Anyone wishing to add some solitude to their Lenten journey, can stop in between those hours for reading, self -examination, and/or prayer. St. Matthew s UMW will hold a general meeting Tuesday, February 27 at 6:30 PM. There will be a light supper of soup served, and then Olivia Kloth will share our Call to Prayer and Self-Denial program with us. All ladies of the church are invited to at- Did ya know? You can. 3 Outreach Ministries Collection Campaigns Youth Earth Day. For this event we are collecting plastic bottle tops of all sizes, exp. water bottle tops, milk bottle tops, etc. Earth Day will be celebrated here at St. Matthew s UMC on Sunday, April 22. UMW Treasures & Trinkets. Was your New Year s Resolution to clean out, de-clutter and organize your home. If so, the UMW Treasure & Trinket s Garage Sale is March 10 and we will gladly take those unneeded items off your hands. Some items we can use are jewelry, purses, belts, shoes, accessories, collectibles, decorative items, furniture, books, games, tools, sporting equipment, glassware, holiday items, appliances, toys, pictures, wall art, etc. (We cannot accept computers and computer accessories or adult clothing.) We can also make arrangements to pick up your items if needed. All proceeds go to the UMW local missions. Mardi Gras Beads. We will once again be collecting Mardi Gras Beads to raise airfare money for the youth who signed up to go on the Mexico Mission Trip. So catch all that you can this Mardi Gras and St. Patrick s season and bring your loot to the church. Beads, trinkets and stuffed animals can be placed in the designated box in room 101. Thanks in advance for your contributions! HYGIENE BAGS FOR THE HOMELESS!! The youth are making hygiene bags for the Homeless. We would like the hygiene bags to be gender neutral. We are collecting donations of the following items: Toothbrush, Toothpaste, Mouthwash, Shampoo, Conditioner, Soap, Lotion, Deodorant, Comb/Brush, Chap stick, Pocket sized Kleenex or bacterial wipes, Any feminine products You may write words of encouragement or bible verses to go in the bags if you wish! The cost of the airfare will be approximately $500 each. This is the biggest expense. You can change the life of these young people as well as the lives of the children in Reynosa Mexico by becoming a monetary sponsor! Any amount donated toward this worthy cause is greatly appreciated. A faith community who serves GOD through fellowship, discipleship, & missions. 3
