This year-round process always welcomes new participants: those who are unbaptized; those baptized Catholic, but uncatechized, never having celebrated First Communion and Con irmation; and those baptized in another Christian tradition. Fully initiated Catholics are always needed to serve as sponsors for those interested in becoming Catholic. For more information, please contact the parish of ice at or of ice@stmartindp.org. (John 1:39) Sacrament of Reconciliation Friday 11:30 am 12:00 pm Saturday 4:00 4:45 pm Tuesday 6:00 7:30 pm - or by appointment Sacrament of Baptism Parishioners who wish to have their children baptized at St. Martin s must attend the baptism preparation class. Children of non-parishioners may be baptized here, provided that there is a family connection with a registered parishioner of St. Martin s. Nonparishioners must bring a letter from their pastor, giving permission for the Priest or one of the Deacons to baptize their child. Parents must also show proof that they have attended baptismal classes either at their parish or at St. Martin s. At least one godparent/sponsor must be a fullyinitiated practicing Catholic. Sacrament of Marriage Contact the parish of ice at least six months prior to the anticipated wedding date. No wedding date can be set until the couple meets with one of the deacons. Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick Those who are seriously ill; elderly individuals who are weakened; those facing or recovering from surgery; children who are sick; or pregnant women may participate in the Sacrament celebrated following any Mass. Please let the Priest know, or by appointment.

The Catholic Church has a three year cycle of Sunday readings so we are about to finish Cycle B and go to Cycle C.

2 This weekend we celebrate the 33rd Sunday of Ordinary Time and are getting ready for the end of the Liturgical year. The Catholic Church's Liturgical Calendar begins with the 1st Sunday of Advent and ends with Christ the King. Next weekend is Christ the King so we are almost at the end of the year. The Catholic Church has a three year cycle of Sunday readings so we are about to finish Cycle B and go to Cycle C. We have a two year cycle of Daily Readings and are about to go from Year I to Year II. These cycles allow us to hear the majority of the bible within three years. This weekend's first reading calls to mind the end of the Liturgical Year since the prophet Daniel is speaking about "Many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake; some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace" which refers to the end of the world or as Christians would say the Second Coming. Every year as we draw to the end of the Liturgical Year the readings we hear reflect what is called apocalyptic readings or end of the world readings. Jesus in today's Gospel encourages us to remember that we will not know when the end will come we should always be prepared so that we will not be caught unprepared for the end of the world. The Early Church thought the world could end at any moment so they lived in a state of constant preparation. It can be easy for us today to become complacent by thinking the end of the world is a long time off. However, scripture is clear that none of us know when the world will end. Our time in this world ends when we die and so we should always be prepared for our death. We keep vigilant not by worrying about the end but by trying to live out the best lives that we can everyday in using the gifts God has given us. As we faithfully live out this commandment to love through sharing our gifts then we never need to fear the end of the world. **************************************************************************************** Our Thanksgiving Mass will be Wednesday, Nov. 25th at 7 PM and I hope all can join us as we give thanks to God for blessings received. While we would like to accommodate those who would like to request a blanket for a family member or friend outside of the parish, we wish to focus, at this stage of the ministry, solely on parish members. Those who are home-bound or in nursing homes will be our first priority. How may I request a prayer blanket?
