This ten-week Bible study gives participants practical tools for budgeting, managing debt, and increasing savings and sharing, while teaching God s perspective on managing money and possessions. Workshops start the second week of March in English and Spanish, we will meet once a week (day of the week to be determined by demand) for 10 consecutive weeks here in the parish. The groups are limited to 10 participants and registration is required. To register or for questions about the course, please call Teresita Obermann at or Helen Lopez at families provided meals for the Camillus House in the month of January. 5 February 14, 2018 Pope Proclaims February 23 Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace In particular for the populations of the Democratic Republic of Congo and of South Sudan. Pope Francis on February 4, 2018, announced a special Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace to be held February 23, The Holy Father s announcement came after the Angelus, prayed in St. Peter s Square with a crowd estimated at 20,000. In the face of the tragic protraction of situations of conflict in different parts of the world, I invite all the faithful to a special Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace next February 23, Friday of the First Week of Lent. We will offer it in particular for the populations of the Democratic Republic of Congo and of South Sudan. As on other similar occasions, I also invite non-catholic and non-christian brothers and sisters to associate themselves to this initiative in the way they consider most opportune, but all together. Our heavenly Father always listens to His children who cry to Him in sorrow and anguish, who heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). I make a heartfelt appeal so that we also listen to this cry and, each one of us in his/her own conscience before God, ask ourselves: What can I do for peace? We certainly can pray, but not only: each one can say concretely no to violence in as much as it depends on him or her. Because the victories obtained with violence are false victories while working for peace does everyone good! 8 We are excited to celebrate the Parish 65th Anniversary with the Greatest Show On Earth at our Blessed Trinity Annual Gala to be held on Saturday, March 17th, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the DoubleTree Hilton Airport Convention Center. We encourage you to participate in this initiative by: Purchasing two adult dinner tickets at a cost of $ each This year we have moved to an online platform for ticket sales, event sponsorships and raffle ticket donations. You may still submit payment using cash or check by simply selecting that option when you check out and submitting your payment along with a copy of your ticket to the School office. EVENT SITE: ADULT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR MIDDLE SCHOOL YOUTH GROUP When Fr. Alfaro got to the parish almost 5 years ago, our parish was able to start a Middle School Youth Group the following spring. This youth group has gone strong for the last 4 years averaging 15 to 20 young people every Wednesday evening. However, Father Alfaro is now in need of adult volunteers to keep the youth group going. He can't do it without your assistance. Pray to the Holy Spirit and ask the Lord if he is calling you to assist in such an important task for our young people. The RCIA programs is inviting all former RCIA candidates to a day of reflection on Sunday, February 25th beginning after 10:30 mass from 11:30 3:00 pm. Don t Give up Chocolates OUT-OF-THE_BOX LENT IDEAS 1. Take 10 to 15 minutes daily for prayer. 2. Find one sin in your life and fast from it. 3. Go to daily Mass at least once during the week. 4. Attend the Stations of the Cross or pray it as a family at home every Friday. 5. Pick a Gospel and read from beginning to end. 6. Give up a particular TV show. 7. Give up an unhealthy habit such as smoking or drinking. 8. Limit the time you surf the web. 9. Give up fast food & donate the money you save to the poor. 10.
