1 S T. M ARY M YSTICAL R OSE G UIDING L IGHT We the faithful of St. Mary Mystical Rose Parish are a Catholic Community in the Archdiocese of Detroit. We serve God through His Begotten Son, Jesus Christ, with the empowerment and the strength of the Holy Spirit: to celebrate the Holy Sacraments and Worship, Christian Service and Faith Education, to evangelize and practice our faith in active stewardship--with the faith, spirit and humility of Mary, the Rose of God and our Patron Saint. August 30, 2015 Twenty-Second in Ordinary Time This great nation is truly a wise and intelligent people, (Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 6-8). As parents and children are people preparing for the beginning of the second semester of the school year, shopping needs to be done and readiness to go back to school is required. Going down the lists of things that is needed, time frame of when to get back, lists of classes, when and where is all in order. That is it, order of things. Whether we work on the list of things to be done and accomplish, the need must be attend to first. Priorities need to be met. Today s readings point us to order of things. Moses said to the Israelites, to observe the statues and decrees of the Lord so that they may live. Observance is the eye catching word that means, conforming, keeping appropriate procedure, rite, rule or customary practice to follow. Rules and guidelines greatly helps to put all things in perspectives because people need to start with something and directions to follow. Adhere to and conforming to such procedure helps to guide, protect, direct, lead us to accomplish tasks and goals at hand. Why? The Second Letter of Saint James gives us the answer. All good giving and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with there is no alteration or shadow caused by change. Therefore, it is crucial for us to recognize and realize that all things come from God, and it is a great blessing! But most of all is to accept all the blessings with humility and let the Wisdom of God lives in us, because His living Word and the Holy Eucharist of His body and blood saves our souls. according to the purpose of God for you and your family. Let us together praise and glorify the Lord in the Liturgy of His divine love. Put our faith into practice with humility and acknowledge the Lord by trusting and depending on His life He has given us. Amen. CSACSA-Catholic Services Appeal Thank you for our parish members who have contributed to our CSA so far. Together we can achieve our goal of $41, Total Pledges as of 8/11/2015, is $28, Our contributing members are 139. We have 500 members. Let us work together to meet our goal. The saying goes, many charitable souls lift mountains upside down. Our love and ministry to share Christ in and through the Church is very appreciated! THANK YOUS! Thank you to all our families and friends who worked at our Food Booth at the Armada Fair. You are all appreciated and thank you for your help and assistance. God bless. VBSVBS-MT. EVEREST Missy and her Team did an extremely great job on our VBS last week. The children enjoys being on a mountain and experience God s marvels and splendid, and love for them. Great job! Have a wonderful week. Fr. George Patauave Be doers of the word and not hearer only, deluding yourselves, (James 1:17-18, 21b-22, 27). Brothers and sisters, we must put our faith into action. The RCIA consists of a series of 4 periods (see below) celebrated with a particular rite or service. Generally full reception into the Church takes place at the Easter Vigil with the celebration of Baptism, (or Profession of Faith for those already baptized), Confirmation and First Eucharist. WHAT IS THE RCIA PROCESS? Regular sessions provide instruction the teachings of Jesus Christ and His Church. The focus is on developing and/or deepening a personal relationship with Jesus Christ that gives praise to God and leads to loving service of others. It is a journey in faith and an opportunity to grow in mind and spirit. WHO SHOULD ATTEND? Individuals who have never been baptized and are seeking information about or entry into the Catholic Church (Catechumens.) Those who were baptized in another church and desire to join the Catholic Church. (Candidates) Catholics who were baptized but never received First Communion and Confirmation. (Also called Candidates) THE 4 PERIODS OF THE RCIA: The RCIA process is divided into four formation periods: Precatechumenate: We share with the Inquirer a general overview of Catholic Church and her teachings and address any questions they may have. Sessions are held once weekly for 6 weeks. Cathechumenate: During this extended period of instruction the emphasis is on Scripture, community, our faith and worship in the Catholic tradition. Catechumens attend Liturgy and are dismissed after the homily for their catechetical session. Enlightenment: This shorter period is the immediate preparation for the Easter Sacraments and takes place during Lent. Formal instruction gives way to more focus on prayer and spiritual readiness. Mystagogia: This period, usually from Easter to Pentecost, is a time of reflection on the mysteries of membership in the Church. It is a time to work out their place in the community and find the action or activity which will deepen their experience of full membership. To register or learn more about this process call the parish office at: Join us as we pray the Rosary together, every at 8:00am Classes will begin on September 1 st and will be held on Tuesdays from 7-8:30 pm. We re on Facebook: St. Mary Mystical Rose August 30,
