3 From Psalm 145 a psalm of David: I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever. Every day I will praise you and extol your name for ever and ever. May that be our attitude as we come to worship our Triune God and King this morning. Welcome to worship!! This week Pastor Michael will continue his Lent Series on David from I Samuel 24. Next week, Palm Sunday, we will look at 2 Samuel 5:1-13 the story of David being crowned king and taking Jerusalem and connecting it with Jesus entering it on Palm Sunday centuries later. Pastor Michael s sermon discussion class will be held in the Fireside Room after the morning service, during the Sunday School hour. Everyone is welcome! In conjunction with Palm Sunday, all the kids preschool through 5 th grade are invited to welcome us into worship by waving palm branches. Parents, please have your kids in the Fireside Room around 9:20 to start getting organized. Please plan to join us (and perhaps even invite a friend or neighbor) to our Good Friday and Easter Sunday services. Our Good Friday service will be at 7:00 p.m. on March 30, with Easter Sunday to follow at 9:30 a.m. on April 1 st! Please pray for the Council as they meet tomorrow night to consider the recommendation of the Search Team to call Ben Gandy as our Associate Pastor of Youth and Discipleship. They will be deciding whether or not to bring his name to the congregation for a congregational vote. Please keep the Gandy s and our congregation in your prayers as we consider this possibility together. The deacons gratefully acknowledge the March 11, 2018 receipts: General Fund-$4,985; Milaca Area Pantry-$1,015.

4 Your offering next Sunday, March 25, will be received for Crossroads Prison Ministries. For over 30 years, Crossroads has connected with prisoners through mentors in Christ-centered relationships so that lives are restored and changed through the Gospel. Volunteer mentors, like several from our congregation, correct Bible Study lessons and write letters of encouragement twice a month. If you would like to learn more about this program or become a mentor, please contact Ray Rensenbrink at Our Church Family Please continue to keep Rhonda Moorlag in your prayers as she meets with doctors to determine her next course of action in treating her cancer. She will likely be having surgery in the near future to remove it. Once again, I would like to thank my church family and Pastor Michael after my recent heart attack. Thank you for your visits, cards, phone calls and wonderful food. I especially thank you for your prayers. You can truly feel the power of prayers when God s people pray. God is good all the time! 5 GEMS will be learning about the art of needlework at our Badge Saturday, March 24, from 9-11 am. This event is open to all GEMS girls in grades 1-6. We will learn about various needlework crafts and cross-stitch a simple pattern onto a bookmark. If there are any women who enjoy needlework and are available during that time, we'd love some extra sets of hands. To RSVP, contact Jessica at mj10haken@gmail.com or High School Seniors and College Students: Applications for the Gerrit Kiel Memorial Endowment Scholarship and the CRC of Pease Scholarship are available in the church office. The Gerrit Kiel Scholarship is for qualifying seniors and/or returning college students who will attend Calvin, Dordt or Trinity Colleges. The CRC of Pease Scholarship is for graduating high school seniors and/or returning college students attending a Christian college of their choice. Applications must be turned in to Stacy Patten by April 9, (Applications will NOT be accepted after this date.) If you have received these scholarships in the past, all you need to do is send a letter requesting consideration for a scholarship again this year. Contact Stacy if you have any questions. Home: or Cell: , or Stacy at: stpatten@frontiernet.net. Cadets and GEMS received their Pine Wood Derby car kits and rules last Sunday in preparation for our annual Pine Wood Derby. Trial runs are from 4:00 to 5:00 on SNL, April 22. There will be 3 classes of races with a final race of winners of all classes. If you like whittling and putting your skills to the test in a hot, little race, stop by the office and get a car for $3.00, or ask a Cadet or GEM to get you one. The big race is Sunday, May 6; registration from 4:30 to 5:30. A light lunch will also be served starting at 4:30. Counselor Dennis Kiel sheds light on the underside of a car for Cadets to better understand suspension, brakes and tires.

6 Spring is coming, and with it some cleaning. Need a few extra young hands? Cadets are at your service, all 20, or less. Cleaning out the garage, that storage shed, the yard some project that just needs many hands? We have them. Contact any of the counselors about your need and we ll help you work out the details - we ll make it work: Matt Ash, Dennis Kiel, Curt Sonnek, Damian Patnode, Dick Ritzema. Sure, you can give a donation to the club, but we work for free too, and happily to. A newsletter from Hope Haven is in your mailbox today. SAVE THE DATE: Lights, Camera, Auction... The CCS Annual Spring Banquet & Auction will be held on Friday, April 6, at Northern Lights Ballroom & Banquet Center in Pease. Individual tickets are $25 or you can purchase a table of 8 for $180! We are previewing items during the month of March. We look forward to seeing you on this FUN evening as we support Community Christian School.
