2 BEATRIZ ADRIANA BENEFIT CONCERT-AUGUST 9TH PORTLAND EXPO CENTER Concert: 7:00 pm The concert will open with music by Mariachi Portland- Polermos, then Beatriz Adriana will move your hearts with her lovely voice at about 9 pm. VIP Event: Only with purchase of VIP ticket-starting at 5:30 pm A private party to meet Ms. Beatriz Adriana and include light dinner and beverages plus priority viewing of the concert. There will be paper and pens available to jot down a special memory or kindness you would like to share with Fr. Richard or Fr. Jorge, or bring a card or note from home. 3 In celebration of the Feast of Corpus Christi and our Parish Saint, please join us for our Annual Parish Picnic! This will also be a farewell for Br. Ryan We are looking for contributions of bottles of wine for the picnic. You may bring them to the parish office and thank you. 4 Adult Enrichment Happenings 24 week Bible study entitled The Bible Timeline: The Story of Salvation. Will begin September 11 th and run through March 19 th with breaks for Thanksgiving and Christmas. One session will be held on Thursday evenings and a daytime session, if enough participation, will be offered during the day on Wednesday. Do not let the 24 weeks deter you from attending, as the sessions are easily to make up. Thank you to the several who have already registered for this class. I welcome others to commit themselves to diving deeper into the Scripture. You will learn how the key people, places, and events in the Bible fit together to reveal God s Plan for humanity. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated the first Sunday of the Month directly following the 10 am Mass. One baptismal preparation class is required. The preparation class seeks to help parents understand the Rite of Baptism and to prepare and support parents in the on-going faith formation of their child. 7 A personal invitation from Jesus! Now Jesus is calling on morning Mass attendees to help set up for His Mass. Over the summer we are in need of people to help as Sacrastan on Thursday and Friday and maybe other days as people go on vacation. What does this entail? Arrive early enough to set out the vessels with the host and wine for Mass, unlock doors, turn on lights, turn on sound system then after Mass put things away and lock doors and turn off lights and sound system. This could be a team effort. Please call Pat at the parish office for more details and training. Remember through our baptism we are all called to serve the Lord in the Holy Eucharist. Low Gluten Host (0.01%): St. John s has purchased a new low gluten host. If you need to receive the Blessed Eucharist with this low gluten host please follow these procedures at Mass: At communion time arrange yourself to be the last person in the priest line. When it is your turn to receive tell the priest you need a low gluten host and he will go to the tabernacle to get you one and then give you communion.
