During the Season of Lent we strive to understand the seven deadly wounds and how they can lead us to the seven deadly sins.

The seven sacraments and the wounds they heal are: Baptism heals rejection, Eucharist heals abandonment, Confirmation heals powerlessness, Holy Orders heals confusion, Matrimony heals fear,

2 EASTER SUNDAY OF THE RESURRECTION OF THE LORD APRIL 1, 2018 Christus resurrexit! Vere resurrexit! Christ is risen, He is risen indeed! This traditional Easter Greeting in Latin is a reminder that today we truly celebrate the Resurrection of the Lord. During the Season of Lent we strive to understand the seven deadly wounds and how they can lead us to the seven deadly sins. We are now starting a new homily Series during the Easter Season on how the seven sacraments are a remedy to the seven deadly wounds. The seven sacraments and the wounds they heal are: Baptism heals rejection, Eucharist heals abandonment, Confirmation heals powerlessness, Holy Orders heals confusion, Matrimony heals fear, Confession heals shame, Anointing of the Sick heals hopelessness. This concept is explained in more depth in the book Be Transformed by Dr. Bob Schuchts. This week we are reflecting on the sacrament of Baptism and how it heals the deadly wound of rejection. Baptism is the sacrament where we are washed clean of our original sins and adopted into God s family as a Beloved One. When someone experiences the deadly wound of rejection they begin to feel that they are not loved, not wanted, and have no value. Baptism helps to heal those lies because in Baptism God tells each of us that we are loved, wanted and have value. Baptism is the sacrament of acceptance since God calls each of us a Beloved or Accepted One in Baptism. When we feel rejected we can use the sacramental of Holy Water. Every sacramental is meant to remind us of a sacrament. We use Holy Water to remind us of Baptism, and a powerful prayer is to sprinkle ourselves with Holy Water as we ask God to wash away the feeling of being unloved, not wanted, or have no value. We have different Gospel accounts that are proclaimed depending on the Mass we attend. The common theme in these Gospels is how various people are looking for Jesus but he is no longer in the tomb. At first Jesus s followers felt rejected because they thought Jesus was not there. In every account there is an encounter either with Jesus or an angel where the person having the encounter feels accepted. They experience a transformation of their rejection into an acceptance of new life. God washes away their feelings of rejection and helps them to feel accepted as a Beloved One. ************************************************************ We have broken ground on our new building, the St. Dymphna Center! Jesus help us to experience Baptism as the remedy to our feelings of rejection, Fr. Charlie Fourth Degree Exemplification was held March 10th, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul. The Pastoral Council is a six (6) member advisory leadership team who by consensus works with the Pastor to give council and advise on the pastoral needs and issues of the parish. We also participate as lay leaders who work closely with parish ministry leadership in implementing our evangelization plan. We have two vacancies which need to be filled to replace outgoing members Steve Fournier and Patrick Manning. The membership term is a 3-year term. One weekend of discipleship and fun; to gather together and seek God individually, and corporately as a community of youth! Students come together to play, worship, learn from a dynamic speaker, grow, and strengthen friendships in the Dripping Springs Community. Students will be divided into small groups based on church, age, and gender for housing purposes only. 6 DOMINGO DE PASCUA: LA RESURRECCIÓN DEL SEÑOR 1 DE ABRIL DE 2018 Este domingo es el Domingo de Pascua y una palabra que usamos es Aleluya. Aleluya es una expresión originalmente del hebreo que solía ser cantada en la liturgia cristiana sólo el Domingo de Resurrección, luego a lo largo del tiempo pascual y finalmente a lo largo del año como hoy en día. Pero, se omite a lo largo de la Cuaresma y la Semana Santa hasta la Vigilia Pascual, según ordenó el Papa S. Gregorio (Papado de ). Según la Enciclopedia Católica, es una especie de aclamación y una forma de ovación que los simples gramáticos no pueden explicar satisfactoriamente, motivo por el cual los traductores del Antiguo Testamento lo han dejado sin traducir. Aparece en el Nuevo Testamento sólo en el Apocalipsis como alabanza de Dios en el Cielo. Hoy celebramos la aceptación que Dios tiene para cado uno de nosotros. El sacramento que signifique aceptación es Bautismo. Como todos sabemos, los hombres nacemos con el pecado original que cometieron nuestros primeros padres, Adán y Eva. Como Dios nos ama mucho y sabía que mientras estuviésemos en pecado, no podríamos vivir en amistad con Él, nos envió a su Hijo Jesucristo, quien se hizo hombre como nosotros para salvarnos y hacer posible la vida de amor con Dios. Para ello Cristo, murió en la cruz y resucitó. De esa manera venció al pecado e hizo posible que nosotros podamos morir al pecado y nacer de nuevo a la vida de Dios. Todo ello, gracias al Bautismo. Todos nacemos separados de Dios, es decir, muertos a la vida de Dios por el pecado original y nacemos a la vida de Dios, a la vida espiritual, al recibir el Bautismo. El Bautismo, como todos los otros sacramentos fue instituido por Cristo. Él le dio el mandato a los apóstoles de ir y bautizar a todas las creaturas. Por el Bautismo, Dios nos da el DON, el regalo, de ser hijos de Él, dándonos su mismo Espíritu, para que habite en nosotros. A partir de ese momento Dios Padre, Dios Hijo y Dios Espíritu Santo, la Santísima Trinidad, habitarán en el bautizado. La materia que se utiliza en el Bautismo es el agua natural. La forma son las palabras que dice el ministro: Yo te bautizo en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo, las cuales deben pronunciarse al mismo tiempo que corre el agua. El ministro es el sacerdote o diacono. En caso de necesidad, es decir, cuando un niño o un adulto se encuentra en peligro de muerte y no es posible que el sacerdote esté presente, lo puede administrar cualquier persona, siempre y cuando tenga la intención de hacerlo y use la materia y la forma correspondiente. Y hay que notificar a la parroquia para que quede registrado y, en caso de que viva, para que pueda recibir la ceremonia del Bautismo solemne.
