2 Traveling Statue of The Pieta The Pieta is a beautiful statue of the Blessed Mother Mary holding Jesus in Death. The Statue will be visiting the following private homes during each week of Lent. Canal St., Plainville, at 7pm. Sr. Ruth is a co-founder of Center for Reflection, Education Action. The first session will discuss how we came into the mess we re in in our world, the second session will be understanding where we are now, and the final session on what we can do to help create a positive future for all. All 3 sessions will be held in room 106, which is in the back of the building. Refreshments will be available. A free will offering is suggested. For more information Fr. Blanchfield Scholarship Applications The 2019 Fr. John P. Blanchfield Memorial Scholarship Applications are available in the rack, located in the Church vestibule. The Scholarship is available to any girl or boy who will be attending College after High School. The Scholarship is offered to a young man or lady who is a member of St. Aloysius Church. Completed applications should be returned to the Church Office no later than April So Many Changes Over the past several weeks St. Aloysius Church has experienced a number of changes. Our world is constantly in a flux. It has become the norm of the 21 century. Recently, we ve had two new trustees and four new finance council members AND a new Deacon. At this time, we extend our deepest gratitude to Deacon Jim Arena for his eleven years of service to our parish. We cannot express our thank you enough. As a matter of fact, it seems so little. We wish you Our Lord s choicest blessings as you begin your new assignment at St. Francis Church in New Britain, with Fr. Michael Casey as Pastor. At the same time, we welcome Deacon Wayne Griffin to his home parish (he was raised in the faith here). We also extend a warm welcome to his wife, Delores. Deacon Wayne, we welcome you and wish you also God s choicest blessings for your important ministry here. St. Joseph Medal The Archdiocese of Hartford s St. Joseph Medal was established by Archbishop Daniel A. Cronin in the waning days of his Episcopacy in Hartford. St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of the Archdiocese of Hartford as Pope Gregory XVI erected the Diocese on March 19, Of course, March 19th is the Solemnity of St. Joseph. The medal is the highest honor of the Archdiocese of Hartford and is conferred upon one who has given much to his/her parish. The recipient must be 55 years of age or older and have belonged to the parish many years, while giving time and talent to the parish. No present employee of the parish can be nominated. The Pastor only chooses the recipient inpecctore, (Latin for: in or close to the chest. The best translation in English would be: holding the cards closely, in other words, telling no one until the Archbishop accepts the nominee.) I am happy to announce that Mrs. Ruth Romajas is the 2019 recipient of the St. Joseph Medal. Ruth has been secretary, Coordinator of Religious Education and bookkeeper for more than 25 years. In those positions she has offered countless extra hours, plus helping in other aspects of the parish. Conferral of the Medal will take place at the Cathedral of St. Joseph on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 3:00 p.m. without a Mass. It is only a ceremony. Everyone is invited to the Cathedral on that afternoon.

Please make or bring Irish soda bread, Irish Scones, Italian breads, canoli, zeppole, Polish Paczki and place them in the sanctuary for blessing. Finance Council Recently, we announced our new Trustees, Mrs. Elizabeth Martin and Mr. Robert Corjulo. In the bulletin it was announced that the Finance Council would have new members. We extend a heartfelt thanks to Larry and Jim Sima for giving many, many years to St. Aloysius Finance Council. It gives me great pleasure to introduce to all of you the new members of St. Aloysius Finance Council: Mrs. Denise Parsons, Mrs. Kathy Heath, Mr. Richard Toman and Mr. David Falvo. All have experience in finances. Again, the Finance Council is directed by the Canon Law of the Church. By that law, the Finance Council must meet four times a year. The pastor presents to the Diocese, when asked, the proof that the Council, in fact, has met four times each year. Finance Council members are appointed by the Pastor, serving at the discretion of the Pastor for the common good of the parish. Please pray for Larry and Jim Sima who served with distinction. Please pray for our new Council members who begin their service to the parish. Knights of Columbus Scholarship Announcement Knights of Columbus Isabella Council #15 and Isabella Assembly #122 will offer (4) Four $ scholarships to those seeking to further their education at a recognized institute of higher learning during the upcoming academic year. Applicant, parent, legal guardian must be a registered member of the parish. Applications are available at the church and must be returned by March 30, Baby Bottle Boom-a-rang Our annual Baby Bottle Boom-a-Rang for Carolyn s Place in Waterbury began March 3, We are entering our 12th year of sponsoring this program. Since 1992, Carolyn s Place has helped 1,528 babies, and have given out 7,052 personal items needed for children. Please place your donation inside the bottle There are collection boxes located in the entrances of the church. Any donation that you can make will be appreciated. Thank you. Knights of Columbus Rosary The Knights of Columbus of Southington will hold a Holy Hour here at St. Aloysius Church on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. The Blessed Sacrament will be exposed for Adoration. As Archbishop Blair requested, we come before the Blessed Sacrament to pray for healing in the Church, due to heinous scandals; to pray for vocations to the priesthood, religious life and deaconate and to pray for the successes of the 2020 Synod in the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Legionaries of Christ will lead a solemn Rosary. Every parish in Southington is invited to participate through the graciousness of the Knights of Columbus. Due to inclement weather last week the Family Rosary Service was postponed until this Sunday. You are most welcome to join us. Did you know?
