Call the parish office to schedule. Sacrament of Confirmation Preparation for Confirmation is held within the Religious Education Program. The sacrament is usually conferred in the spring of each year. Sacrament of Marriage Arrangements are made by the couple with the parish priest at least six months before the wedding. Religious Education Transfiguration Parish offers religious education for K-8 grades in public schools. Classes are held on Sundays from 11:00 AM 12:30 PM Ministry to the Sick /Homebound Do you know a parishioner who is unable to get to church anymore but would still like to receive Holy Communion? Call Judi Damon at to make arrangements. Fr. Jim will anoint anyone with a serious illness, or who has upcoming surgery or tests see him after any of the Masses for a special anointing. Prayer Shawls You may request a prayer shawl for yourself or someone you know. Request forms at the entrance of the Church or call the parish office. Rosary Prayer Group Meets Tuesday Saturday Mornings at 7:30 AM before the 8:00 AM Mass. Parish Membership New parishioners always welcome! CCD News CCD Teachers Needed I am need of a CCD teacher for the upcoming CCD school year. Prayerfully consider volunteering for an hour and a half a week to teach the Catholic faith, and to bring Jesus into the lives of children. Call and leave a message. The reward is immeasurable! Transfiguration's Tutoring Program was a big success, and we would like to continue this program in the Fall. We are in need of additional tutors. Any teacher (currently teaching or retired), or education major interested in volunteering one or two hours a week to work with students of all ages, or any adult with an area of specialization, please contact me at and leave your name and number. I will return your call. The program will not begin until October, but we need to be prepared. Children are our future and you can make a difference! One or two hours a week is all that is needed. MaryEtta Filotei Blessings of the Backpacks Transfiguration will have it's Second Annual "Blessing of the Backpacks" on Sunday, August 30, at the 10:00 AM Mass. All students from preschool - college, and all teachers getting ready to go back to the classroom, bring your backpacks, book bags, brief cases, anything you use to take your belongings back and forth to school. There will be a special blessing on these items to prepare you for the school year. Get on the right track for a successful year!

AUGUST PRAYER INTENTION For the month of August we pray for teachers and students as they start a new school year; praying that teachers inspire students and that students appreciate their teachers wisdom and knowledge. Social Ministry Happenings Prayer Group Next meeting, Thursday, September 17 at 7:00 PM in the church. If you need a ride, call Judi at Lawn Crosses Show your faith by displaying a lawn cross at your home or cemetery. If you would like to have a cross, there is a supply in front of the meeting room. Suggested donation is $5. Novena to St. Michael Please join us for the St. Michael the Archangel Novena, every Sunday (through September 27th) at 11:15 AM to pray for an end to drug use and the drug business that destroys so many lives and families. Then, on Tuesday evening, September 29 at 7:00 PM, there will be a Special Mass for the spiritual deliverance of drug dealers, drug users and former users, from the snares of the devil. There is power in prayer, help us to free the people trapped in the devil s snare! Summer Discussion Sacrament Classes Wednesday evening catechism classes on the sacraments have been postponed until further notice. Brnardic Corporation A special thank you to Candy & Bronco Brnardic, Joe Brnardic and their crew for their hard work and construction improvements on the CCD School Building. It has greatly improved the outside appearance! Parish Feast Day Picnic Thanks Thank you to everyone who donated food, money, or helped in any way to make our Feast Day celebration a good time for everyone, especially to our Chefs, who once again, did an excellent job of grilling our burgers and dogs-they were delicious! Thanks to the choir for such beautiful music to praise and worship our God. Thank you to Fr. Charlie and St. Victor s for the use of their tent, tables and chairs. Most importantly, we thank the Lord for another beautiful day to celebrate His Transfiguration, the only thing that could have made the day any better would be if Fr. Jim was able to be with us. Gift Card donations and/or monetary donations are always a welcome contribution along with Sport ticket donations tickets to a Steeler or Pirate Game to raffle off! There are donation envelopes on the back table for your convenience and a blue bin outside the meeting room (underneath table) for collection of your donations. We are only a few weeks away from the Annual Car Cruise on September 13th. We have had many requests to have the baskets for the raffle ready before the weekend of the Car Cruise. This way, parishioners who can t make this wonderful event, can get a chance to win a basket!! In order to do this, we need the donations of baskets or items to go into the baskets by Sunday, August 23rd. Suggested items to donate and ideas are available on a flyer located outside meeting room. Thank you in advance for your generosity. A Special Invitation A special invitation to attend a free workshop conducted by the Funeral Ministry of Transfiguration Parish. This workshop is designed to provide information in planning the Catholic funeral for a loved one as well as your own.
