I know it takes effort to break from our normal routine, and I challenge you to do just that - to figure out how you can make time to spend with Jesus Christ, truly present, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity in the Eucharist, and waiting to spend time with YOU. If you are retired and have more flexibility with your schedule (I m not saying you have nothing to do, as I have heard it explained many times that most folks are busier in retirement than they were when they were employed), then look at signing up for a half or even a whole hour of time in adoration during the working hours of the day. If you have children, consider making a special trip in for 15 minutes of family prayer right after school. If you work during the day, try to come in to visit our Lord during the night hours, as the church is open and the Blessed Sacrament is exposed all through the night until just before the 8:00 am. Although we have a sign up sheet to guarantee someone is always present, you do not have to sign up in order to come in and pray. My hope is that we can get to a point as a parish at which everyone looks forward each month to spending special time with the great treasure we have in our midst, the source and summit of our faith, Jesus Christ in the Eucharist, right here in our midst and ready to pour out His love on all who come to Him. High School Bowling Night Tonight, Sunday, January 28, 5:00pm-6:30pm All 9th-12th graders are invited to come join Sacred Heart Youth Ministry for a fun night of bowling at Woodleaf Lanes! In the midst of this busy time of year, take some time to sit before Our Lord in Adoration. The sign up sheet is posted in the narthex. 3. First Saturday Devotion Next Saturday, February 3 Join us next Saturday beginning at 7:00 am. First Saturday Devotions includes confession, adoration, praying the rosary,, and a meditation on the mysteries of the Rosary. We will conclude around 9:00 am. 4. World Marriage Day Celebration Sunday, February 11, after 10:30 am On World Marriage Day, February 11, we will honor our newest and longest married couples at the 10:30. Immediately after, we will have a reception in Brincefield Hall (hosted by CDA). Finally, throughout the week leading up to World Marriage Day, we will be offering a virtual retreat on enews and on the parish website throughout the week. Eckert Queridos amigos, Me gustaría desafiar a toda nuestra parroquia a que revise una de las prácticas devocionales que hemos estado ofreciendo aquí en el Sagrado Corazón por un buen tiempo: nuestra adoración del Viernes Santo del Santísimo Sacramento. Sé que se necesita un esfuerzo para romper con nuestra rutina normal, y lo desafío a que haga eso: a descubrir cómo puede hacer un tiempo para estar con Jesucristo, verdaderamente presente, Cuerpo, Sangre, Alma y Divinidad en la Eucaristía, y esperando pasar tiempo con USTED. Si está jubilado y tiene más flexibilidad con su agenda (no digo que no tenga nada que hacer, ya que he escuchado que la mayoría de la gente está más ocupada en su retiro que cuando estaban empleados), entonces considere inscribirse durante media o incluso una hora entera en adoración durante las horas laborales del día. Si tiene hijos, considere hacer un viaje especial durante 15 minutos de oración familiar justo después de la escuela. Si trabaja durante el día, trate de visitar a nuestro Señor durante las horas de la noche, ya que la iglesia está abierta y el Santísimo Sacramento expuesto durante toda la noche hasta justo antes de la Misa de las 8:00 a.m. Aunque tenemos una hoja para garantizar que alguien esté siempre presente, no tiene que inscribirse para entrar y rezar. 7 La Liturgia del Día ~ viviendo en la Vida Cotidiana La Programa de Preparación Sacramental Los dos domingos anteriores escuchamos cómo Jesús llamó a sus primeros discípulos. En los próximos tres domingos escucharemos historias de cómo Jesús curó a los enfermos y afligidos. Él acaba de comenzar su ministerio público, pero cuando expulsa demonios y sana a leprosos, su notoriedad y popularidad aumentan pronto. En el Evangelio de hoy Jesús expulsa un espíritu inmundo. La gente se asombra, no sólo por las obras de él, sino también por la autoridad con que enseñaba. Dicen que ponerle nombre a algo nos da poder sobre ello. El espíritu inmundo en el Evangelio de Marcos trata de hacer precisamente eso cuando se puso a gritar Jesús de Nazaret... el Santo de Dios (Marcos 1:24). Pero Jesús tiene la autoridad de Dios y esto se sobrepone al espíritu inmundo. Marcos describe a Jesús como el profeta prometido a Moisés y al pueblo en la primera lectura: El Señor Dios hará surgir un profeta en medio de ustedes, entre sus hermanos, un profeta... [y] pondré mis palabras en su boca (Deuteronomio 18:18). Esto le da a Jesús la autoridad para expulsar espíritus inmundos, así como para enseñar con autoridad en la sinagoga.
