3 Platte Community Mission Trip to Mexico: How to Get Involved This year there are 20 people from Platte and the surrounding area heading to Mexico on a mission trip. Those going represent many of the churches in the Platte community. We have a couple of things happening to allow you, God's people of Platte, to be a part of this experience by helping fund the trip. Every Sunday during Lent, the team will be providing a meal before the community Lenten service. We will serve from 5:30-6:30 PM. This week, March 17, the service is at the Platte CRC, and we will be serving soup and sandwiches. So come out, enjoy a great meal, support your brothers and sisters in Christ going on this trip, and stay for a great time of worship at the service. The following week, March 24, we will be serving a taco bar, so plan ahead to attend. This year we are also taking Mission Balls to Mexico with us! a Mission Ball is a soccer ball with God's plan of salvation written on it in Spanish. Each ball will be presented to a child in Mexico by one of the team members, and the plan of salvation will be explained. To sponsor a ball cost $100, which pays for the ball, its transportation to Mexico, and a portion goes to help a team members cost of the trip. Please consider sponsoring a ball or two, but if you are unable to do that, please consider sponsoring a half-ball or quarter-ball. Individual team members will be going around seeking sponsorships. May the Everlasting Father strengthen you in this season of Lent for your journey across life s fleeting pages. We extend a special welcome to our GEMS and their leaders on this GEMS Sunday. We invite you to join us after the morning worship service for refreshments and a time of fellowship. Children aged 3-5 meet your teacher, in the foyer during the offering this morning for Children s Church. ABOUT OUR MESSAGES Our morning sermon series in Daniel, "Life in Exile," moves to Daniel 2: Daniel goes before the King of Babylon and recounts for him his dream and then provides the interpretation. Looking back, we see that this dream of a dazzling statue crushed by a stone is "A Dream Still Coming True." PRAYERS AND PRAISES Be in prayer for Jake Van Zee, infant son of Ryan and Amy, as he was taken to Sioux Falls this week to receive treatment for an infection. We ask for the healing of God to work within Jake, and the peace of God to guard his parents and family. Thank you for the many expressions of encouragement, meals, cards, and prayers. They were all greatly appreciated. OUR ANNOUNCEMENTS ~Mary Kraayenbrink From the council: We have approved a worship committee suggestion to celebrate Maundy Thursday this year in place of Good Friday. Service details are to be determined, but please plan accordingly!

5 Due to uncooperative weather last Wednesday's GEMS was cancelled. We will have a regular meeting this Wednesday and our end of year tea will be held on the 27th. Elders Meeting: The monthly elders meeting has been moved to this Tuesday, March 19. Fellowship Breakfast will be held on March 31, starting at 9 AM. Seminary Visit: On Sunday evening, April 7, we will have the privilege of hearing God's word from Rev. Joel Kim, president of Westminster Seminary California. WSC has prepared many ministers for service in the CRC over the years, including Pastor Drew. On this occasion, we will be stepping out of our community lent services for a Sunday and instead inviting our CRC sister congregations from throughout the area to worship with us. Come hear God's Word from a great scholar, and hear about what God is doing through the ministry of Westminster as well! **Be sure to check out the tables in the Narthex for the Easter edition ( There is a Redeemer ) of the Our Daily Bread.** AREA ANNOUNCEMENTS Appreciation and Farewell Gathering for Pastor Steve Allman will held TODAY from 3:30-5:00 pm at OPC Fellowship Hall. Come enjoy some good music by Phil and Friends & a bite to eat while wishing Pastor Steve well on his new ministry. Ministry Vision Dinner: On Monday, March 18 th. Doors open at 6pm, and the meal served at 6:30pm, with a presentation to follow. The meal is free, RSVP required. A free will offering will be received for Journey Camp scholarships. If you have experienced a loss or are preparing for the loss of a loved one, please join us. (This group will continue to meet on the third Monday of every month and is hosted by Asera Care Hospice of Sioux Falls).

6 Prayer Day service on Wednesday evening, March 20 (postponed from the 13th) at 7:00 the New Holland CRC with Pastor Dan Ebbens preaching. Offering will be taken for World Renew. Nursery will be provided. Refreshments will be served afterwards. Bethel Church invites you to a Choir Concert by Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, of Fergus Falls, MN, on Thursday, 7 pm on March 21. We need to host 52 students on Thursday night to Friday Morning. Contact Pastor Joel Davis at Bethel Church if you would like to host a few students. For more info on Hillcrest, visit their website at Days for Girls will meet on Friday, March 22 at the Platte Senior Citizen Center from 10:00AM to 2:00PM. Lunch is potluck. Call Jean ( ) or Lois ( ) for more info. DCS will hold its annual Society Meeting Monday, March 25 at 7:00 PM in the gymnasium. You will be asked to approve a new budget and to vote for new board members at this meeting. The nominees for new board members are: Devin DeLange, Dustin Feenstra, Kirsti Muckey, Dillon Munneke, Curtis Sybesma, and Denise Vander Pol. You will be asked to vote for three. All DCS supporters are welcome and encouraged to attend. Absentee ballots are available at the DCS office. DC's Festival of Tables presents Whose Line is it Anyway? on Saturday, April 6. 8 ABOUT OUR OFFERINGS This week s offerings are for GEMS. GEMS is an exciting, safe environment for girls to learn about God, His Word, and His world. They ll learn how to apply the Bible to their everyday life and challenges, participate in service projects, sing, and make meaningful crafts that encourage others.
