All Children are welcome to participate. Practices will be held every Sunday after the 9:30 Am Mass. Gifts received from the giving tree will be donated to needy families of Sussex County and for our seniors in need and be distributed by Project Self Sufficiency. 3 From the Desk of Father Ed: Dear Parishioners, Christmas is only a month away! The Church gives us the Season of Advent to help us to prepare for the second coming of Jesus and to reflect and celebrate His first coming at Christmas. This weekend is the last Sunday in Ordinary Time, which is also the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Next weekend begins the First Sunday of Advent; the liturgical color changes to violet, the singing of the Gloria is omitted, and the first candle on the Advent Wreath is lit. As the liturgical year comes to an end we are reminded of the end time when Jesus will come as our King in all His glory. The Gospel presented to us this weekend is towards the end of Matthew s Gospel. It is the scene at the end of the world where Jesus comes in His glory with all the angels and is seated upon His glorious throne. All the nations are brought before Him and He separates the good from the evil. The good go off to eternal life while the evil to eternal damnation. The good are saved by their works of charity; they cared for the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, those who lacked proper clothing, and those in prison. Those who were selfish and did not care for their neighbor in need are sent off to eternal punishment. This weekend the Church celebrates the Kingship of Jesus: He alone is our King. He is the only one that can save us and He has given us share in His Kingdom, that is, if we want it. We have free will and God will not interfere with it and so we can choose between heaven and hell. Heaven is ours is we want it and Hell is ours if we choose it. The way we live our lives here and now on this earth determines where we will spend our eternity. We need charity or love to enter the kingdom of Heaven. We need to love our God and our neighbor. As we draw near to the Season of Advent and the coming of Christmas let us pray for the grace to prepare for this special time so that we can always be charitable towards our neighbor and grow deeper in love with Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. 4 PILGRIMAGE TO LOURDES AND FATIMA - First Fridays Devotion APRIL 24-MAY 2, 2018 Come and join us for the First Fridays Devotion. Mass will be celebrated at 8:00 AM and Adoration of the Blessed Father Ed Rama will be the spiritual director during Sacrament will take place all day until a pilgrimage to include Lourdes and Fatima. Mass will be 8:00 PM. Grades 1-10 Saturday, December 2nd 9:30 am in The Church There will be no religious education classes that day. The Holy Mass is at 9:30 am in the Church; at the conclusion of Mass there will be Christmas Caroling, led by our music director, Margaret Moeckel. Light refreshments will be offered in the Parish Hall. We look forward to celebrating with you and your children. All are welcome! Sacraments of the Church: Baptism: Infant Baptisms (Private & Communal) are celebrated on Saturdays at 11:30 AM & Sundays at 12:30 PM. An instruction class on Baptism will be provided in advance. Please call in advance to make an appointment and to ensure that the Church s requirements especially for Godparents are satisfied. Eucharist: If you are seriously ill or homebound and would like to receive Holy Communion please contact Father Ed. Adult Confirmation: Please call the office and ask about our religious education program for adults. Reconciliation: The Sacrament of Reconciliation is available Saturday 3:45pm-4:45pm, after weekday Masses 8:30am, during Adoration Monday evening 7:30pm-8:30pm and Friday morning 8:30am-9:30am, and anytime by appointment. Anointing of the Sick: Anyone who wishes to receive this healing sacrament, the Anointing of the Sick, should contact Father Ed. Marriage: Couples contemplating marriage are asked to call the office for an appointment to discuss the Marriage Preparation Program. Arrangements should normally be made one year in advance and before any wedding dates are finalized.
