1 PHONE: (972) Flossie Yvonne Chapman May 2, March 17, 2009 Flossie Yvonne Chapman, age 55, of McKinney, Texas departed this earthly life on March 17, 2009 at her residence. Flossie was affectionately known by her close family and friends as Stumpy or Miss Flossie. Flossie was born on May 2, 1953 in Norfolk, Virginia. Her parents, Evelyn Roberson and Elwood Smith preceded her in death. Flossie was married to James Chapman in 1974 and for many years they resided in Jessup, Maryland. In Maryland, she was employed as a teacher s aide and also owned and operated a custom window treatment business. When she relocated to Maryland she continued to operate her business, Flossie s Corner. She was an avid music lover and enjoyed a wide range of artists from Mahalia Jackson, Sarah Vaughan, and Luther Vandross to Elvis Presley. She was a patron of the arts and was a member of the Dallas Symphony Association and the Dallas Theater Center. In addition to her husband, James, she leaves to cherish her memory an aunt, Naomi Thompson and cousins Celeste Edwards, Earl Plummer, Matthew Brown of Norfolk, Virginia; and a host of coworkers, extended family and friends. Flossie will be greatly missed but her spirit and zest for life remains with us all. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, March 25, 2009, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Rev. K. Ray Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday evening at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kidney Foundation of North Texas, 5429 LBJ Freeway, Suite 250; Dallas, TX or online at Memorials Flossie, you were like a second mother to me and I miss you more than words can say. I'll never forget our weekly calls where we would catch up, laugh, and joke and you asking if I was "pretty as ever." I miss you and love you. Don't

JACKIE PACE, APRIL 9, 2009 Hey Stumpy, Regina and I return to Va. a couple of weeks ago from your Mermorial Service, and baby girl what a Memorial you had, foot stomping, lots of laughing, endless Flossie stories & great food, sounds like a regular day with Flossie Huh. Oh yea I forgot to mention you were looking picture perfect you had it going on as usual. It's still hard to except that you are no longer with us physically, but you will always be in my heart. Flossie I want to thank you for the wonderful memories I have, for the numerous Dallas Cowboys paraphernalia that you and James sent or should I say James sent and you so excitedly fussed about, but you made sure the packages kept coming,but most of all, thanks for sharing the love of your life James with us. Flossie your last words to me was to call and check on James, I didn't know it would be our last conversation, but I can assure you I will always check on James. So when he gets tired of the phone calls I can always say Flossie told me to, I'm sure he will listen. Flossie I love you, I miss you, and I still weep for you, but I will be fine knowing you are no longer sickly. There were 3 mother's I had in addition to my biological mother. Annie Mae, Margaret, and you, Stumpy. You're the reason I put french-fries on my hamburgers. There's just no other way to eat them. I had to explain to Cameron, why I do this and that you have to eat them that way (per Stumpy). Never have I entertained the possibility that you would not be here one day. Like Olla and Sadie, I figured yall were going to be here forever. I was so happy you and James got to visit us Christmas 2007 and to finally meet Cam. See I told you I could cook (breakfast, that is). This world as we know it, won't be the same without you. So, now I know God is putting french-fries on his burgers too, why...because I'm sure you've told him he has too. HENDERSON-HUGHES, MARCH 26, 2009 All of the memories I have of Aunt Flossie include laughter and good times. I never saw her with a frown on her face, unless it were followed by some humorously sarcastic remark (normally directed towards my dad: that began Well Charles... and ended with even more laughter). She had such a good spirit and everyone was drawn to her. She was the life of every family gathering that she attended. Any time I walked by Aunt Flossie, who would normally have parked herself at the dinner table, I always wanted to smile because of the sly look on her face that let me know she was probably thinking of something funny to say. Even after I heard the news of her passing, all I could do is remember every good time we had together and all of the stories she used to tell. I have never met someone so funny and free-spirited, she will truly be missed. My love goes out to her husband, and my Uncle, Mr. James Chapman. CHEYENNE A. I will miss her anecdotes, where she always had a comment that made you smile - whether the comment was about her, about James, or anyone else. Flossie was very thoughtful, with a comment, or a card for your birthday, or for other special times. And, I will remember how much she loved James. I saw that when I visited them in their new home in McKinney. And, I believe, as he does, that she may have "exhaled" and just let go, knowing that her beloved James had received his kidney. JACQUELYN FAYE CHAPMAN, MARCH 26, 2009 James, our dear brother in Christ, it is with much sadness we share these comforting words with you. Please know our thoughts and prayers are with you today and always. We are so grateful God allowed our paths to cross approximately 20 years ago and we became family immediately. We have had numerous (too many to count) enjoyable family gatherings that will remain in our memory bank for years to come. One of our fondest was the year you and Flossie hosted the family Easter gathering in Maryland approximately 10 years ago plenty good food, fellowship, Easter Egg Hunt, Easter Baskets for the kids, etc. And what can we say about our trip to Texas? It was most enjoyable and will never be forgotten. To know Flossie was to love her. Flossie was unique in that once you met her, you would never forget her. She was a loving, caring person full of fun and laughter. As a Minister/Pastor, Flossie kept it real with me and continued to be Flossie." She would always tell me, Now TD, I know the Bible speaks of milk and honey in Heaven, but I m telling you now, I m going to need a little more than milk and honey when I get there And at our Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings, Flossie would ask at least five or ten times, Is the turkey ready yet? And then she would chuckle and say, I m not asking for myself, I m asking for TD And after the delicious meal she would say, Now TD, don t worry about whether or not I m having

5 dessert, just be concerned with yourself However, on a more serious note, there are times when God breaks our hearts to confirm He only takes the best. And we as Christians know To be absent from the Body is to be present with the Lord. So to you our departed sister, Flossie, we say good night we shall see you in the morning! And to you James, as you go through this hour, we recommend that you Hold on to Jesus, and ride out your storm! 6 Dear Stumpy, It was in 1968 when I returned to Nofolk and you and I became dearest friends.i recall our endless night coversations. As young girls we planned our futures,attended all Barbara StreiSand's movies and critiqued everything she wore. ("Funnygirl" and Yentl were our favorites) We continued to talk even when I left Norfolk. you shared you often stayed with my mom and how her wisdom was good for your heart and soul. You always acknowledged her kindness. For rthat I thank you. Laughter and smiles were at the top of the list whenever we were together and then I received a call that you had met and married the love of your life.(james) You never failed to discuss how blessed you were for having a husband that truly cared. Recently we talked more and you remained a ray of sunlight for all to see with your laughter and glee. I know you are in heaven laughing and enjoying my mom and dad, they both loved and cared for you. Flossie, you were so special, it is no wonder God called you so soon. I am deeply saddened that I won't hear the laughter of my friend, nor see your joyous grin.you will be missed,my dear friend. Flossie's light, her laughter, her talent, and ingenuity were to be revered. She could not be copied. She loved you more than life, and she could let go with the knowledge that you would be all right. Last week, I pulled out your Favorite Muffin recipe, and made them for my goddaughter. I told her how much fun we had when you made them for us the weekend of your 20th anniversary. I still remember Flossie's meticulous manner for washing the dishes. One-of a Kind! If we could have been there to sing, it would have been "You Raise Me Up," for we are all better because Flossie passed our way. God be with you, James. 7 Flossie words cannot express the sadness and joy I feel about your passing. Sadness because I will truly miss you and your bubbly personality and joy because I know without a doubt you are with the Lord. Girl you have a brand new body and no pain. I will always remember you especially when I eat an Oreo cookie, because that was our favorite snack when we were children. My momma always made sure we had enough. (smile) James take care of yourself because Flossie loved you so much. And she would be angry if you grieved too much for her, because she is fine. Stumpy was truly one of a kind. I will never forget that time when I was about five or six and she took me to Norfolk Scope to see Disney on Ice. That was almost forty years ago. I remember having to drive all over Virginia and Maryland, so that Anna and Flossie could see Johnny Mathis in concert. There are so many memories, and so many plans (Flossie and I had made plans for us to come down this summer), but God had other plans. God needed an interior decorator in Heaven, and he looked down on Flossie's beautiful designs and decided she was the one He wanted, because she had an eye for color, a style, and that certain flair that makes a decorator great. He couldn't have chosen a better person. God's love and our love be with you as you celebrate Flossie's homegoing.
