlight. The children stood there amazed, bathed in the light that surrounded the apparition as the Lady smiled and said: Do not be afraid, I will not harm you. Lucia, as the oldest, asked her where she came from. The Lady pointed to the sky and said: I come from heaven. Lucia then asked her what she wanted. I have come to ask you to come here for six months on the 13th day of the month at this same hour. Later I shall say who I am and what I desire. And I shall return here yet a seventh time. Lucia then asked if they would go to heaven and was told yes, she and Jacinta would go to heaven, but Francisco would need to say many rosaries first. The Lady then said: Are you willing to offer yourselves to God and bear all the sufferings He wills to send you as an act of reparation for the conversion of sinners? Lucia, as spokesman for all three, readily agreed. Then you are going to have much to suffer, but the grace of God will be your comfort. Lucia recounted that at the same moment as she said these words the Lady opened her hands and streamed a light on the children which allowed them to see themselves in God. The Lady finished with a request: Say the Rosary every day to bring peace to the world and the end of the war. With that she began to rise into the air, moving towards the east until she disappeared. The children got together and tried to think of ways they could make sacrifices as the Lady had asked, resolving to go without lunch and to pray the full rosary. Francisco and Jacinta received more support from their parents than Lucia, but the attitudes of the local inhabitants ranged from skepticism to utter contempt, and the children thereby suffered many insults. They would have much to suffer, just as the Lady had told them.
