This makes sense because the word Lent comes from an old English word meaning, Spring. As we know, Spring time is a time for re-birth, new growth; a time when all of nature comes to life. Lenten Series for Ridley Area Catholic Churches The Ridley Area Catholic Churches (including OLP), will again host a weekly Lenten series entitled, Seven Last Words of Christ on six consecutive Tuesday evenings. This Tuesday evening March 5th at 7:00PM, St. Francis of Assisi Church in Springfield is the host parish and the talk is entitled, Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. All series will have Evening Prayer, Benediction and the talk will be conducted by a guest speaker. All series will be also be followed by a social. Drama Club Needs Your Help If you can yield a needle and thread, the OLP Drama Program needs your help! We will be making our Shrek Jr. costumes. If you can spare some time to lend your talent please contact Ruth Henderson We are also seeking props such as wigs, hats, bridesmaid/wedding dresses, children s dress up clothes, Halloween costumes, or anything that would be useful for the play. Please place them in the bins in each church the weekend of March 9th/10th. You may also contact Ruth or Jackie Basquill at to coordinate a pick up. Thank you! Lent is the Spring time of our spiritual lives. It is meant to foster within us, a re-birth in our commitment to Christ; a time we seek through Lenten practices principally, prayer, fasting and alms giving new growth in our friendship with Christ as members of his Holy People, The Church. This Lent OLP parish will offer Lenten opportunities to assist you to keep the season of Lent. We ll have Stations of the Cross on Friday evenings at 7:00PM, and we ll once again participate in the Ridley Area Catholic Churches Lenten Series; a program focused on the Seven Last Words of Christ. Keep a look in the Bulletin each week, to see what parish is hosting that week during Lent. Our Lady of Peace parish is hosting on April 2nd at 7:00PM. Sister Anne Amait, osf, will be speaking on the words, I Thirst. I m sure these Tuesday evening sessions will be enriching spiritual experiences. -Father Devlin Annual Communion Breakfast Mr. Jack Whelan, an OLP member. former Delaware County District Attorney, and current Common Pleas Judge will be our guest speaker at the parish s annual Communion Breakfast on Sunday March 10th in Nelson Hall, immediately following the 10:00 AM Mass.
