WORLD MISSION SUNDAY OCTOBER 22, 2017 This special collection which benefits the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, the American Board for Catholic Missions and the Catholic New East Welfare Association, is scheduled for October 22, The stone that builders rejected has become the corner stone Matthew 21:42 Jesus was the cornerstone and He was rejected by the religious and political leaders of His day, as well as ordinary citizens. Living a stewardship lifestyle may cause you to be rejected by others in today s society. For example, saying grace before a meal in a restaurant may attract some strange looks from some. But to others it is a sign that God is alive and well! October 1st collection will be reported in next weeks bulletin. COUNTING TEAM # 9 October 15 Cornerston OUR LADY OF FATIMA STATUE This week the Fatima statue will be rededicated and be in the home of The Abi Atme Family. READINGS FOR THE WEEK Monday: Jon 1:1 2:2, 11; Jon 2:3-5, 8; Lk 10:25-37 Tuesday: Jon 3:1-10; Ps 130:1b-4ab, 7-8; Lk 10:38-42 Wednesday: Jon 4:1-11; Ps 86:3-6, 9-10; Lk 11:1-4 Thursday: Mal 3:13-20b; Ps 1:1-4, 6; Lk 11:5-13 Friday: Jl 1:13-15; 2:1-2; Ps 9:2-3, 6, 16, 8-9; Lk 11:15-26 Saturday: Jl 4:12-21; Ps 97:1-2, 5-6, 11-12; Lk 11:27-28 Sunday: Is 25:6-10a; Ps 23:1-6; Phil 4:12-14, 19-20; Mt 22:1-14 [1-10] MEDITATION FOR October 8th, 2017 The God of peace is with us. By God s grace, modern medicine and science have made great strides in helping people deal with anxiety. Today, we are encouraged to know that being grounded in a good prayer life can also go a long way toward lessening the anxieties that disrupt the quiet of our hearts. Isaiah uses the beautiful image of the vineyard in describing the people of Israel. It takes work to have a good harvest, just as it takes work to remain faithful to the Lord. In the second reading, Saint Paul encourages us to turn our anxieties over to the God of peace. In the Gospel, Jesus also uses the image of the vineyard, saying that the vineyard the kingdom of God is for those who will produce its fruit`.

6 HISTORIC GATHERING IN ROME His Eminence Stanislaus Cardinal Dzwisz and the Canons of St. Florian Basilica, Krakow Chapter of St. John Paul II I will be on pilgrimage to Rome from October 16 26, 2017 to celebrate the Feast of Saint John Paul II, October 22 nd. I will be staying at the Vatican at the Domus Sanctae Marthae (Casa Santa Marta) with my brother priests and friends who will be making the pilgrimage with me. The Vatican has arranged for me to celebrate Mass at the Altar/Tomb of St. John Paul II on his feast day, October 22 which is truly a grace and privilege. Masses will be celebrated at the Tomb of St. Peter (the Clementine Chapel) and the Polish Chapel in the Grotto of St. Peter s Basilica. In a historic gathering, His Eminence Stanislaus Cardinal Dzwisz, Archbishop Emeritus of Krakow, who was the personal friend and former secretary to Pope John Paul II, will be joining us on this pilgrimage along with my brother Canons of St. Florian Basilica, Krakow. This is the first time the Cardinal and Canons will come to Rome together to celebrate the life of St. John Paul II. The Cardinal will be celebrating Mass at the Altar/Tomb of St. John Paul II on Tuesday, October 24 th with my brother canons concelebrating the Mass with him. Truly a GRACE from St. John Paul II to have the Cardinal celebrate the Mass. That evening we will gather at one of my favorite restaurants to celebrate priestly fraternity. On Wednesday, October 25 th, His Eminence will be taking our group to the mountain region outside of Rome where St. John Paul II would hike and enjoy the beauty of God s creation. That afternoon we will enjoy a nice pranzo/lunch up in the mountains before returning to Rome. Know that you will be in my prayers during these sacred days and especially when I offer Mass! 10 Come Let Us Adore Him Bring Me your sorrows, your pains, your hopes, your sadness, your joys and offer it up to Me. I will take care of them for you. In the Eucharist, the Son of God comes to meet us; in Eucharistic adoration, we go to meet the Son of God. Eucharistic adoration is simply the natural consequence of the Eucharist celebration, which is itself the Church s supreme act of adoration, former Pope Benedict XVI explained. He encourages all of us to make time for personal prayer before the Sacrament of the Altar, as well as other devotions dedicated to Eucharistic Adoration. 16th 14th,2017 5:30-8:00 PM He reminds us that the meaning of the Eucharist must include the call to pursue the path of penance, and thus, we need to partake of the sacrament of Reconciliation as part of the process of conversion. Jesus as I come before You, in silence, I started to pray, but when I gazed up and saw You, I forgot what I was going to say. I remember now; I wanted to thank You for the blessings I receive each day and the special love and favors that You always send my way. Look on me with pity, dear Jesus, for I want to do what is right to keep myself humble and holy and to say my prayers at night. Jesus, I feel Your Presence around me as I kneel here to pray, I would like to spend more time with You, but I have to be on my way. St. Augustine s has Eucharistic Adoration every Monday evening from 7-8PM in the Church. (except on national holidays) PARISH BREAKFAST RETURNS OCTOBER 15th, 2017 The Parish Breakfast Ministry is again sponsoring the St. A s Sunday Breakfast on the 3rd Sunday of each month after the 8:00 and 10:00 am Masses.
