Next Sunday morning all high school students are encouraged to stay in bed. Just think of it no, Oh mom do I HAVE to go to mass? No, None of my friends have to go. Why do I? Stay in your room and... sleep! How long you sleep in is up to you. But if you want to make a really good impression on mom and dad you might think about making some toast and eggs to be waiting for them when they get home (from mass, hopefully). So what s the deal? Why no mass next Sunday morning? BECAUSE THERE S A SPECIAL MASS FOR ALL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS NEXT SUNDAY NIGHT AT 7 PM. (THAT S THE ONE YOU NEED TO BE AT!!!!) ****************************** So what s so special about this mass? Well... you ll be there and maybe you ll bring a friend. There won t be any adults except for Fr. Tim and two or three parents who helped make this get-together possible. High schoolers are in charge. You ll do the readings for mass, you ll plan the music, you ll do the petitions (Lord Hear our Prayer)... and... you re going to have a chance to give your thoughts about the readings at homily time. AFTER MASS ---- PIZZA & CELL PHONES What s a teen gathering without food? Bring your appetite cause there will be pizza for everybody. While we eat there s going to be a start-up of a social media platform that s just for the high school students at Holy Trinity. Bring your cell phone that night and be ready to get this new app up and running. It s going to be a twitter feed you can access to find a spiritual message for the day. There will be a prayer request section for any needs you want prayed for. There will be a place where you can ask Fr. Tim for advice or get clarification on some issue you want to learn more about. We re just beginning this new initiative, so we need you to give us your ideas of what would be a help for you and your friends. So..... see you next Sunday night, 7 pm. in Church. We ll get you back home by 8:30. Parents. Give this bulletin to your high schooler. Encourage them to attend. Let s do something new and good. The glorious season of autumn is about to happen. God bless you. Fr. Tim We hear every week what Fr. Tim or Fr. John thinks. Next week is your chance to say what YOU think. So sleep in that morning and bring a friend that night to Church at 7 pm. Nothing can diminish the priceless worth of any human life. Every person is cherished. God creates every person for eternal union with Himself and continually invites us to embrace a loving relationship with Him. Every person is chosen. We are called to be messengers of God s love, treating one another as cherished and chosen by Him. In doing so, we help build a culture that respects all human life. This month let us renew our commitment to care for each other and for all of God s creations. Let us think of others first in our choices because each and every one of us makes a difference in this world. Here are a few ideas on things you can do with your children to show love for others Volunteer in your community together Sit down as a family to write letters or cards to those in a children s hospital Pick flowers or bake cookies for an older resident in your community and deliver them together Perform a random act of kindness Let your children choose an organization to help and decide on how you might help together One person can make a difference and create a lasting change in the world. Your impact on a single person can result in a ripple effect felt far and wide. Book Club Join us on October pm. in the Wing Room for our next book of the month. Orphan Train by Christina Baker Kline is a story about aging out of the foster care system. Molly Ayer takes a position helping an elderly woman named Vivian and discovers that they are more alike than different as she helps Vivian solve a mystery from her past. Parish Office Closed: October 8 The Parish Office will be closed on October 8 in celebration of Columbus Day. We will reopen on Tuesday, October 9th. Have a safe holiday. School Sisters of Notre Dame Celebrate 185 years of Faithful Service In 1833, Blessed Mother Theresa of Jesus Gerhardinger founded the School Sisters of Notre Dame to educate young women. Since then the sisters have expanded her initial, provincial mission to deepen communion with God and transform the world through education at all stages of life. Please join the sisters as they celebrate a special liturgy on October 28 at 1:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral.

A REMINDER: If you need a devotional candle lit immediately for a loved one, a special occasion, or special intentions, you are invited to light the small votives that are on the side altars of the Blessed Mother and St. Joseph. They will burn for about 4-5 hours.
