CHURCH DECORATIONS REQUEST Please don t take our poinsettias. We ask that all poinsettias, wreaths and arrangements remain in the Church and surrounding areas. We would like to enjoy them for a while in January. RCIA SESSIONS RCIA sessions have begun. Deacon Don has met with Christian Heasley, who received the Rite of Acceptance on December 15. If anyone is interested in joining the Catholic Church or helping in the process, contact Deacon Don at dgibboney@diocesesj.org. STICKY ROLL SALE Helping Haiti Committee will be selling sticky rolls following all es next weekend!! (January 5/6). CHURCH UNDECORATING The Knights of Columbus invite parishioners to assist them in removing decorations from the Church on Sunday, January 6 immediately following the 10:15 a.m.. ROSARY SCHEDULE The Tuesday evening Rosary Group will stop further December meetings. Rosary will resume on Tuesday, January 8! Over 180 families were given a basket with all the ingredients to make a Turkey Dinner plus fresh dairy, fruits and gifts for the children. An event like this could only happen with the help of many people working together. We appreciate everyone that contributed a frozen turkey, canned goods, cash, or their time in this effort of love. The Giving Tree in the Gathering Space was very successful and much appreciated with filling most of the gifts required. This year we had the most contributions of all the ingredients. Thanks to our Faith Formation students and other youth in helping with the heavy lifting and distribution last Saturday. All this work was done with love of the poor and following in Jesus footsteps. Thank you again for your Christmas generosity. MARCH FOR LIFE INFO The March For Life will take place on Friday, January 18, This year Huntingdon will not have a bus, but there is a bus leaving from Hollidaysburg. You may contact Tom Foor ( ) regarding information on the Hollidaysburg bus. The MHT Cookie Sale has made it possible to help with the cost of the bus trip. You may contact Mike Kissell regarding this help. Mike will also be leading a car caravan to the March for Life. If interested please contact him ( ) for more information. The food item for the Huntingdon Area Food Bank for the month of December is any non perishable food item. Families and the Gospel Luke 2:41-52 Today s gospel contains this truth about parenting: but his parents did not know. One of the reasons parenting is so difficult is because our children don t tell us everything. If the Holy Family had trouble with their teenager, why do we think it will be easier for us? Stewardship Reflections The birth of our savior has caused us to become members of one family the Family of God. May our love and actions toward all humanity place us in our Father s house. Spiritual Resolutions Rest and be refreshed by reflections of the past year. Let a little water be brought, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree. (Gen. 18:4) The end of an exercise routine usually involves refreshing our bodies with water and rest. Just as Abraham invited his heavenly guests to rest their bodies a while, so, too, do we need to listen to God s invitation to take a spiritual Sabbath and rest our spirits before we start on the next phase of our spiritual journey. Celebrate the birth of Christ this year as a renewal and refreshment for the human race. Let yourself be at peace. Shalom.
