By celebrating the sacrament with those who are ill, or facing surgery or hospitalization, or feeling the effects of advancing years, we can join our prayer with theirs.

3 The Sixth Sunday of Easter ANOINTING OF THE SICK AT MASS This weekend, Saturday, May 5th and Sunday, May 6th after all Masses, we will celebrate the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick. Usually this sacrament is celebrated with a person who is suffering a significant shift in health. It often occurs in a hospital, nursing home or personal residence. Many will remember this as last rites although the Church sees the sacrament in a broader context and encourages it to be celebrated in the context of a loving community of faith. How often has someone asked you to pray for them as they face a personal medical crisis and you willingly agree to join their prayer. By celebrating the sacrament with those who are ill, or facing surgery or hospitalization, or feeling the effects of advancing years, we can join our prayer with theirs. The Little Sisters of the Poor will be with us after all the Masses on May 12th & 13th collecting to enable them to continue the work of their foundress, St. Jeanne Jugan, in caring for the elderly poor at their home on Benton Avenue in Pittsburgh. They are counting on your continued support. Please be generous. PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS God our Father, we thank you for calling men and women to serve in your Son s Kingdom as priests, deacons, religious, and consecrated persons. There is no way for us to know when our own parishioners are in assisted living or nursing homes, or in the hospital, unless a family member calls to notify us. If you or a loved one is homebound, a resident in a nursing home or assisted living facility, or hospitalized, please call the Parish Office. Someone from the family must also call the Office to give their permission to have a family member s name placed on the Bulletin Prayer List.
