1 ST. MARY MYSTICAL ROSE GUIDING LIGHT We the faithful of St. Mary Mystical Rose Parish are a Catholic Community in the Archdiocese of Detroit. We serve God through His Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, with the empowerment and the strength of the Holy Spirit: to celebrate the Holy Sacraments and Worship, Christian Service and Faith Education, to evangelize and practice our faith in active stewardship--with the faith, spirit and humility of Mary, the Rose of God and our Patron Saint. The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ CATHOLIC SERVICES APPEAL Dear Parish Family! I pray you and your families are well and enjoying the fantastic weather we have. Hearing the birds singing reminds us of God s orchestra entertaining us with the beauty of nature and serene sound of heaven! As we begin this beautiful summer, the Lord calls us His disciples to the stewardship of our Catholic Services Appeal (CSA). The Catholic Services Appeal is an annual Campaign of our Archdiocese of Detroit. It is the call for each disciple of the Lord to share His Mission in and through the Church through sharing our treasures and blessings. The Lord needs you and me to assist in His Mission to make a difference in the ministries of His holy Church. Please, pray for your discernment on how you and your family contribute and pledge towards our CSA Campaign. We are the holy people of God called to be His Son, Jesus disciples. This holy calling is to sow the seed of God s love by helping to contribute towards funding various ministries in the Archdiocese and our parishes in Southeast Michigan. Your contribution is very much appreciated to our CSA Campaign. Working together in love and faith as members of God s holy body will greatly help to meet our CSA goal of $40, For this, we pray together with and for the intercession of our Mother, Mary, our Patron Saint, and through Jesus Christ our Lord. Please, be generous in your contribution toward our CSA goal. God bless! The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ! (CORPUS CHRISTI) Jesus took five loaves and two fish, blessed them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd, (Luke 9:11b-17). We have arrived at the celebration of this holy and solemn Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood (Corpus Christi) of our Lord. The Catechism of the Catholic Church calls this Eucharistic Feast the summit and source of our Christian faith. The Holy Gospel according to St. Luke states for us the prototype of the Eucharist. St. Paul in the second reading today recalled the solemn words of Jesus at the Last Supper. The Lord Jesus took bread, gave thanks, broke it and said, This is my body that is for you, do this in remembrance of me, in the same way, Jesus took the cup saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood, do this in remembrance of me, (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). The new covenant is Jesus Himself. The sacrifice of Jesus body and blood is His gift to us to be in communion and in a holy relationship with Him and for the salvation of you and I. Jesus is our Passover, the Lamb of God, who was sacrificed and crucified to save us from our sins. Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world: you and I. He confirms this covenant when He says, Amen, I say to you, I shall not drink again the fruit of the vine until the day when I drink it new in the kingdom of God. Jesus proved this saying on the day of His Ascension to heaven and Resurrection when He appeared to His disciples. Brothers and sisters, let us remember what our Lord had done for us on this Solemnity Feast, the Most Holy Body and Blood of our Lord. We are called to be disciples of the Lord. We are called to be in solidarity with Christians to sow the seed of love, healing, and hope. Let us pray for the conversion of those who do evil in the world, pray for the safety of refugees, freedom, healing, and love. The Holy Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus is our hope and our faith. This is the ultimate love of God for His Church and His holy people. Today, we are uniting and celebrating our life in Him. Therefore, let us forever be joyful, forever be grateful, and forever receive the Holy Sacrament of Holy Communion with our Lord every day. Therefore, in obedience and trust in God, let us respond together with His people, We will do everything that the Lord has told us All that the Lord has said, we will heed and do, (Exodus 24:3-8). Don t miss the blessings of the Lord to you and your family: praise and receive Jesus in the Eucharist. Amen Alleluia! (Continued on Page 5) PARISH MEMBERSHIP: We joyfully welcome new members to our parish. Please register at the parish office during business hours. We also ask that you let us know if you plan to move from the parish. INFANT BAPTISM: Parents must be registered and regularly attending the Sunday Eucharist to begin Baptism preparation.
