2 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Sunday, November 15th, rd Sunday in Ordinary Time "But of that day or hour, no one knows, neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." It may strike us as odd that there are things that the angels don't know. But it's even more surprising that Jesus--the Son of God--would have been unaware of the divine schedule for the end of the world. Given all of this, should it come as any surprise that there are things that God chooses not to reveal to us right now? In his wisdom, God knows when the timing is right to reveal his plans to us. The fact that we don't know everything helps us remember that we are not God. We are his creatures, dependent upon him for our existence, our sustenance, and for the hour of our death too. In this era of instant Internet information, advanced diagnostic medical tests, and statistical surveys predicting future trends, it's hard to accept the fact that there are some things we just can't know. But this reality should keep us humble, reminding us that we don't have to know everything because we are in the powerful hands of a loving God. Thus, any attempt to "see the future" through psychic mediums like palm reading, tarot cards, or astrology suggests a kind of distrust in God. As the catechism states, such practices "contradict the honor, respect, and loving fear that we owe to God alone" ( 2116). As much as we might want to know when the world will end, when our dreams will come true, or when our problems will cease, we are called to walk in faith, accepting what God chooses to reveal and trusting that even our moments of uncertainty are part of his benevolent plan for us. As today's psalm declares, "you will show me the path to life." What else do we really need to know? Merciful Family Student Contest How is my family merciful to others? This national student art, writing, music, video contest is open to youth grades 4-12 and is being sponsored by the Diocese of Kalamazoo and the Knights of Columbus. Entries may be submitted through February 15, The link will supply you with additional details including Contest criteria, cover sheet and bilingual flyer. national-student-contest. 7th Annual Catholics in the Public Square to Address Crisis in the Middle East: The Diocese of Manchester will host the 7th annual Catholics in the Public Square event on November 21 from 9:00 a.m. to Noon at the NH Institute of Politics at St.Anselm College to address the crisis in the Middle East. The keynote will be delivered by Dr. Thomas Farr, a leading authority on international religious freedom. Rev. Andrew Nelson will share why Catholics should be concerned about religious persecution in other areas of the world, and attendees will receive an update from Catholic Relief Services on efforts to work with refugees of religious persecution and what can be done to advocate for change. 5 St. Aloysius Parish Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe From December 3rd to December 12th our parish will join together to offer a parish-wide Novena to Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas. Each day at 7:00pm, with the exception of December 5th which will take place at 6:00pm, we will have a mass in Spanish with visiting priests from around our diocese who will be joining us as guest speakers to share their thoughts with us on special topics. One hour prior to each of these masses we recite together the prayer for our novena. The Novena culminates on Saturday December 12th at 6:00pm with a re-enactment of Mary's appearance to Saint Juan Diego, followed by Mass. If you haven't had a chance to participate in this beautiful devotion to Our Lady in the past few years, please consider joining us this year. A new project is underway to replace the very worn statues that have been part of our Nativity scene for decades! 6 33º Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario 14 de noviembre de er Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Como cada año, en el penúltimo domingo del tiempo ordinario, escuchamos un fragmento del discurso escatológico de Jesús. Este domingo es según Marcos. El género apocalíptico nos sorprende y muchas veces nos asusta, pues inmediatamente pensamos en el fin del mundo que tantos han predicho pero fallado, ya que este fin solo Dios lo sabe: "Nadie conoce el día ni la hora. Ni los ángeles del cielo ni el Hijo; solamente el Padre" (Mc 13, 32). Lo referente a las imágenes del sol, la luna y las estrellas nos llevan al anuncio del misterio de Jesucristo, quien le da un verdadero sentido a vivir con esperanza en el presente y el futuro. Cuál es tu opinión sobre esto? Qué piensas acerca de estas lecturas? Es recomendable dialogar sobre estas lecturas en familia y grupos parroquiales para así ayudar a clarificar tantas dudas y miedos sobre la destrucción del mundo. Jesús nos indica que nada es absoluto, ni siquiera la propia vida. Lo único cierto es que todos algún día, tarde o temprano, estaremos frente a lo que sí es absoluto y verdadero: Dios. Qué esperamos los cristianos de hoy? Cómo vemos a nuestra comunidad? Cuál es nuestra esperanza? Ojalá que todos estemos de acuerdo en el retorno glorioso de Cristo. Bien sabemos que no somos perfectos, pero tratamos de serlo: es por eso que acudimos cada domingo a la Eucaristía. Las lecturas nos indican que vamos caminando hacia el final de nuestra vida. Pidamos al Señor por la conversión de todos. A todos aquellos que todavía sufren en silencio debido a los abusos del pasado, humildemente les invito a venir a nosotros para que podamos ayudar en su proceso de curación. Spotlight - Obispo Libasci "Spotlight", es una película sobre la investigación del Boston Globe acerca del abuso sexual a menores en la Arquidiócesis de Boston en el año Ésta película se estranerá en los cines en noviembre. Para algunos, esta película será un doloroso recordatorio de los abusos que ellos mismos o alguien cercano a ellos experimentaron, y es probable que evoque emociones de tristeza y enojo en muchos de los que ven o escuchen al respecto. No faltes, te esperamos! Preparaciones para Navidad! Debido a que las estatuas que forman parte de la escena del nacimiento de Jesús se han estado usando por décadas, este año hemos iniciado el proyecto del su reemplazo. Estas estatuas son muy importantes y muy costosas, por lo que nos hemos propuesto la meta de comprar un par de estatuas por año solamente. Si a usted le gustaría hacer una donación para este proyecto, puede pasar a la oficina en donde tenemos el catálogo que incluye las imágenes de cada estatua. Rosarios en Honor a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Los rosarios en honor a la Virgen de Guadalupe ya comenzaron y continuan hasta el 12 de diciembre. El rezo de los rosarios se está llevando a cabo en la Capilla de San Stanislaus de 7pm a 8p.m., diariamente excepto los domingos. También les queremos informar que a partir del 3 al 12 de diciembre continuaremos rezando la novena aquí en la misma Iglesia antes de las 9 Misas programadas para estas festividades. Novena a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Del 3 al 12 de diciembre nuestra parroquia se unirá para ofrecer una Novena a nivel parroquial a Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, Patrona de las Américas. Cada día de la novena tendremos misa en español a las 7:00pm, con la excepción del 5 de diciembre que será a as 6:00pm, y contaremos con las visitas de diferentes sacerdotes de nuestra diócesis quienes se unirán con nosotros como oradores invitados a compartir sus ideas sobre temas especiales. Una hora antes de cada misa vamos a recitar juntos la oración de la novena. La Novena culminará el sábado 12 de diciembre con una representación de la aparición de María a San Juan Diego, seguida por la Misa. Si usted no ha tenido la oportunidad de participar en esta hermosa devoción a la Virgen en los últimos años, por favor considere unirse a nosotros este año.
