CANCER AND HIV/AIDS MASS Every Saturday at 4:00PM the Mass intention is for people with Cancer and HIV/AIDS and their caregivers. The novena prayer to Saint Peregrine, patron of those afflicted with Cancer and HIV/ AIDS, is prayed during the Mass. Also, a general blessing with the relic of Saint Peregrine is done after the novena prayer. The opportunity for veneration of the relic takes place after the Mass. ALL ARE WELCOME! 073 2

3 FOURTH SUNDAY OF EASTER Acts 4: John 3:1-2 John 10:11-18 During the Easter season, we look at how Jesus Resurrection continues to affect people s lives. In the first reading from Acts, Peter heals a cripple in the manner and power of Jesus. In John s Gospel Jesus describes himself as a good shepherd. He knows his sheep by name; he knows their habits and traits. His sheep know him. His love for them is so great that he freely lays down his life for them. People who know each other in the deep way described in this passage share their thoughts, feelings and will. They become one heart and one mind. Each has no life without the other. Jesus and his Father know each other in that way. Now Jesus tells his followers that they too have a share in this depth and intimacy. Veneration of the St. Peregrine relic will be available after Mass and also, all those who are in need of receiving the Sacrament of the Sick are invited to sit in the front section of pews located on the left of the Blessed Mother s Altar. The Sacrament of the Sick will be celebrated after Mass. Any St. Peregrine envelopes should be put into the collection basket. I hope that many will participate in this tribute to St. Peregrine! 4 SAINT BARTHOLOMEW 100TH ANNIVERSARY YEARBOOK We are asking our parishioners (present as well as former) and friends to please lend us photos that you have of events that took place at Saint Bartholomew s Church and/ or School. They could be pictures of Sacramental celebrations, May Processions, Graduations, school class pictures, and posed and/ or candid shots with priests, sisters, lay teachers, etc. Also any funny stories you have. We ask you to please place the photos and stories you would like to share with us in a large envelope or bag, and fill out the following form and place it in the envelope or bag along with the photos. It would be very helpful if you could identify who is in each photo and when it was taken (at least month and year). We promise to treat your photos with extreme care, and to return your photos as quickly as possible after we use them. 5 100TH ANNIVERSARY NEWS UPDATES I am pleased to announce that the work has begun in preparing for the 100th anniversary celebration of St. Bartholomew in The anniversary leadership council consists of Gerri Owens and Keith Monteiro as co-chair leaders with Deacon Gerry McPhillips and Marge Bean as members. The council will be asking for people to serve on three special sub-councils: Anniversary Book, Events and Publicity. The next Council Meeting is on Monday, May 14th at 7:00PM. As of April 16th, for the 100th Anniversary Church project, we have 36 persons who have made donations totaling $24, We are almost $76, short of our goal of $100, to get our Church up-to date like St. Martha s Hall!
