MEMORIAL CANDLES - You can arrange to have a candle burn continuously for one year in memory of a family member or friend. A brass plate will be affixed to the shelf directly below the candle bearing the name of the person or persons memorialized. To arrange for a Memorial Candle, please call or stop in the Parish Office. FAITH FORMATION Religion classes for children in Grades 1 through 8 attending public school are held on Sunday mornings following the 9:15AM Family Mass. Diocesan guidelines require two years of preparation for First Holy Communion. Children 6 years of age or older who have not been baptized must receive two years of instruction before receiving the sacrament of Baptism. In all cases, parents/guardians must make an appointment to speak with Sr. Patricia Anglin at the Office of Faith Formation RCIA - If you are an adult, 18 years or older and interested in completing your Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion) now is the time to register. 5 SUMMER SENIORS are meeting this summer on Tuesdays, 1:00-4:00PM, in the newly renovated Rectory Basement. Please enter through the church doors and use the elevator or stairs. TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME All aboard for a beautiful evening on the Bay! Come join us on our Evening Cruise on the Bay. aboard the Captain Lou VII which leaves out of Freeport on Friday, August 25th, at 7:00PM. We have the ship to ourselves and we will be entertained by our own DJ. The $40 price includes beer, wine, soda and water along with wraps, salads and other goodies. The ship has an enclosed dining area and an upstairs dancing area with covered roof. Please arrive by 6:30PM, as the ship will leave promptly at 7:00PM. You must be 21 or older and show ID when boarding.. Make sure you bring a light jacket or sweater since we will be cruising on the bay until 11:00PM. Tickets are on sale at the Parish Office until Tuesday evening. This trip is hosted by the Family Life Committee. Come join us, all are welcome! Parking for the Cruise - There is limited free parking across the street from Captain Lou s and there is also a large municipal parking lot (on Front Street and S. Ocean Ave.) before your last left turn onto Front Street (see the directions on the back of your ticket). It is a very short walk from this lot to the ship. ANNUAL FIELD RESTORATION SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT IS BACK!! Tournament will begin in September. Cost is $350 per team. Dinner will consist of cheese and crackers for appetizers, a variety of sandwiches, potato salad, macaroni salad and coleslaw, with coffee, fruit and cookies for dessert. Beverages will include soda, beer, wine and water. The cost is $20 per person, cash only, and can be dropped off at the Parish Office by Friday, September 1st. Come join us for a pleasant start to the Fall season. MUSIC MINISTRY - Our vibrant Music Ministry ensembles (Adult Choir, Chamber Singers, Folk Group, Friends in Christ Ensemble, School Choir) take a well-deserved summer hiatus. It seems an appropriate time to acknowledge them for all of their hard work and prayerful dedication throughout the year to this vital ministry. It is easy to forget how much their singing enhances our liturgical celebrations until they are not present during the summer months. We look forward to their return in the Fall. Consider joining one of the ensembles! BOOK CLUB will take the take the month of August off and meet again on Monday, September 18th, at 7:00PM. TD BANK PARISH FUNDRAISER - If you are currently banking with TD Bank (checking, savings, money market, etc.), TD Bank will make an annual contribution to St. Gregory s. During your next visit to TD Bank, mention to a representative the Affinity Membership Program. Any existing account or newly open account will earn credit toward the fundraiser. There are no costs involved and everyone s privacy is guaranteed. So far this year, we have received $1,900. Thank you for your participating in this parish fundraiser! PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY - Prayer shawls are for those who are in need of comfort, to provide hope and healing to those who are most in need of a reminder of God s love for them. Prayer shawls and lap robes are available at no cost. The Ministry will meet on Monday, September 25th, at 1:00PM in the Office Basement. We have quite a number of glasses that were found in church.. COLLECTIONS - The collection for the week of August 13th amounted to $8,372 for the parish. Thank you for your generosity to the parish collection.

6 BIBLE STUDY at Holy Name of Mary Parish, located in Valley Stream. The Bible study will begin on Wednesday, September 6th, at 7:15PM in school cafeteria or Thursday, September 7th, at 9:45 AM in the Parish Outreach and journey for 11 weeks into the Gospel of Luke. ANNE S COUNCIL - KNIGHTS OF COLUM- BUS is having its ANNUAL PIG ROAST, CLAM BAKE & BBQ on Saturday, September 16th, 4:00-8:00PM. Its an afternoon of fun and culinary delights. PADRE PIO comes to the Archdiocese of New York St. Patrick s Cathedral.
