THE COLLECTION FOR THE CHURCH IN CENTRAL AND EASTERN EUROPE, LATIN AMERICA AND AFRICA Generous gifts made to today s Collection will fund evangelization, formation and catechesis projects for the Churches in the above countries. As young people from around the world prepare to make pilgrimages to Brazil for World Youth Day, the young faithful of Brazil face the hardships of poverty and violence and a lack of priests and trained lay leaders to help them live faith. The support you give today will provide opportunities for years to come. Please support these Churches and be generous in today s Collection. THE MONTHLY ST. FRANCIS SOUP KITCHEN COLLECTION amounted to $3,932 in cash donations and 33 in food items. Thank you for your generous support of this important apostolate. FROM THE DESK OF THE PARISH MANAGER End-of-Year Statement for 2012 Contributions All Good Shepherd parishioners who made contributions in 2012 will receive an end-of-theyear tax letter in late January. There is no need to contact the Parish Office for an end-of-the-year tax letter. The letter will automatically be mailed to you. As a reminder, the Diocese of Harrisburg will provide tax statements for 2012 Lenten Appeal contributions. CONTINUING THE VISION BUILDING UPDATE The roof is up! The Parish Office expansion continues to be moving along smoothly. With the roof planks now in place, weather is not as much of a factor in potentially delaying the project. The contractors have started framing the interior, hanging drywall and roughing in electric and plumbing. The canopy above the chapel narthex entrance will be installed the week of Monday, January 21, through Friday, January 25. That week, all daily Masses will be held in the Church with access available through the Parish Hall/Good Shepherd statue entrance at the back of the church. This will be the only door open for daily Masses the week of January 21 through January 24. (Mass will be celebrated at the School on Friday, January 25, at 8:30 a.m.) Parish Office/Chapel traffic the week of January 21 will be directed to the main narthex of the Church under the carport. There will be cones and signage directing traffic. Thank you in advance for your patience while we continue with the construction project. Nursing Home Mass Assistance Volunteers are needed to assist with monthly Masses at 2 local Nursing Homes Golden Living (Erford Rd.) and Camp Hill Manor Care (Market Street). This ministry includes setting up for Mass and sitting with the residents during the Mass. Masses are celebrated once a month at each facility on Mondays at 2:00 p.m. Time commitment - 1 1/2 hours. This corporate work of Mercy is appreciated by the residents and their families. Assistance with praying the Rosary is also needed. Anyone interested should contact the Parish Office. PLEASE NOTE: Good Shepherd CCW will not be meeting in January. Watch the bulletin for more information. Parish Office Hours: On Friday, January 18, the Parish Office will close at 1:00 p.m.
