Lanahan DATE: January 9, 2018 RE: February Stewardship Bulletin Reflections The attached information is provided as a way of presenting the message of Stewardship and is recommended for use for the four weekends in February Please review the Stewardship Prayer of the Faithful Petitions provided. These petitions are dated and provided to match the weekly scripture readings. We now provide Prayer of the Faithful Petitions for Teens and Young Adults. These weekly Stewardship Reflections & Prayer of the Faithful Petitions are available in Spanish. 2 Weekly Bulletin Announcements Please insert the appropriate weekly bulletin announcement for the four weekends of February: 4 th Sunday in Ordinary Time Stewards Not Jealous Love is patient, love is kind. It is not jealous, it is not pompous. (1 Corinthians 13:4) Do you get jealous? Do you focus more on the things that other people have than on the gifts that God has given to you? Are you pompous? Do you acquire more possessions to impress others? At times we are all guilty of these things. Pray for more Stewardship. Pray to become less self-centered and become more God-centered. 5 th Sunday in Ordinary Time Courageous Stewardship Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send? Who will go for us? Here I am, I said, send me! (ISAIAH 6:8) Every day, in little ways and in big ways, God asks, Whom shall I send? Whether it is someone to take on a new ministry, to give a friendly smile to a stranger or say a word of encouragement to a friend, God constantly provides opportunities to help someone in need. The next time you hear God calling, be a good Steward and have the courage to walk through the door and say Here I am, Lord. Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Times Stewardship Test Blessed are you when people hate you, exclude and insult you, and denounce your name on account of the Son of Man. (LUKE 6:22) All of us have been in situations when someone has made a negative comment or joke about God or our Catholic faith. How did you respond? Did you stay silent or pretend to go along with the crowd because you didn t want to cause waves and then, later, you felt bad? Know that God is with you all the time, the Holy Spirit will put the right words in your mouth. Pray for the strength and courage to live Stewardship and proclaim our faith to others, especially during uncomfortable situations.

3 Seventh Sunday in Ordinary Times Living Stewardship But rather, love your enemies and do good to them, and lend without expecting anything back. (LUKE 6:35) Easier said than done, right? But, if we are to imitate Christ, most of us need to practice mercy and compassion more frequently. Start with the little daily annoyances that we experience, the unkind word or hateful glance we receive. Instead of plotting revenge on that person, live in Stewardship by saying a quick prayer for that person. Mercy and compassion will put us on the path to holiness.

4 Weekly Prayer of the Faithful Petitions That we may live in Stewardship with more God-centered lives and live less self-centered lives. That we as Christian Stewards may eagerly respond, Here I am, Lord, whenever we hear God call upon us to be His hands, feet and voice here on earth. That we as Christian Stewards have the strength and courage to joyfully proclaim our faith, especially in uncomfortable situations. That we as Christian Stewards practice mercy and compassion more frequently and pray for those that annoy us.

5 TEENS and YOUNG ADULTS For a greater awareness of God s call in our lives, especially Teens and Young Adults: that we may listen and live out the mission to which God invites us. Let us pray to the Lord. For Teens and Young Adults who are lost and are searching for meaning in their lives. Let us pray to the Lord. For Teens and Young Adults struggling to find God s purpose in their life. Let us pray to the Lord. That Teens and Young Adults of our parish and the wider community may know God s presence in all they do. Let us pray to the Lord.
