Flanagan PRAYER FOR PRIESTS Lord God, most holy, we approach you in gratitude for your holy ordained priesthood. You have called these men to be set apart and to shepherd your people, as you shepherd your entire church. We pray for them in their daily work. Grant to them an increase in spiritual gifts and grace, so they may be prepared for the tasks at hand. Lead them not into temptation and protect them from the grasp of the evil one. It is through the sacraments they confer that we encounter the divine in a real and profound way. May your church never lose sight of these, your special sons, and may we, the body of Christ, never fail to cherish the gift of their lives, which they have freely given to you and your holy church. We ask this in the name of Jesus, your Son. Amen. Christmas Bazaar Next Weekend The excitement is building for the Annual Christmas Bazaar which will be held next Friday evening, November 16th from 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM; and Saturday, November 17th, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The day begins with Breakfast with Santa beginning at 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM. Please plan on attending the Bazaar; our planning committee has been working hard planning what promises to be a great parish event. Board of Limited Jurisdiction We had our second and final training session for the formation of a Board of Limited Jurisdiction for Notre Dame School. This new governance model vests the Board Members with the authority to administer the School. I'm very excited to have a BLJ in place to assist Mrs. Pileggi, our wonderful school principal, and I, as leaders of the school. The BLJ will takeover the school finances, marketing, recruitment, and fundraising. As we all know, sustaining a parish school is becoming ever increasingly more difficult. Adopting this new governance model is really thinking outside the box, and I am hopeful it will be of great benefit to ND School. Some School Stats to Share Speaking of sustainability of the School. Did you know, it cost the parish $300,000+ each year to keep the school open? That means after collecting all the tuition, there's still a $300,000. bill that has to be paid. While there is 203 students enrolled in ND School, (from 3 year old - 8th graders), only 127 of those students are OLP parishioners. That means, the parish is spending $300,000. on 127 parishioners. 4 PARISH INFORMATION Anyone who wishes to register in the Parish is asked to please call the Parish Office Baptisms Baptisms will take place every Sunday at 12:30 PM in Our Lady of Peace Church. Parents will need to attend one pre- Jordan class before their first child s Baptism. Both Godparents must be 16 years of age and need a letter of good standing from his/her current Parish. SACREMENTAL CERTIFICATES/ ELIGIBILITY LETTERS : Please call the Parish Office to request a copy of any sacraments received or to request a letter of eligibility to serve as a sponsor. PRE-JORDAN CLASS: Pre Jordan Classes are held monthly on a Monday or Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM. Please call the Parish Office for more information. Marriages & Pre-Cana Please call the Parish Office at least six months before the desired date to schedule an appointment. Couples must attend a marriage prep program called Pre-Cana. We appreciate all of you! **Re-registration for the School Year has begun! You should have received information in your child s assessment folder this past week. If not, it is posted on Option C. There is a new procedure this year, so please read the letter carefully. Thanks very much! Wednesday, November 14 th : Bridge Night: Kindergarten and First Grade Students Welcome! See details in this bulletin on the Events page. Wednesday, November 21 st : Noon dismissal for all grades. Happy Thanksgiving! 6 PARISH GROUPS & MEETINGS Craft Meetings Will begin on Thurs., Sept. 6 th from 6-8 PM in the OLP Cafeteria. They will be held every Thursday until the Bazaar or unless otherwise noted. Check the weekly bulletin. Feel free to bring your own ideas. All are welcome to join! Feed the Poor Will meet on Sunday Afternoons at 12:30 PM in Our Lady of Peace Cafeteria. We are looking for volunteers to help make 150 PB &J sandwiches to feed the poor in Kensington, City of Philadelphia. Please contact Tom Dillon, cell phone: if you would like to join the Team! Donations of Skippy creamy peanut butter, and grape jelly welcome at the weekly gathering. Notre Dame Players Give back to God what he has given to you. Share your love of music with our Seniors, in nursing homes and Senior Groups throughout Delaware County. Join the Notre Dame Players, a great way to spend your free time and talent. OLP DRAMA PROGRAM OLP Drama Program is open to all OLP Parish children attending Notre Dame School or the PREP Program in grades K-8 interested in music and the performing arts. For those who receive a call back, it will be held on November 19 th from 5:30-7:30PM in OLP Gym. A $35 Fee is due at auditions.
