Richardson, Jr. MISSION STATEMENT Today we celebrate Christ s ascension into heaven and his commissioning of the disciples to carry on his mission in the world. First we hear Luke s description of those events in the opening verses of the Acts of the Apostles. Next we hear words of encouragement and guidance from the Letter to the Ephesians. Finally we hear Mark s account of the Ascension, foretelling the mighty words and acts the Christian community would do in Jesus name. Together these scriptures give us a vision of the mission of the church of Jesus Christ a mission statement of sorts. Like mission statements in our parishes and corporations, this mission statement can help us set priorities and focus our activities. 4 Parish & Area News The Senior Youth Group will be having their annual Crawfish Boil Fundraiser to raise money for their trip to the Steubenville Youth Conference. For fifteen dollars you will get 3 pounds of crawfish, corn and potatoes. Tickets will be sold after all masses on May 26 th - 27th and June 2nd- 3 rd. Dinners will be ready for pickup after 11:00 mass on June 3rd. Please help support the youth of St Mark. 5 Parish News We, at St. Mark Parish, are all saddened by the untimely death of Legionaries of Christ Brother Anthony Freeman. A day after carrying the cross for Pope Francis s Easter Mass at the Vatican, Anthony passed away. The third year theology student at Rome s Pontifical Regina Apostolorum University was scheduled to be ordained a Deacon on July 7th in Houston. Anthony was very active in evangelization efforts on social media. He was the brother of St. Mark Parishioner, Hollie Freeman Louque, and uncle to altar server, Colin Louque. Let us keep Anthony and his family in our prayers. Our St. Mark Bible Study Group entered into the heavenly mystery of the Mass as they learned about the importance of this Eucharistic sacrament. In this study A BIBLICAL WALK THROUGH THE MASS the participants learned about the Eucharist as sacrifice, the true presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, and how to properly dispose themselves to the graces of this sacred liturgy. They ended the study by celebrating the Mass as a group. Watch the bulletin to be a part of our next bible study!
