There will be NO 9:00 am Mass and Eucharistic Adoration at 7:00 pm. After John had been arrested, Jesus came to Galilee proclaiming the gospel of God ````````````````````````````` Mark1:14 Do you ever think about how difficult it must have been for Jesus to come into Galilee, knowing that John had just been arrested for teaching the same message that Jesus was proclaiming? It must have taken great love and trust for Jesus to do what the Father had sent Him here on earth to do. In the same way, following a life of stewardship takes great love and trust from us. We must be willing to surrender completely to God, trusting that God will always give us all that we need to fulfill His plan for us. February 11th $21, MEDITATION FOR FEBRUARY 18th, 2018 The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe in the Gospel. These sound like simple words from our short Gospel today. But it is fitting that Jesus begins His earthly ministry with this powerful message after the Spirit descended upon Him at His baptism. He asks us to believe in the Gospel and embrace its message of humble service and discipleship. In the reading from Genesis, God establishes a covenant with Noah, declaring the rainbow as the reminder to all His people. In the second reading we hear that the eight who had been saved by the water in the story of Noah prefigure our baptism which saves us now. In Mark s Gospel, Jesus begins His Galilean ministry by proclaiming the need to repent and believe. SAVE THE DATE Bible Camp at St. Augustine of Canterbury has been scheduled for the week of July 9th through the 13th. Additional information of this event will appear in a later bulletin. OUR LADY OF FATIMA STATUE This week the Fatima statue will be in the home of Florence & Joe Shwereb. Please remember to also take the black bag which holds the crown with the statue. It is also the time of year when we pause to see where we ve been and where we should be going. It is the time to recommit ourselves to the Lord. During Lent, you will notice a basket with decorated index cards by the cross of St. Lucy starting on Ash Wednesday, February 14, Listed on each card is a suggestion of a necessary item to be purchased for an organization that helps those in need. These items will be collected before all the weekend Masses on February 24/25, March 3/4, and March 10/11. This is our way as a parish to reach out to others through almsgiving, one of the spiritual blessings of our Lenten journey. All donations need to be in by March 11th. Anything received after that date will be given to our Food Pantry. As St. Theresa of Avila said: We should not attach much value to what we have given God, since we shall receive for the little we have bestowed upon Him much more in this life and in the next. We Adore You O Christ and We Praise You, Because By Your Holy Cross You Have Redeemed the World A NEW PARISH DIRECTORY IS COMING MAKE SURE YOU RE IN IT! As we approach the 60th Anniversary of St. Augustine Parish, the parish is planning a Parish Directory and hope all our parishioners will be a part of it. A Parish Directory consists of portraits of our parishioners and ministries. It s a great way to get to know the names of faces of this wonderful parish community. No addresses or phone numbers are included in the Directory. Each participating family receives a free 8 x 10 portrait and free Directory. Family Portraits will be taken Tuesday, March 13 through Saturday, March 17 and Tuesday April 10 through Saturday April 14; weekdays from 2:30 8:45 and Saturdays 10 am 4 pm. You can sign up for your family photo shoot in the Church Gathering Area February 17/18, February 24/25 and March 3/4. You may also register on line to reserve your Family Photo session through the parish website: Portraits make a great gift too. Be part of the directory whether you re a family of 1 or a family of 10. Help celebrate our beautiful Parish Community! The finished Directory will be distributed in September 2018 as we celebrate 60 years of St. Augustine of Canterbury!
