A family must be registered in the parish, attend the baptismal preparation class, and cooperate with the regulations established by the parish. THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION is celebrated on Saturday between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM in the Chapel or by appointment. THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION is celebrated once a year by the Bishop s delegate, here at St. Augustine. A candidate must successfully complete our Religious Education program. Weddings may be scheduled on Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday afternoon. Only a ceremony is permitted on Sunday. The pastor will confirm the date so couples should contact the Parish Center at least ONE YEAR in advance. All the necessary information will be sent to you. Faith in the power of the Resurrection gives way to a righteous and fruitful life eternal. Trusting in the Lord, and striving to live the beatitudes in our everyday lives, yields much fruit. In the first reading, trusting in the Lord brings a refreshing life of abundance. Saint Paul, in the second reading, says that Christ s resurrection brings life to all who believe. We have ordered 800, but they go fast! These wonderful little books will be a cherished companion throughout the Lenten season. It includes a fascinating seasonal fact and a brief Scripture reflection (6 minutes total) for each day from March 3rd to April 21st, Easter Sunday. What a wonderful way to prepare for and celebrate the Lenten season! We have used these books for years and everyone loves them. A $1.00 donation is required for each book to defray the cost.

5 FIRST HOLY COMMUNION OUTFITS If anyone has new or used (clean) First Holy Communion dresses, veils, dress socks, white gloves, white sweaters, boy s suits, and communion book sets to donate to those in need for the clients of the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry in Perth Amboy, as well as other needy children in the Catholic Community of Perth Amboy, please drop the items off at the Outreach Ministry office in the Parish Center before April 24th. Monetary donations toward the Communion outfits are also acceptable. As in the past, they particularly need dresses and boy s suits sizes 10 through 16. Time is flying by! I rarely sit still I am able to yawn, stretch, hiccup, swim, kick and even wiggle my fingers and my toes. All of my facial muscles are working and I can make some very funny faces. Fine hair called lanugo (a Latin word for wool) starts to develop as well as my eyebrows and lashes. My skin is so transparent you can see my blood vessels through it. From my crown to my bottom I measure about 4-5 inches and weigh about 3 oz. I could fit into the palm of your hand. I am a tiny beautiful miracle. I cannot thank you enough for of your prayers for me. May Our Lady of Guadalupe ask for a special blessing on you and your family for all you do for the innocent unborn and their families. Once registered, you will receive quarterly mailing of parish offertory envelopes. The use of an Offertory envelope helps us to track Mass attendance which affects your status as an active or inactive parishioner. Mass attendance, not the content of the offertory envelope, is reviewed twice a year and a letter is sent to those who have not used their envelopes in a specified time period. It is necessary to be an ACTIVE, REGISTERED member of the parish in order to obtain Sponsor Letters which are needed to act as Godparents for Baptism or Sponsors for Confirmation. Sponsor letters cannot be given to those considered inactive (or not registered). We also ask that anyone seeking to be married in our church or to baptize a child be registered in the parish. If you are moving out of the parish, please contact the office around the time of your move so we may change our records accordingly and avoid sending you envelopes you don t need. Children of the parish are invited to participate as dramatists or narrators. 6 A SIMPLE SURPRISE The Sisters of Christian Charity who have served others all their lives and now residing in the Motherhouse Infirmary in Mendham need your help. Beginning on February 9th, the Feast of Consecrated Life, you can show your appreciation for all the Sisters have given by giving them some of their favorite everyday and toiletry items that they have requested. Cards will be available by the statue of Blessed Pauline in the Church Gathering Area or the Chapel, starting February 9th with simple items that will make the Sisters very happy. 8 PARISH WOMEN S RETREAT Need a break from the world? Looking for some way to enhance your Lenten experience? Try the Parish Women s Retreat! An opportunity to take some time away from your daily routine and renew your spirit in tranquil surroundings. The annual Women s Retreat, held at Sacred Heart Spirituality Center, run by the Salesian Sisters in Newton, NJ, will be held on April 5, 6, 7. Fr. Timothy Christy, Vicar General of the Diocese of Metuchen will be the Retreat Master. The retreat is open to parish women; non-parishioner women are accommodated if space allows. February Finds Pre-K Loving to Learn and Learning to Love The school year is going so quickly. Only a few more months and our Pre-K children will take flight and go on to Kindergarten. They are ready too! RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM Re-registration forms were mailed on February 6th and are due back in the Religious Education Office no later than February 27th. The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is just for you! Gather with others who desire to know the Lord Jesus Christ in the truth of the Catholic Faith, as we undergo catechesis, reflect on the scriptures, and contemplate our call to faith in Christ in preparation for Baptism and/or reception and completion of the Sacraments of Initiation. Meetings are held on Sundays at 8:00 am in Father McGivney Hall (followed by 10:00 am Mass). If you are interested in getting connected, please call the Parish Center at Deacon Denis During the month of January the children worked on the letters Ll, Hh, Uu and Cc. In math the students learned on number sense shapes and worked on positional words. They were also learning vocabulary words at the same time. Words around the room help the students to recognize letters and words to become early readers. In enrichment we explored the winter season, hibernation and the arctic region. The children created lions, ladybugs, horses and hippos. They loved learning about and creating polar bears, penguins and other arctic animals and seeing how they live. The last week in January we celebrated Catholic Schools Week. During this month of February, the Pre-K is loving to learn more letter sounds. Yes, they are learning about estimation, graphing, sorting, and nonstandard measurement in Pre-K. They ll be prepared for March Math Madness Month. February is full of fun facts about our country and Presidents and Nutrition and Health. February finds the students growing and getting ready for the spring months ahead.
