Call the parish office to schedule. Sacrament of Confirmation Preparation for Confirmation is held within the Religious Education Program. The sacrament is usually conferred in the spring of each year. Sacrament of Marriage Arrangements are made by the couple with the parish priest at least six months before the wedding. Religious Education Transfiguration Parish offers religious education for K-8 grades in public schools. Classes are held on Sundays from 11:15 AM 12:45 PM Ministry to the Sick /Homebound Do you know a parishioner who is unable to get to church anymore but would still like to receive Holy Communion? Call Judi Damon at to make arrangements. Fr. Jim will anoint anyone with a serious illness, or who has upcoming surgery or tests see him after any of the Masses for a special anointing. Prayer Shawls You may request a prayer shawl for yourself or someone you know. Request forms at the entrance of the Church or call the parish office. 3 Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church Ladies of Charity News Our next regular meeting will be Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at 7:00 PM in the church meeting room. The September Ladies of Charity Monthly Collection amounted to $709. Your generosity enables us to assist those in need, especially during the cold months that are quickly approaching! SEPTEMBER PRAYER INTENTION For the month of September, we pray for all of our members traveling to the National Assembly, that their travels are safe and that they may re-ignite their Vincentian spirt. Social Ministry Happenings Novena to St. Michael Please join us for the St. Michael the Archangel Novena, every Sunday at 11: 15 AM (through September 27th, with a Special Mass at 7:00 PM on September 29th) to pray for an end to drug use and the drug business that destroys so many lives and families. There is power in prayer help us to free the people trapped in the devil s snare! Parish Social Our parish monthly social begins this weekend, September 19 & 20. Please stop in the church meeting room after all Masses and join us for refreshments. Save the Date October 3 Blessing of the Prayer Garden, in front of the Rectory House, on Saturday, October 3, after the 4:00 PM Mass. Save the Date October 4 Blessing of the Pets, after CCD Classes in the church parking lot, from 12:45 1:45 PM Save the Date October 4 Flu shots will be provided on Sunday, October 4th. We will also have a new pneumonia shot, Prevnar13 available and Free Blood Pressure screenings. Please bring your insurance card with you on the 4th. Save the Date October 10 Rosary Rally (National Event), Saturday, October 10 at Noon. Weather permitting, we will meet outside by the statue of the Blessed Virgin. Chairs will be provided for those who cannot stand. Please join us as we invoke our Blessed Mother s intercession. Save the Date October 11 We will be participating in the 40 Days for Life (praying for an end to abortion in front of the Planned Parenthood office on Liberty Avenue) this Fall on Sunday, October 11 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Please prayerfully consider joining us to stop the slaughter of innocent babies and the harvesting of their body parts to sell for a profit. Watch for sign up sheets in the back of church. For Your Information Page Three How to Plan a Funeral Mass A special invitation to attend a free workshop How to Plan a Funeral Mass, This workshop will be conducted by the Funeral Ministry of Transfiguration Parish, on Wednesday, September 23rd in the Church Meeting Room from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The class is designed to provide information in planning the Catholic funeral for a loved one as well as your own. If you would like to attend, please contact Bill Burdett at to ensure we have sufficient materials for attendees. New Evangelization for the New Millennium Conference II Monroeville Convention Center on Saturday, October 10, 2015; from 1:00 PM 4:30 PM. Fr. Scott Seethaler and Bishop Sam Jacobs, are among the well known Catholic speakers. Cost: $10. Advocacy Program The West Deer Township Parks and Recreation Board and the Allegheny Kiski Health Foundation will be hosting a program to enlighten the public on what you need to know prior to being admitted to a hospital. You re cordially invited to come and meet with community nurses who will discuss: How to become a better health care advocate for you and your family: Learn how to navigate through the health care maze ; Gain a better understanding of what healthcare providers say; Where you can go to seek help; Blood pressure screening; Information and pamphlets on common diseases; Individual confidential counseling on medicines; diseases, health care concerns, etc. The program is scheduled for September 21, 2015 at 6:00 PM in the West Deer Township Municipal Building, 109 East Union Road. Life Chain is a peaceful and prayerful witness of pro-life individuals standing for 60 minutes praying for our nation and for an end to abortion. Bring water, lawn chairs, strollers, etc. We will meet at Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament s church parking lot in Natrona Heights. For more information, call Transfiguration Choir The Transfiguration Traditional Choir will start weekly practices beginning October to prepare for the upcoming holiday season. Attention Seniors - Senior Expo Oct. 9 State Representative, Eli Evankovich, is pleased to announce that his Fifth Annual Senior Citizens Expo will be held on Friday, October 9, from 9:00 AM to NOON, at the Veterans of Foreign Wards Post 92, 1601 Wildlife Lodge Road in Lower Burrell. Baptism Preparation Program A Baptism Preparation Program for parents and Godparents will be held at St. Victor s Parish on Saturday, October 10, from 10 AM to 11:30 AM, under the Church.
