Pray that they watch over us. A lot has happened in October. We received a letter of resignation from our Deputy Grand Knight SK Dennis Collins. This letter stated that his duties with the Retired Teachers of Ontario had increased such that he could not serve two masters, there fore tendered his resignation with the provision that he would continue to organize for this year the events committed Installation of Officers and Recognition Dinner, Highway Cleanup and the Basket Ball Free Throw. I am sad to see Dennis leave this position and grateful that he will continue to serve the council. I approached a few members, and have received acceptance on nomination for this position from SK Jim Flynn. SK Jim tendered his resignation as 2 nd Year Trustee so that he can accept the nomination. For this reason we had at our October Business meeting on the announcement of the above, nominations for position of DGK and 2 nd year Trustee. The installation of officers and recognition dinner was successful in that all that was to be done was done. As mentioned below by Fr. Deslippe, the attendance was dismal to say the least. We presented Honorary Membership to SK Cliff Maxwell, and Degree cards for SK Oscar Thompson, Bros Tim Buchanan and Gord Smith. We presented the Family of the Year award to Bro Art Beaudry, present were his wife and daughter. From the District Deputy we received Certification of our First Degree Team and the Columbian Award for Service Programs , which was presented to PGK SK Bob Beausoleil. Thanks to those who helped with the organization of this event and those who gave their support by attending. Please support future events in this council. We can not move forward with out it. From the desk of Martin Evers, PFN Grand Knight Council 1467 Chaplain s Message Dear Brother Knights and Families Our installation of officers on Sunday afternoon, October 14th, was an inspiring ceremony capably handled by our District Deputy, Paddy Morgan assisted by our Past Grand Knight, Bob Beausoleil. The only sad note was that there was so very few of our brother knights and their ladies in attendance. A beautiful ceremony followed by a most tasty dinner was enjoyed by those present. After dinner a few recognitions were made and your chaplain was presented with a beautiful stole with the Knights of Columbus insignia on it. I am truly grateful for this gift as a thank you for the 45 years, I have served as chaplain for Council As we approach the month of November, we remember the souls in purgatory in special ways. We also remember our brother Knights, Terry Fancet, George Lawrence, Terry Sullivan, Reg Gillen, Bernie Moore and Gerry Roy who passed away in In our charity we remember our brother knights in our prayers. 3 Council 1467 Program Information October Program Report CHURCH PROGRAM: Bro Tim Buchanan ( ) The Adopt A Highway crew had seven members out on 20 October and after making Highway 3 Junction to Gore, spotless; they retired to the Columbus Club to discuss next years plan of attack. Bro Fred Molinaro is in need of assistance in the setup of our Fantasy of Lights Display on Nov 24 th and 25 th, please contact him at and offer your assistance. COMMUNITY PROGRAM: Bro. Bro. Jim Dewan ) is our new director for this area. COUNCIL PROGRAM: We need a new chairman in this area. If you are interested please give me a call. I wish to thank Bro Rick Kay PGK, and Bro Jim Monkel for assistance in the 4 pm Bingo on Oct 24 th. They worked VERY HARD. Also thanks to the above and Fred Molinaro, Jim Coveny and Italo DiFillippo for assistance at the 7pm Bingo the same day. We served 138 and 161 people at these two Bingos. Two members of the 4 th degree lent ceremonial presence under Commander SK Dave Elford. PGK Bob Beausoleil and DW Mike Butler assisted the DD & DW. Our thanks to those members. The Autumn Recognition Celebration was held after the Installation of officers. This event was described in the Grand Knights Report. YOUTH PROGRAM: Bro. Peter Kuntz ( ) our director. Bro Peter Kuntz has submitted his report in the Squires section. Respectfully, Jim Flynn Standing in for Dennis Collins CHRISTMAS TREE SALE DECEMBER 2007 It is that time of year again for every able body to pitch in and give a hand selling Christmas Trees. I have just confirmed an order of 200 spruce trees from Evans and Lambert Tree Farm in the Langton area. The trees will be picked up on Friday, November 30 and will go on sale starting Saturday, Dec 1 at 10:00 am. It usually only takes about (2) weeks with (3) weekends to sell most of the trees. So when you are called by one of the calling committee members please volunteer your time (2 hours) for one of the shifts. Many Knights sign up for (2) or more shifts which helps get the schedule booked early. 5 Columbus Club Report As you read my report for this month, hopefully there will be some significant changes happening at the Club. If not they will be coming shortly. As mentioned in my previous reports, our new rooftop AC unit should be installed in the very near future. You all will notice a tremendous difference in your comfort levels next summer when the hot weather returns. The paving of our parking lot is just around the corner as well. This being a very expensive venture, you have already been informed that we will be sending out a letter of appeal to you the membership for assistance in this undertaking. You have always been there when we counted on your support and I am positive we can expect the same with this very important project. I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank some of our Brother Knights for their assistance bartending at the ball complex this summer. Thank you Brothers Bill West, Mark Gilmour, Jim Mc Anulty, Joe Fleming, and Bob Beausoleil. I also want to thank Bro. Alois Van Hooydonk for repairing our broken hall chairs In closing, I would to remind everyone that our Friday After 4 has really taken off, and I would like to invite all of you to drop in for a short visit. Jack Cryan October 2007 October has been a slow month for the young men, sudden changes in councilor's schedule the Bolton Ball Hockey tourney had to be bypassed. It was later learned a good time was had by all who attended. Preparation for Trivia Night continue, keep November 16 in mind, sharpen your wits, get a team together and register. Forms will available at the Hall during the week of October 22, We are counting on your support to help us support the restoration of Holy Angels Parish. Tickets are $12.50 per person with a team of six getting a break with the cost being $ Teams can be between four and six as usual with snacks, cash prizes, door prizes and adult beverages available. Please don t wait till the last moment. This Councilor and Bro. Mike Fritsch attended the councilors workshop weekend October 19, 20 and 21. While both were nearly scared witless by the unit on Due Diligence, other seminars were both informative and inspiring. Both of us returned with batteries charged and resolution firmed and ready for the rest fraternal year. The Chief Councilor was able to start the ball rolling on hosting an Investiture sometime before Christmas. Area Chairman Greg Reaume will help co-ordinate through his office. The Squires have been asked to assist with the Halloween party. More on this after the event. Remember Brothers bring your eligible male relatives out to start the Squires experience. A Summary of Art s efforts towards the Knights and his community would fill more than one bulletin. Art attended a Catholic school in Saskatchewan and the Sisters there molded the man you see today. Married to Sue for 41 yrs, he was employed as a life insurance agent for 35 yrs and has been a member of the Knights for 43 yrs. During this time he has served with distinction as Grand Knight and District Deputy. He has carried on the duties of the past member Jack Cryan with the commitment and sensitivity that is realized only by those touched by him. He has been always ready and able to help any knights activity. At his parish, St. Anne s, he has served as Eucharistic Minister, Usher, and Greeter, and an ever-ready volunteer in parish activities. This gentleman has been involved in the community in a quiet, humble, and clandestine manner in assisting where needed. He is also a staunch member of the Golden K Service Club and has acted as the prayer leader for the past year. He fulfills this role before every weekly meeting by leading the club members with an appropriate, sincere and spontaneous appeal to our Heavenly Father for help in serving the community.
