6 MISSIONS FEBRUARY GIVING BARREL The recipient of the Giving Barrel donations for February is Gifts of the Heart. The donations will be items for Gifts of the Heart hygiene kits that are sent to Disaster Areas. Kits will be assembled by Lakeside youth at the At The Table gathering on March 10th. Items needed: 1 hand towel 16 x 28 no fingertip or bath towels, 1 Nail clipper (updated nail clippers with metal files attached or with emery boards attached are acceptable), 1 washcloth, 1 wide tooth comb, 1 bar of soap, 10 Band-Aids, 1 toothbrush (in original package) KEEP IN TOUCH WITH PRESBYTERIAN MISSION WORKERS Visit PCUSA.org for more information on missions and all mission workers. CLASP Children of Ludlow After School Program. Interested in being a volunteer at Lakeside s Thursday afternoon with CLASP? If you would like to help, please contact Nancy Faulconer or Lynne Baker. MATTHEW 25 MINISTRES Lakeside will be participating in a volunteer morning at M25M on March 9th. For those unfamiliar with M25M they are an international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization helping more than 20 million people in need each year and they re located in Blue Ash. It s a great volunteer opportunity for families or individuals. Volunteers help in the sorting and repackaging of donated items. If you would like to participate please sign up on the M25M Clipboard in Fellowship. We work from 9-11 am. PRESBYTERIAN DISASTER ASSISTANCE PDA is ongoing throughout the year responding to recent disasters. Should you wish to contribute to the immediate need of disaster areas or to help support ongoing efforts, visit pda.pcusa.org or write a check to Lakeside and note on the check it is for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. LEARN AT LAKESIDE AT THE TABLE Join us monthly from 5:00-6:30 p.m. for dinner and intergenerational programming. March 10: Wilderness Wanderings As we journey into Lent, join us for prayer stations and opportunities to engage these unique forty days. Plus, we ll be glazing our pottery bowls as we prepare for Holy Week s Dinner with Disciples. POT-LUCK Dinner: Simple Soups for Lent, we ll keep things simple with soup and salad. For more information on each one, check out our Program Guide, available throughout the building and online. ADULT EDUCATION ENGAGE: GOSPEL Sundays, 9:45am. Mar 24-April 14 Through Lent, we ll reclaim and share our own stories as they relate to God s redemptive mission found in our Gospels. We are often afraid of telling our faith stories. Join this class as we explore ways of beginning to tap into our own biographies and journeys. No need to be a writer or consider yourself a good story-teller show up and let s see how the Spirit is moving in our individual and communal lives. Led by Louisa. WEEKLY PASTOR S BIBLE STUDY Tuesdays, noon Join Louisa for a weekly Bible Study looking at our lectionary texts for upcoming Sundays. **Cancelled February 26th and March 5th while Louisa is away.** LENT APPROACHES As we enter into the forty days that prepare us for Easter, we hope you will consider a number of opportunities: Ash Wednesday, March 6th. 7p.m. worship with imposition of ashes. Devotionals, available starting March 3 rd : The 40-day Lenten journey is an opportunity to imitate Christ and pattern our lives in the image of the One we follow. The Presbyterian Outlook devotions written by editor Jill Duffield will explore Jesus earthly ministry and seek to discern how we are called to emulate it. Adult Education Series, Engage: Mission described above will meet each Sunday through Lent. SENIOR HIGH MISSION TRIP TO PR Youth Meeting March 3 Join for dinner with Youth Group, then stick around as we dig into trip preparations. ANNUAL MEETING, TODAY, FEBRUARY 24 Session set the date for the Annual Meeting as today, Sunday, February 24th, in the sanctuary immediately following the 11:00 a.m. worship service. The Annual Meeting is a time to receive Annual Reports, vote on any changes to the terms of call for the pastors, and act on any recommendations from the Nominating Committee and to elect a new Nominating Committee ( ).
8 SAVE THE DATE! FRIDAY NIGHT, MARCH 15TH, 7:30 PM Mark your calendars now to attend an amazing concert by the Bowling Green State University Men's Chorus. Our sanctuary will come alive with the powerful voices of over 70 men! Lakeside has hosted touring college choirs over the years and it is always a wonderful event. A freewill offering will be collected to assist with their touring expenses. We also need volunteers to house the men overnight. This is a critical piece of the puzzle and a generous act of hospitality. If you are able to take 2 or 4 men into your home, please contact Stephanie Nash. CIRCLE THREE OUTING The ladies of Circle 3 invite you for a tour and catered lunch at the Wiedemann Hill Mansion in Newport, Kentucky on Monday, March 11th. We will meet in the church parking lot at 10:30 am carpool to the mansion. Tour and catered lunch is $28. / cash or check - and must be received by March 6th to Marilyn Maxwell. You can sign up today on the clipboard in Fellowship Hall or by calling Susan in the church office. FLOWER DONATIONS IN 2019 The new flower donation sign up chart is now available. WOMEN S BOOK CLUB Please join us for the next book club on Thursday, March 7th at 5:30pm in the library. We will be discussing The Other Einstein by Marie Benedict. Hope to see you there. 9 GIVE! CONTRIBUTING ONLINE OR WHEN AWAY Thank you for remembering to send your contribution even when you can t get to church. We receive offerings in the mail or through direct deposit giving. We also accept contributions online (or even on your phone) through EASY TITHE. Check out the GIVE page on our church website to learn how easy it is to use Easy Tithe to make your contributions to the church. Even if you re sitting in the pew on Sunday morning and didn t bring the offering you intended, you can use your phone to make the contribution any time during the service. PER CAPITA FOR 2019 The 2019 Per Capita is $35 per active church member. In the pews you ll find envelopes to make possible a direct donation to cover the per capita amount for your family. Thank you! CONTACTING THE DEACONS Do you need some extra prayer or know someone in our church who needs a phone call? Your Board of Deacons wants to help, but may not know of these needs. DEACONS ARE PROVIDING RIDES The deacons are also trying to identify people in the congregation who are willing to provide rides to those who can t drive themselves to worship.
